  1. Gomis 2003-5 Comolli 2004
  2. Of course Comolli knows Gomis, he was the DoF at St Etienne! In an interview with France Football, Comolli said "I know Bafe well, he is an excellent player. But I can assure you that there is no contact between him and Tottenham." BTW, Ramos, Comolli and Levy have been in Barcelona this weekend, with not a lot of joy apparently.
  3. I put a link in a thread and got favourable comments which, tbf, I did expect. There's not many families in the UK that haven't been touched by the bastard disease in one form or another. My donation was tucked away in the justgiving link a while ago now, just pleased that it has gone well.
  4. Some of the quotes regarding SBR on a Spurs forum following the FA Cup.............. Is now on 30 years since they won the cup, what a great man legend, looking well Quality Bloke. Top bloke Top man and a real football legend. I thought his choice was most appropriate and found his presence very moving Sir Bobby Robson is my latter day hero and inspiration. I believe he has now battled Cancer 5 times during the past 7 years. Why is he my hero - because unfortunately I too have had similar problems as Sir Bobby coincidently also over the past 7 years and when I see how he has coped and carried on it does nothing but inspire!!! I often remind people when they are sl*gging off whoever the latest England manager is at the time that Sir Bobby was often once ridiculed in a similar vein. The word Legend is banded around to often, but Sir Bobby Robson is in a league of true legends. It was great to see a true football man like Sir Bobby honoured today, he deserved every minute of it I'm just saying true football fans will always have respect for those that deserve respect. I'm also bumping the thread just in case anyone thought about donating but never got round to it .....................
  5. I'm somewhat surprised. Why go there to be a back-up player for Woodgate & King? Sure they are the most injury prone CB-pair in Europe, but I would have thought that Dunne would rather fancy being a starter here instead. Would have thought Dunne would be a starter at Spurs most of the time tbh. If Spurs get a dozen starts out of Ledders next season I think they'll be doing well. You not a spurs fan anymore? Not since they rushed me for £1150 for my ST!!

    Comolli Sucks

The piece by Gary Jacob is very selective to say the least. 8 players were rejected by Ramos. I'm surprised tbh, I would have expected it to be more and it probably is. Ramos wants a particular position filled, Comolli comes up with a collection of names who he knows are/could be available. Some names move forward to the next stage, some are discarded for whatever reason. The preferred order is agreed by Ramos and Comolli then put to the Transfer Committee (Ramos, Comolli, Levy and Alexander). The financial side is discussed and agreed then Comolli tries to get the deal done. Jacob's article suggests that Comolli is going around making these deals like a loose cannon. The reality is totally different. Darren Bent, for example, was agreed at a much lower fee than £15.5m rising to £16.5m before West Ham intervened. The final say to proceed at the higher level of fee was Levy's and took into account the belief that Berbatov would be on his way in that window. Of course Comolli's recommendations aren't going to be right every time but they are more right than wrong imho.
  9. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I've been going on about Palambo for a long time on the spurs boards and no one knew who i was on about. I would be over the moon if we get him. Talksport reporting that we've signed Dos Santos. What a shitty signing that would be. I tend not to believe anything that's said on Talksh*te tbh, though Paul Hawksby (who is a Spurs ST holder) reported it as saying it was confirmed to him at the Player of the Year Awards last night so I think he considers it genuine. Personally, I don't think there's anything in it at all, though I'd be happy to see him at WHL.
  10. Always trust the Mirror to tell it like it really is!
  11. I think this relates to a caller to Talksh*te mid morning. There's a number of threads going on about it. One thread started......Newcash fan says on radio that he has it on good authority that Cashley will sign Berbatov for £20m(claims Berbie is a lifelong newcash supporter). You could actually hear the 2 hosts giggling in the background. The next post was ........ Is there any way we could plant this fake rumour on newcastle boards? Just so it takes momentum and they actually start believing it...... I know some here can get on, the link is http://coys.sportsmaestros.com/index.php?showtopic=97617 It's a windup, ignore it.
  12. Spurs linked with Angelo Palombo for around £10m, a hard DM is definitely needed. Spurs ITK's are all agreed Bostock is costing £100k upfront, further £400k when he makes his debut and more extras, numbers of appearances, international appearances, winning pots, up to a max of £5m. Typical Levy deal tbh.

    The Wage Bill

I can honestly say Spurs' prices are sickening, isn't it £70+ for a ticket in the east stand atm? I know I know someone who paid £65 to see Liverpool last season, I can only assume they've gone up since then. Also, out of interest rather than piss take, did Spurs ever sell out pre Martin Jol? I'm convinced they didn't, which makes new stadium talk seem premature, but I could well be wrong. Also, you're not f****** wrong you dodged a bullet with Duff. Offering £2m more than us for the player is a strange way of doing it though Yep, it was £71 for a Cat A game in the West Upper last season. For next season, my ST has got jacked up to £1150. God knows what they'd charge if we ever got CL competition! Spurs have usually sold out/nearly sold out throughout the Enic years, including pre Martin Jol. Spurs, along with a few others, report attendances by people through the turnstile, not tickets sold, so if someone with a ticket doesn't turn up, the attendance goes down. Other clubs, Arsenal when they were at Highbury was one, report attendances by tickets sold irrespective of whether they supporter actually turns up. I don't know why there should be a difference though.
  14. Liverpool after Bentley. Reinforces the theory that Pennant is on his way.

