This thread has gone from being potentially brilliant, to being the same as all the others once the usual suspect(s) got involved.

The Premiership might have a few more team ahead of us but Keegan wasn't building on a Premiership team, even as bad at the one we've got. He started off with a team that was almost bad enough to take us into the third division for the first time in out history, he started with nothing and built us up to what we became by the time he left and he didn't spend that much (net) considering where he took us, his spending was inflated by Shearer, who at the time didn't do as expected. I also think you under-estimate the difference playing on the crest of a wave makes.

I'm confident that Keegan can take this club forwards if he's given the backing, I think this club brings something out of Keegan that others can't. Obviously I could be proven wrong and will admit it if I am but I would have as much faith in Keegan getting it right here as I have in most others, especially others who would probably come here. Keegan will get the best out of those he brings in, all we need is for him to identify our problems and bring in the right players, something his record while here suggests that he will do, he's already getting better performances from the players he inherited.

And why are we in this mess? IMO it's because of bad individual performances on the pitch. I wouldn't mind seeing that one answered.

Allardyce didn't have a transfer budget, if a player was available and we could get him then we got him. Keegan had bids for 2 players which came to something like £10 million that we know of so it's safe to say that he had at least that amount to spend.

Ashley and Mort would have been slaughtered if they had sacked Allardyce before a ball was kicked and with his previous record in management they would have deserved everything they got. That is the only thing they could have done to change how things have turned out for us this year. They could have given Allardyce more money to spend, he had more money but he didn't spend it, the same goes for Keegan during the last window, so money has nothing to do with it, both managers had the option to bring more players in and both decided against that, for whatever reason. As for you not being bothered about Ashley wearing his shirt, you went to great detail to come across as being embarrassed, you even said in the same post that you were not taking the piss when you said it, that’s some length to go to try and wind people up. I say things sarcastically but I don’t go to such lengths as you did, I do the sarcasm and leave it at that. I really think you meant it but now see the hypocrisy and are back tracking.

I think we'd have been in the same situation with the "despicable men." The only differences would be that you wouldn't have been embarrassed by Ashley wearing a Newcastle shirt, you would have been defending Shepherd and we wouldn't have Keegan, we'd probably still have the manager who unexpectedly turned s*** at Newcastle. Happy? Edit, The club was 2nd in the league and profit making when Shepherd took over, how was it when he left?
