I'm told that Newcastle have been showing an interest, but SGE appears to showing more. I think if he does move he'll cost more than £10m. Whether he is worth it is a totally different question.

All set for a return to PSV in the summer.

Fair play to you for coming on here today. I thought you just about shaded the first half, but it was by no means a travesty it went in all square, I can only remember one save from Harper, and Beye hit the bar. Dawson and O'Hara may have been committed but they were both terrible - Hutton looked good to me though. Your midfield is shocking, completely overrun, and whilst Bent and Keane looked threatening Berbs put in one of his classic 'couldn't give a s***' performances. I'd agree with you that we weren't brilliant, but we were very, very good, and tore you to pieces especially as you pushed on for an equaliser. Geremi's goal showed why Robinson shouldn't be playing for you anymore. No big issue for me to come here, been doing it regualarly for nearly 3 years and haven't spoken about a Spurs win yet! I think that, Hutton apart, it was a bad day at the office for all of them. I can live with that. It's rare for all players to play well, normally one or two will play badly sometimes and if they all play badly it makes it look worse than it really is. What really boiled my p*ss yesterday was the fact that most weren't bothered whether we won, lost or got hammered, it was like the summer holidays start now. I've heard that Ramos hadn't calmed down today even after a night's sleep! I wouldn't be bothered if we didn't win another game this season so long as the players who wear the shirt put in a shift and if that means bringing in a few of the kids, so be it. Defeat is part and parcel of the game, it happens. Just rolling over because you can't be arsed to put in some work isn't.

From a Spurs perspective, there's not really much to say. In the first half we were decent if not great, the second half was probably the worst 45 minutes we've played all season. Ramos didn't help with a bit of experimenting but experiments should still produce commitment and Dawson and Hutton apart, maybe include O'Hara to a degree, commitment was lacking also. TBH, I didn't think Newcastle were wonderful but were far too good for a woeful Spurs. I don't think I would want to be one of the players at training this morning. At least Ramos should be now aware of exactly who has the capability and commitment to take Spurs forward. As I've said in earlier threads, I think there will be significant changes in the summer. And on the strength of the second half performance, the summer can't come soon enough.

I'm pleased that it's going well for him at Pompey. He will always score goals during the course of a season but contributes practically nothing in the spells when he isn't scoring. I've no regrets that he moved on and I think Redknapp will get more out of him than anyone else. Doing well at Pompey doesn't mean he would have been doing similarly well elsewhere.

Depending on which source says it, SGE is interested to the tune of £12m, £14m or £16m. The one thing they're all agreed on is that if the right offer comes in and we can buy a suitable replacement Lennon can go. At some stage he will learn how to cross a ball but it depends on how long you're prepared to wait for that.

Is N'Zogbia's exit inevitable? (Maybe not - Page 24!)

Personally, I doubt it very much. -
This story should never have hit the public domain. Whinger will be salivating at the thought.................

Spurs enquired about Foster and got a very sharp 'not for sale'.

If N'Zogbia is a cert for leaving, wouldn't he be in the shop window and playing a bit more? And where would he go to? I don't think Spurs would want him since they signed Gilberto, I don't think he's good enough for the scum and the spanners have a few options for LM already. I can't see him being signed by a London team. -

The scum are rivals on locality, not on playing ability. Yeah, i'm aware of the geography I was refering to the Hammers - Spurs thing. In the past (Under SBR for example) i don't recall much Anti-Spurs comments from NUFC fans. Since our decline and your improvement in fortunes you see much more of it. Antipathy is likely to be stronger when the 2 clubs can be compared in terms of performance or they are both competing for more or less the same thing, i.e. Arsenal vs Manure. I think it eminates from clubs being roughly similar sizewise and their mutual aim to play with a bit of style. It could be argued that West Ham and Newcastle are roughly on a par with Spurs, the intensity grows when one club wins trophies and the other two don't. I'm not talking about the Carling Cup this year but over the past 30 years Spurs have won a number of trophies in both Europe and domestically, WHU won one in the early 80's and Newcastle haven't won any in that time. There's no real logic why that should be so, that's just the way it has been. Maybe perceptions of who our rivals are would be different now if Newcastle had won one of the 2 Cup Finals or not been done at the end by Man Utd in the Premier League. The fact is that Spurs have won some trophies in that period and Newcastle have just come up a little short in the Premier League and FA Cup, not just once but on a number of occasions. The gap between being winning and losing is very small. Both West Ham and Boro have won a Cup but neither have done enough to suggest that there is the consistency there for them to be viewed as genuine competition. Personally, I see Newcastle as competition to Spurs and West Ham not, which could be considered strange as West Ham are above Spurs and Newcastle below. I believe Newcastle can win something each year in exactly the same way as I think about Spurs. I never honestly think West Ham (or Boro) are likely to win anything. -

