The verdict is fairly easy to understand. The Coroner accepts that he probably wanted to take his life when he climbed the steps but might have changed his mind while thinking about it but something may have gone wrong which caused the outcome.

Mine has the insurance policies.

Nobody can blame any of his family for this, I'm sure if any of them thought he was going to kill himself then they would have stopped him. It doesn't matter what was done or said in an argument, taking his life is way over the top, if he meant it. The family are going to struggle to get over this, in fact they probably never will and people pointing fingers at any of them is s*** and a measure of the person or persons doing it.

Rubbish, my wife would piss herself laughing if I told her I was going to kill myself.

Died by hanging, he possibly didn't mean to take his life. I should point out that that's the verdict.

I don't think even he's arrogant enough to take that job on, ever.

Hughes was at Man City when they were taken over.
-
All of the headlines about him at the time were that he'd been offered Chelsea but wanted Liverpool, it's too late at night for me to go looking for quotes so don't ask.
-
Nobody has said they were a no mark club, they had just finished 4 places higher up the league than we currently are.
-
That's not exactly true, he wanted to go to Liverpool and it was widely publicised at the time. Liverpool went for Raffa Benitez so Jose went to Chelsea.

Bobby tried to bring him here when he was manager at Benfica and he only turned him down because he wanted to remain a manager and didn't expect that Bobby would ever stand down. Mourinho is just arrogant enough to think he could do something here and we're no worse a club than Chelsea was. We just don't have the money they had and I doubt he'll ever be in that position again because of the financial fair play rules. I'm sure what he did with Porto will have him believing that he can win things with any club, they weren’t exactly flush with cash when he won the CL with them, at least not on the scale of that win. He wanted to go to Liverpool before he went to Chelsea, even though Chelsea had much more of a financial carrot to dangle, Liverpool went for Benitez instead so he did go to Chelsea but it wasn't his first choice.

Souness and Roeder were mentioned earlier with regards to win percentage, he comes out better than Souness but not as good as Roeder. I knocked one up but didn't save it, off the top of my head Souness was 1.1 ish point per game, Pardew 1.4 ish and Roeder possibly 1.6 ish but that's a rough estimate.

I honestly think we'd have a good chance of getting him as any but maybe 2 or 3 clubs because of his links to Bobby. The only downside for him would be the people he'd have to work with. That could be balanced out by him having already worked on the continent and possibly not having a great deal of input into transfers. The financial fair play will also mean that wherever he goes he's going to have to work within these guidelines so can't expect massive transfer budgets. Would Ashley and Llambias have the intelligence to go after him or talk him into the job? Somehow I couldn't see it.

I'm not too bothered about win percentages, I'm more interested in points per game and I think he comes out better when measured that way. We have the makings of a very good side and I hope we are able to see them gel and become the team that we are capable of becoming. It will be better for us if we do that with Pardew rather than replace him because at least we know how he works here. If he keeps making progress then we should stick with what we’ve got because you never know how another manager would take to working here. If we’re not getting at least the sum of the parts from the team then we will have to change him but he should be judged at the end of the season. The only time to change during the season is if everything is turning to shit. Or somebody became available who we couldn’t refuse and we knew he wanted to come here and that's not the case.
-
I honestly don't know what to make of Pardew and yes I think if the FA is to appoint an English manager then he must be in the top two or three. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up as England or Spurs manager if saggy face gets the England job. Like Madras has just said, I don't think we've got the best out of our players but being 6th in the league defies my gut feelings as I didn't expect that at the start of the season and still don't expect to finish that high. Having said that, we're capable of finishing where we are and even slightly higher if we have a bit of luck with injuries and players perform. Based on league position we’re doing very well, based on performances I don’t think that’s true so it’s too early to write him off or hail him as being something he’s not. He’s got me baffled, I just can’t work him out yet.

It's good to see we can have this discussion without people throwing toys out of the pram. The manager, like every other person at the football club should be open for discussion and people will always have different opinions and so they should.

He looked to have lashed out from a couple of the replays I've seen, I don't think we can complain if he gets banned. Pity the other things the ref missed can't be looked at and put right because he was a bit shit.

8 teams in the league have as good or better home record for goals against and 11 have as good or better away record for goals against as we have. We're actually 9th overall in the goals against league.

What does stability bring? I ask the question because I don't think it matters as much when a club has a scouting system which identifies the transfers. I agree stability doesn't mean being tactically inflexible but the tactics we've seen this season haven't been anything out of the ordinary anyway and we've had as many tactics that have back-fired as those that have worked well. The tactics worked well against Stoke, they failed against Brighton. I can't to this day work out what our tactics were against Norwich and I doubt many people can either yet they worked against Man U.

We've probably had 6 decent games this season in the league out of 22, we were playing a Championship side yesterday with 8 players who could be classed as first team players and we lost. It's also arguable about who is building the team, I'm not sure stability is that important as we're not seeing stability with one manager as we're changing our system during the season anyway. We started the season playing 4-4-2 and playing the long ball, we've now gone to a system which is 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 and I wouldn't be surprised if we see 4-4-2 on Wednesday. Why do we need stability? What does stability bring when the scouts find the players and we change formations during the season anyway? I can understand that the players get to like a manager and it’s unsettling for them to see him go but I don’t think anybody is suggesting that we change things now, I know I wouldn’t. We’re just over half way through the season and things might get better, we could find a settled side, playing good football and winning games. If that happens then nobody would want the manager replaced. I still think he has a lot to do to convince me that he’s anything other than average and lucky.

We were title contenders under Bobby.

Press reports before going out of the cup were hinting that we would rest players in league matches so that they would play better in the FA Cup. It was starting to look like our league position was going to take 2nd preference to doing well in the cup.
