  1. I fear Fathead will be back in as soon as his foot recovers from the strain of carting his fat butt up and down the pitch. For some reason, Roeder seems to love him....

    january defence

Is it realistic or sensible to replace the entire back 4 halfway through the season? None of these players will have played with each other before.....
  4. Is that a Parky No or an ITK No? bluebiggrin.gif

  12. We've got more chance of winning the European Cup in the next decade than that pillock has of scoring 207 goals for NUFC. Hahaha God, you really hate him don't you? Whatever gives you that idea? bluebiggrin.gif
  13. Maybe he's even picked the side whilst Roeder undergoes stress counselling bluebiggrin.gif

    Huntelaar

Could be. Or could just be Oliver propaganda, who knows. Imo there'll be money to spend though, and probably always was, but we'll spend our way out of trouble if necessary as the alternative to not spending would be ruin.
  15. DID a spelling mistake????? Shouldn't 'god' be spelt with a capital 'G'?
  16. Alan Oliver died 3 years ago. They put a player's name and a load of his stock phrases - "wide of the mark", "I have it on good authority", "a source close to the club tells me" - in a bag and draw them out at random. Then they write it down and publish it. FACT!

    untapped revenue?

The first bit of cost cutting will be the £1m wages currently being paid to Shepherd and Hall. Why is selling off assets that aren't needed such a bad thing? If they are not needed why hold onto them - their depreciation being an unnecessary cost! They don't live in the area - well the Hall's haven't lived in the area for a number of years, so what's the difference. The Hall's are just "absentee landlords" and I don't think they seem to care muchfor the North-East either - well not now anyway. No sentimental attachment like Shepherd - so he's been a good chairman because he's got sentimental attachment. Don't think so. Perhaps no sentimental attachment will mean looking at the bigger picture and making decisions which may be unpopular in the short term but may bear fruit long term. As for not caring for the North-East - do the Glaziers give a toss about Salford? Does Roman care about the West End of London? Probably not - but if Belgravia have plans to build hotels and a casino which will create jobs and create extra turnover (for the City as well as the club) - well is'nt that positive! The creation of a 5 star hotel near to the ground means we can compete for UEFA cup and Champions League finals to be held as SJP. This will increase revenue plus raise the profile of the club and the area Please try not to put words in my mouth. I was presenting a balanced view of Belgravia, rather than arguing for the current board. Cheers

    untapped revenue?

These guys are experts at identifying opportunities to make money - brand exploitation, TV and merchandising rights, property development and so on. I expect they'll have far more of a strategy to build revenue than our current board and they won't think twice about buying in the expertise to do so. They won't just copy what everyone else has done either. I'm thinking it's not impossible that they'd see major opportunities that the current board don't. The flip side is true of course. They won't care about cutting costs wherever they can, if it's not part of their plan. That could include transfer fees and players wages. They won't care about selling off assets that aren't needed, they don't live in the area and will remain largely anonymous. They have no sentimental attachment to the club like Shepherd & don't care about the north east in the slightest. However people predicted disaster for MUFC with the Glaziers and it hasn't happened - yet. The Glaziers seem to have increased revenue through better sponsors, TV rights, higher ticket prices, more merchandising and re-negotiating the finance to reduce costs. Maybe that's what they've got in mind?

    Must we?

I can see the sense in getting in an striker at the end of their career certainly, but as I've said above I doubt you get someone decent on a loan deal. I'd be happy with Koller but I expect he'd need to be really unhappy to want to move now. We should have gone for an experienced striker like JFH the minute Owen got injured imo. Now we'd be looking at someone like Hartson who'd be grateful for prem football. If I was a top striker I wouldn't worry about Martins or Shola tbh

    Must we?

In reality we won't be able to loan any striker of proven premiership quality. Viduka - no chance Southgate would loan him to us, he's a regular Adebayor - no chance Wenger would loan him to us, he's a regular I can't think of any decent striker, certainly in the prem, who you could get. Not unless Diouf shags Big Sam's wife and then spits in his face. You usually only get fringe players like Aladiere or misfits like Luque on loan, ie loan players are a gamble; at this point in time we can't afford to gamble, you can't build your hopes of survival on a player like Rossi. We haven't got time for players to settle in & gain experience either. Personally I don't subscribe to your theory about only needing to buy defenders. Luque will be sold, Shola isn't good enough and Owen may be injury prone. Dyer is not a striker. Therefore we desperately need to buy another top class striker right now & for next season - we cannot score goals at the moment, unless you think we can regularly win our games 1-0, which we have proven utterly incapable of, we need to prioritise a proven goal scorer in Jan. imo of course.