    The Wage Bill

There's an awful lot of sense there. The transfer fee is only part of the financial burden, the wages are a much bigger drain on resources. I recall at a Spurs AGM Levy being asked why Chris Perry was sold for only £100k when we should have been able to get £1m for him. Levy's reply was that we may have lost £900k on the transfer budget but we saved £5m on the wage bill. Your comments about Duff (Spurs really dodged a bullet there) and Smith fall into the same category. They may be worth more than £500k and £1m respectively, Newcastle may get a little more than that, but if they aren't doing the job that KK wants them to do, the important thing is to get them off the wage bill if at all possible. Your comments about corporate boxes in London are spot on. Spurs' proposed new stadium is more to do with getting more corporate boxes than housing more of the traditional fans and the boxes at the Emirates produce more income on a matchday (£1.7m approx) than the rest of the stadium put together (£1.3m approx). London and Home Counties salaries determine the going rate for admission prices, the 9.4% increase in season ticket prices for next season that Spurs have recently announced shows that they still believe there is more money to be sucked out of Joe Public. I'm not happy about it but I, along with everyone else, will grudgingly cough up the extra money
  16. He would have joined them at the same time as Kolo but fell foul of the work permit laws.
  17. John Bostock is/has signed for Spurs (according to Neil Warnock) EAGLES chief Neil Warnock has blasted John Bostock and his representatives after the teenager decided to join Spurs in a deal reported to be in the region on ?5m. Warnock had hoped the teenager would sign his first professional contract with Palace, but the 16-year-old has opted for a move to White Hart Lane. And after it emerged that Bostock was close to sealing a deal with Spurs, a furious Warnock told the Advertiser: "I'm so disappointed about the whole Bostock situation. I wasn't aware that it was close to going through until I got on the coach last night. "I've heard that he has left because a member of my stuff has allegedly told him that he wouldn't be able to play in my system -- it's just a total excuse. "I just wish he came up to me and said, 'Neil, we've weighed up our options and decided to go to Spurs' -- I would have accepted that. "But to say that one of my members of staff has told him that he wouldn't fit in with my style of play is absolute garbage. "He has gone for the money -- simple. "I missed out on Ruben Zadkovich (who joined Derby) because I thought he would hinder Bostock's progress and now he does this." http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=250122&command=displayContent&sourceNode=250118&contentPK=20626741&folderPk=115337&pNodeId=250138 Spurs bid for Cruzeiro's Marcelo Moreno fails. Moreno has been attracting plenty of interest and Tottenham have been strongly linked as doubts continue to surround the future of Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane. It now looks as though a bid has gone in for the player but Cruzeiro president Alvimar Perrella says it was not enough and has been thrown out by the club. "The proposal was well short of what we expected," said Perella. "For now, Moreno remains here and we count on him in Brazil. Of course, they should return to make a new offer but, until now, no [they haven't]." Shakhtar Donetsk are reported to have offered £6million and Spurs would have to offer substantially more if they wanted to wrap up a deal. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/articles/732808.html
  18. I think Newcastle will sign Lennon tbh.
  19. He won't cost anything apart from his signing on fee, it's a Bosman. I'm hoping Robbie Keane will persuade him, they're mates having lived in the same street in Tallaght as kids. Are we still on about Dunne? As I don't know if this thread has took a turn in a different direction. As he's not out of contract is he? Dunne's out of contract apparently, yes.

  21. True. Chelsea wouldn't be that stupid?!?! :-) Stupid enough to lash out £16.2m on Bosingwa, I suppose anything is possible. Can't believe the number of people on the Spurs forums saying it's not enough tbh!
  22. With Eto'o now looking to be on his way to Inter, Berbatov's replacement still to be sorted. Latest info from ITK's is that Chelsea want Berbatov and have offered Anelka, SWP and £5m for him, plus contribute to the wage bill to preserve our salary structure. I'd settle for that, one sulk for another with sweep thrown in (and presumably Lennon to be moved on), but I know a lot of fans just see Anelka as tainted goods and won't accept him even if he is wearing the shirt. I don't think this option will happen either tbh.
  23. Spurs being linked again with John Bostock, just as we were in January. I think there is a good chance of this happening sooner or later. If it doesn't happen, it won't be because of Simon Jordan, he owes Levy a big one for our help a couple of years ago.
  24. ........... amd according to the WH boards Freddie says he won't go unless they up the offer to £6m!! Straight out of the Winston Bogarde Book of Commitment and Loyalty. mackems.gif A contract is a two-way thing. The clubs should never have offered him it in the first place if they weren't prepared to honour it. The WH fans should be annoyed at Curbishley and Magnusson tbh. I don't disagree with you. Curbishley went into a transfer window with a lot of new foreign money and bought a collection of crocks, Magnusson didn't keep any control on what was going on and ultimately got sacked for it and it's now all coming home to roost. I've no complaint with FL saying he'll see out the contract with the reserves or kids if need be, it's the comments from the bingo club's finest fans that have really brightened my day!
