Is the concern that a big package won't be offered, there's only a £20m transfer pot or KK/DW/JV won't be able to agree on targets to sign? I don't see the first two to be an issue at all tbh.

Should have been built in Manchester imho, more central for the whole of England.

Hugo Lloris is the latest keeper to be linked with Spurs. “Tottenham have a great project for the future with a very successful manager. “I will go where I have the feeling I can improve best until the high level.” Source: L'Equipe The same L'Equipe that said Coupet was on his way to Spurs about 3 days ago. Suppose if you throw in enough names, one of them is bound to be right. Cue L'Equipe exclusive "You heard it here first" .....................

Being said in Brazil that Spurs have had a second bid for Moreno accepted.
-
Domenech preferring Barthez to Coupet says more about Domenech's selection policy rather than the merits of the 2 keepers.

According to some bloke on a Spurs forum. L'Equipe. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2008/20080522_145447_coupet-vers-tottenham_Dev.html He would be a distinct upgrade on Robinson.

Gregory Coupet very close to agreeing terms with Spurs.
-
One suggested transfer that will never happen. He'd never move to Spurs!

Agree with the first bit, don't really agree with the second. He's already turned down Spurs twice but it was Jol was keen on him. Don't think Ben Arfa is the type of player that Ramos would be keen enough on to make a third attempt. Always been said he wanted to join Arsenal but whether Wenger wants him is another thing.

Word. Whatever they are, they're not football fans.

Rock Investments, the property company he owns with Daniel Levy, is registered in the US and is building a couple of casinos in Las Vegas. I believe he spends a lot of time over there but hasn't moved. -
We've phoned for the taxi, he'll be on his way in 15 minutes! :celb:

Always possible if Kemsley can't get a consortium together to buy out Enic. Stranger things have happened. -
Moreno Tempted By Spurs Switch Cruzeiro striker Marcelo Moreno has admitted he is flattered by interest from Tottenham Hotspur… The Bolivian ace starred in the Copa Libertadores, firing eight goals in 10 games prior to Cruzeiro’s exit at the hands of Argentine giants Boca Juniors. Manchester United have targeted the 20-year-old as a possible replacement for French striker Louis Saha, who faces the axe this summer after an injury-ravaged career at Old Trafford. But Tottenham are the only club to have made a solid offer so far, as they seek attacking reinforcements given likely departures of Barcelona target Dimitar Berbatov and ₤16 million flop Darren Bent. Spurs’ initial €6 million bid was rejected last week, and Cruzeiro chairman Alvimar Perrella urged them to return with a new offer, insisting the club are willing to sell for the right price. Moreno has confessed he is tempted by the prospect of a move to North London, and said: "I was told about the offer made by Tottenham. "Of course I would like to play in England. But as I said before, I have to like the place where I will be. "The club has to get to an agreement with my agent and from what I know what has been offered wasn't enough." http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=704354

And have any of those broke the first team. Taarabt is 18 and has made his first team debut, Rose is 17 and has been on the bench twice, Parrett is 16 and not old enough to sign a professional contract. But to imply "gems" means they have like Mr N'Zogbia starred in the first team and performed. Adel Taarbet is close, but to denote 3 as gems is very premature, and as for Lennon don't get me started VASTLY over-rated sprinter. As for Spurs being the bigger club not at all. Is it 4 seasons they've been above us, as to my knowledge it's 3 they've never been in the Champions League, and their stadium is tiny. Just because their manager won the UEFA cup twice I don't think rates him. Rememeber they faced Middlesborough in the final the second time, what brilliant competition. If you look at alot of Spurs signings, Huddlestone, Zokora, Davis, Mendes, Parmarot, Gardner, Kaboul, Chimbonda, Lee, Robinson, Bent, Rasiak. They have a lot of flops, some are bigger money than others. They have ruined a lot of England prospects likes of Davenport and Huddlestone spring to mind, Davis was highly rated in his Fulham days, and Routledge with palace. I think we are either on par or slightly better than Spurs. The Carling Cup is a mickey mouse tournament and I will not consider it a "Major trophy" even if we won it tomorrow. We may never know the true reason why Modric chose Spurs, or joined them depending on your opinon, but the noises made from him mde it look weird when he then joined Spurs. I never implied 'gems', Kingdawson did. Those 3 have got potential, at the present time no more than that. I expect Taarabt to go out on a year long loan next season, probably to either WBA or Bordeaux. Maybe the same option for Rose, Parrett to remain in the Academy. Of the other players you mentioned, those that have been sold were all sold at a profit, even Rasiak went for £2,2m! I accept though that losses may occur if the others were to be sold now.

