  1. Roeder plans swap for Bent

Newcastle United have asked Charlton to let them know if they decide to sell Darren Bent in January and are prepared to offer James Milner and Steve Carr in part-exchange.

St James’ Park manager Glenn Roeder has made £10 million-rated Bent his priority with Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi set to miss the majority of the season and Albert Luque getting ready to return to Spain on loan.

Chairman Freddy Shepherd is reluctant to spend another large sum after investing more than £40m on Owen, Luque, Damien Duff and Obafemi Martins in the last 18 months. Bottom club Charlton are reluctant to sell Bent in the transfer window if they feel they have a chance of staying in the Premiership but know he wants to move to a bigger club.

Roeder is also keeping tabs on Bolton striker Kevin Davies. Talks over a new three-year deal have stalled, with manager Sam Allardyce refusing to get anywhere near Davies’ request to be paid £30,000 a week.

Bolton have resurrected Davies’ career but the player does not want to be taken for granted.

i would be buzzing to see darren bent here, absoloutely buzzing, i think he is exactly what we need and, although i do believe martins will adjust to the premiership and prove to be a very good signing, we should have spent the money on darren bent in the summer.

    bent

    martins

    owen

    ameobi

wouldnt be bad at all imo

Yeah, I agree. Not a bad forward line up at all. Would rather not see Milner leave because of it like.

    agreed.

    nobby should go before milner

  3. glad he is cleared to be honest, he pissed me off at anfield this season but on the whole i hope he succeeds there.

the main reason im happy he was cleared is because its just anoter daft cow trying to get some publixity imo

  4. I think he is playing the same as when SBR was here. I thought he was Nothing special at the time. I hope he refinds his form

Huh? He never played under Robson.

correct, im pretty sure his first game was against blackburn under carver when bobby had left and souness wasnt taking over until the monday?

    could be wrong like

  5. i never thought i would say this but i think we should keep him.

we will get a very low fee if we were to sell and it will probably cost us more to replace him like for like.

having said that, i cant see pearce being interested anyway

  6. Canny game that, I enjoyed it.

Milner's cross was top drawer, I'm a big fan. Always leaves his man for dead and sometimes his final ball isn't the best, unlike tonight. So ****? Rather that than Duff who can't beat his man in a month of Sundays and doesn't even bother trying to cross it.

Luque veered from the sublime to the ridiculous. He's got a hell of a cross on him too, but at times his decision making is atrocious. Reminds me of Robert in so many ways, the way he plays is practically a carbon copy (apart from the fact we've not seen him confident and in a good side as we did Robert). I'd be tempted to pick him at left wing on Sunday because I hate to say it as a huge fan of his, but Charlie is having a nightmare.

Solano added to the list of people better at RB than Steven Carr. By my reckoning, the only people we're unsure about are the groundstaff and the tea lady. Sure the waster will get his place back on Sunday anyway though.

    word for word

  7. i think its

'who's that lazy cunt in black and white?? luque! luque! who's the cunt who couldnt give a shite? luque! luque! who's the cunt who has no bite or fight coz he's shite shite shite? luque! luque!'

    or something like that.

  8. Taylor was clumsy yesterday, but the criticism is over the top. He's not thick in the slightest, he's inexperienced and just clumsy with youth.

i have called him thick in the past, but i agree, it is probably just inexperience tbh.

not sure what duff's excuse is

I'm sure, like AS9 has said, that a lot of it is down to having an inept left-back behind him. Whether it be Babayaro or Ramage, neither are very good. In my opinion, Duff is one of those players that can only play well when there are other good players around him, that can explain his fantastic performances at Chelsea. He only appears to play well in a good team. In Blackburn he stood out because he was young and the shining light of an average team.

Here, he is playing in a bad team under a bad manager.

either way he just puts his head down and runs into blind alleys, turning up his own arse, creating fuck all in the process

  9. Don't think we NEED tall players. If we could get round to play a good passing football, then we won't really need them. Perhaps for defending, but we should have cover as our CMs aren't small.

aye, i hear emre and parker have auditiones for land of the giants.

dyer and butt are thinking of giving it a shot as well.

we must be one of the smallest teams in the league.

we are desperate for some height

  10. top bloke roeder, and i really think he tries to do everything right but he falls short of what is required at our club imo.

i think and hope that a takeover will result in glenn either leaving altogether or going back to the academy and us getting in a top gaffer like we should have done in the first place.

whilst i dont think roeder will take us down, i also dont feel we will be anywhere near the top 6 as we should be given the facilities we have and the money we have spent.

the whole thing needs chnaging from top to bottom imo, from the boardroom all the way down, and i have a feeling that a takeover will provide just that.

    houillier/allardyce/sven/hitzfeld for me please.
