  1. good post HTT.

i do feel that roeder is very suspect tactically, but i also feel he is the person we needed to take over from souness, and i also believe he is the man we need to steady the ship as it were, at this moment in time.

he knows all about the club and how it works, and i believe he wil have us top 8 while he is here.

he gets my vote to carry on next season, simply because i believe he will not waste £ and he will have us in a stable position.

i would like to think that we will be lookng to move him on after next season however and getting a top manager in to take us to the next level, which i do not beleive glenn is capable of doing.

    top post

I feel gutted more for people like you who spent good money and time going to watch that today, I almost went but decided that my limited time at home was more important, it was a cracking decision.

i have not been as disheartened as i was today in an awful long time (man city away last jan to be precise).

I realy think we were that poor.

whats most alarming for me, is that we dont appear to have a style of our own, its often if they go long and ugly, we go long and ugly, if they try to pass, we try to pass.

today, was long and ugly, and we are fucking awful at it.

the fact that we are resulting to getting excited when the gooch takes a bolton like throw in shows how far we have fallen.

  3. Roeder has an annoying tendency to pick the youngsters in order of age and experience rather than ability. I've no doubt that when Ramage comes back, he'll be again selected ahead of Edgar and Huntington.

his £40k bonus for every one of 'his' academy plsyers making first team wouldnt have anything to do with this owuld it......

he seems to prefer playing 'his' academy players rather than those who are not.

pattinson ahead of o'brien the obvious example

Ramage and Taylor aren't his academy players yet he plays them ahead of Huntington and Edgar. (rightly so in Taylors case). I haven't got a clue about any bonuses Roeder gets for players making the first team, but your argument of him playing Pattison ahead of O'Brien because of any bonuses he might get are wrong because surely it would have only been a one of bonus.

    correct.

there would have only been one bonus, and he would have had that last year against west brom (i think).

my point is that glenn's academy boys get in ahead of those who were not, hence o'brien. i dont think he has much of a choice but to play taylor ahead of the others you mentioned, does he.

i would love to hear how you feel it is justified that a lad who cannot run is played out of position on the left ahead of a lad who has full international caps in that position.

  4. Roeder is beyond defence, again.

He picked a better first 11 on Thursday in a game which was all but won, even if we lost the home game we were never going to go down by more than 1 goal.  He played Milner on Thursday then dropped him today to give him a rest, personally I think "the rest" was an excuse to drop him.  If he was needing a rest then any manager worth that title would have rested him on Thursday, I'd love to see somebody try to defend that decision.

Roeder didn't have the balls to drop a senior player so he shuffled the pack to get the three central defenders in, he does the same to accommodate Carr, he's a joke of a manager.

The players should be motivated, self motivated, we all know life isn't that simple, sometimes it's the job of the manager, in this respect, I've yet so see any evidence that Roeder has done that this season.  The players we have on the pitch should be good enough to beat Wigan, Sheffield United, Charlton, Fulham and Birmingham 9 times out of 10, it's the managers job to make sure this happens, it's his job to make sure the players are up for it and that they are the best players at his disposal in every position, he doesn't do that and I think it's because he doesn't have a clue what he's doing and that assessment isn't knee-jerk, I've not changed my position on him since he was appointed.

I hoped I was wrong but so far it looks like I was right.

You don’t fail as often as him at previous clubs if you’re good at your job.

Roeder isn’t good enough, that isn’t going to change.

I don’t really blame people for defending him, we all want things to go well, the trouble is that by defending him you’re accepting the s**** that was produced today and nobody should accept that today was good enough.  It wasn’t even a one-off it was typical of Newcastle this season and I think it’s going to be typical for as long as Roeder is manager.  If the players need some help from the management then they are in trouble because the management isn’t up to the job.

  6. Roeder was 100% responsible for todays defeat. Piss poor selection -

The selection was pretty much correct for today's game. He couldn't have done a huge amount differently tbh. The thing he did wrong was start Milner the other night.

    ZERO motivation.

And you know this how??? We're you in the dressing rooms? It's half the players' job to motivate themselves. Why should he have to do it all?

    selection was pretty much correct???

how about he sticks with the lad who has probably been our best performer this season on the right and puts nobby right back, where he has played his best games this season and has a pair of balls to either drop one of the centre halves (what has gooch done to justify getting straight back in??), or play taylor at left back, instead of the other centre half that he put there who has less experience than taylor??

    big mistakes for me

  7. we lacked a door opener in the middle today.

parker and butt are too similar, and butt is better imo.

parker seems to have been pigeon holed as a defensive mid, and he seems to agree with it, and thats all he is now. he offers absoloutely nothing going forward.

with eme almost sure to be out of the door iun the summer, i hope we sign a 'door opener', as we dont have one at the moment

  8. just got back from the game, absoloutely awful.

shocking at the back and toothless up top, with nowt much in between.

    very disappointed

I think that today we played well at the back.

We have seen alot worse performances from our defence

granted, we didnt make an errors, but we looked far from comfortable and teh distribution from both centre halves was embarassing.

wasnt happy with teh gooch today either, looked all over the place at times, it was like a hot potato

  9. NE5's gone over to Toontastic now, hoping for more favourable results.

Ne5 isn't registered on toontastic Dave, just here and howaythetoon.

Shame people still think we are better off losing at home to Birmingham than winning in the Nou Camp though.

Are you implying that we'd not have lost 5-1 against Birmingham had Bellamy been in the team then?

Exactly. Just like Liverpool wouldn't have been bum-raped by Arsenal reserves in the Carling Cup if Bellamy had played.

    What?

    He did?

    Oh.

he's right you know, had bellamy stayed we'd be in the nou camp tonight,we weren't going backwards even when nhe was here.

my twopenneth, gary speed leaving was more detrimental than bellamy leaving.

    wow

  10. he has shut a lot of people up tonight, scoring a goal at the camp nou and setting up the guy he had a fight with to score another is the way to do it.

again his on field antics over shadow his off field imo.

however, i think people have fixed opinions on the lad and everyone is entitled to one, so lets put this one to bed eh!

(as well as the awful puns!)

  11. interesting to hear the scousers on north west legends tonight, none of them seem to be too bothered about his off field antics as he has been doing the business on the pitch and apparently hasnt even been booked this season (havnt checked to see if this is accurate).

the general consensus is that they are only bothered about what happens on the pitch.

and this is coming from fans of a club who win things

  12. i have to say, although he has let himself down and proved that he is as thick as fuck AGAIN! i would take him back here in a flash, fromt page headlines wouldnt matter to me if we were winning games every week, and he would help us to do that.

he showed last week at sjp in the first half how good he is, an di would love to see him back in black and white, because what it boils down to is that i pay my seaosn ticket money every year to watch what goes on on the pitch, which is why i would be delighted if he came back.