Spurs had very advanced talks about signing Arshavin in January but his wage demands were too much and it all fizzled out. There has been no mention on the Spurs boards of Arshavin joining Spurs in this window so I'm not really expecting him to wind up at WHL. Hmm, that goes against everything else which has been said. Arshavin rejected ANY move in january saying that he wanted to stay until summer. Unless you mean you were in talks in January about signing him in summer? This is what I said Last October .................. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48098.msg1160591#msg1160591 Arshavin's agent wanted more than we could afford and it fizzled out. Maybe no club would meet his wage demands so he declared his intention to stay until the summer? Maybe, I don't know.

More or less agree. Everton are the closest and could challenge the top 4 next season, I think Villa are probably next, followed by Spurs then Newcastle. I think next season will be no more than a settling in season for Spurs, maybe a Cup with some kindly draws but probably no better than 7th or 8th.

load of steaming bollocks imho. Berbs wanted to add this clause when he was negiotiating a new contract and Levy straight away rejected it, so i fail to see why we'd agree one for Modric. because you want to defend Spurs on a Newcastle board? It's hardly like you are an impartial observer here on issues like this one. Not about defending spurs. It's logic.... Where's the logic? It's a completely unsubtantiated claim. Its clear Modric has been told where to go - I'm basing that on the fact that he wasnt here when we were negotiaing with the Mamic brothers then swiftly signed for Spurs. Add to the fact we offered more money to the Mamic brothers and more money to Modric and you still wouldn't be able to see that there were obviously something in the Spurs deal which made them turn a blind eye to immediate extra cash from us....i see the logic in what James said, seems perfectly viable to me. Ok here's the logic bit.... two months or so, before the Modric deal, Berbs' piece of turd agent tries to include a minimum release clause in his contract, to which Levy calls of negotiations (this was widely reported in various papers and sites). The club then sing a totally different tune, and Poyet and co seem like they dont give a toss if Berbs leaves in interviews ect, after pleading with him to stay a while back. So now you're saying, Levy would just totally do a u-turn and give another player a minimum fee release clause, even though he didnt want to give one to our prized asset? rightttttttttttt. Ramos also tried to sign Modric at Sevilla and Modric has said how much he rates him, plus London, plus Uefa cup.... Do you know how much that minumum fee release clause was for Berbatov? Is it legitimate to compare Berbatovs situation with Modric? ie new unproven player against highly sought after proven player? Not as logical as you care to think. There never was a minimum fee release clause. Dantchev said he was prepared to negotiate a new contract for Berbatov provided that it incorporated a minimum fee release clause. Negotiations for a new contract went no further. Levy has said at a Spurs AGM that he will not authorise the signing of a new player if the player/agent wishes to include restrictive clauses. I would guess that Levy would interpret a minimum fee release clause as a restrictive clause.

From Sport Express: Russia striker Andrei Arshavin has been linked with a move to Tottenham or Arsenal after his agent confirmed he is attracting interest from a trio of western European clubs. The 26-year-old, part of the Russia squad which secured qualification to Euro 2008, is one of the country's brightest talents and is thought to be keen to leave reigning Premier Liga champions Zenit for a new challenge. "We have three offers for Arshavin. All three are from strong European teams", Arshavin's agent Pavel Andreev told Sport Express. "We are currently considering the pros and cons of each and carrying out consultations. Andrei wants to leave and is interested in playing abroad. "Everything will be in place no later than Wednesday." According to the newspaper, the three teams in question are believed to be Tottenham and Ar5ena1 and French Ligue 1 side Marseille. However, Zenit spokesman Konstantin Sarsania insists no approach has been made for the player. Arshavin, currently on a pre-season tour with Zenit in the United Arab Emirates, has made no secret of his desire to play in England. "For now I am here in the UAE as a Zenit player and am only thinking about tomorrow's training session," he said. "Regarding my future, I have already said I'd like to try one of Europe's top leagues, among which the Spanish and English leagues interest me most." Near certainty to replace Hleb imho. But the agent suggests we won't have to wait long to find out........................

Is that a recent interview? In the last 2 or 3 days apparently. If Gomis is on our list of possible signings, I think he would be down the pecking order, there's a lot of other strikers being linked to us tbh. There's even talk that Berbatov may give Ramos a season to get into the CL. Personally, I think he'll go but I've no idea who would be the probable replacement.