Without getting involved in the 'big club' thing again, West Ham and Chelsea historically (70'/80's) viewed themselves as being a big club like Spurs but jealous that Spurs were successful in domestic and european cup competition. Since the formation of the Premier League Chelsea motored ahead and even more so when Abramovich took over. With West Ham, they still haven't moved on so they hang on to the old belief that they are rivals to Spurs and Chelsea. Personally, whilst there are a lot of London derbies each season, the only ones that really matter to me are against the scum, how I view West Ham is no different to how Chelsea view Fulham. Chelsea are a bigger club on the field than Spurs on the field, even if that success was bought, but I view them as the level to aspire to, not rivals, because quitely clearly at the present time we're not. Got it. Arsenal Spurs is like Newcastle Sunderland, but West Ham hating you is a bit like Boro hating us whereas we regard Boro as no different to any other team we play. It's clear. Exactamundo!! -

Really? If I was a Newcastle fan, I'd have a fit Ashton in the team ahead of any of your strikers bar Martins. I would have thought the only question mark is his ability to stay fit, not his ability in general. well, maybe he's better than Viduka, cause he's younger and more physical.. but i've developed an irrational disliking for bleached footballers, which may cloud my judgment.. oh and Koumas Whoever could you mean?

youve qualled for europe allready .... Even if we hadn't, it wouldn't change my thinking. If blooding youngsters is more important to Spurs than finishing ahead of West Ham I would do it. If the league positions changed, Spurs were 10th and WHU 11th, there's a £500k loss to the spanners. If they think developing their youngsters is worth more than £500k they should do it irrespective of what the fans thought. -

............ because Newcastle were blooding youngsters, how would you feel? Under no circumstances or would you accept it as it was for the long term benefit of your team? Alan Curbishley says he would put youngsters in for the spanners but only if it didn't mean that they fell behind Spurs in the league table! ........... Teenage striker Freddie Sears, defender James Tomkins and England Under-21 midfielder Mark Noble have brought the feel-good factor back to Upton Park during an uninspiring campaign from the club's more established stars. Hammers fans would take a bottom-half finish if it means they get to see more of the local kids that have excited them. But Curbishley, an East End boy himself, insists supporters do not want to end up below the old enemy. He said: "It depends on whether Spurs are likely to finish above us. The fans won't be too happy about that. We'll have to see. "It's the bigger picture I must look at. I have no doubts about putting the youngsters in and if the situation arises I'll do it............. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/03/28/west-ham-boss-alan-curbishley-has-dilemma-over-young-stars-89520-20365558/ Personally, provided there is nothing to play for and we don't get relegated, it wouldn't bother me if Spurs were behind West Ham (or any other club for that matter) if it was being caused by decisions that would be for the long term benefit of the club. I'd take short term pain for long term gain. I'm just very surprised that Curbishley would consider what the fans thought before what he thought was good for the club.

Spurs asked for a Sunday match to give an extra day's rest for players returning from internationals. Some clubs agree, some don't. Newcastle did. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=51224.75 Paul Barber is a Director of THFC, Darren Alexander is on the committee of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Trust.

I think he's right, just hope the winning habit doesn't start on Sunday. He'll be guaranteed a warm welcome though. Legend.

What is a compact, like 4 seperate stands?? No, just square shaped rather than an oval. It apparently means seating is closer to the pitch as it is now at WHL. It's being said that the plot isn't big enough to house a bowl, but I'm not an expert and I've no idea whether it is or not. This is the area I've taken off the forum: http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/1273/screenshot1ip0.png No problem!! -
Didn't know you live in Liverpool tbh!!

Bulgaria is in the EU no? True, but wasn't there some sort of condition that there wouldn't be freedom of employment rights from the start? I think there is a restriction of some sort in place.

I wonder who Spurs cast offs will be? Provided the replacements materialise and acceptable bids come in (and they are big provisos) I would say the highly likely list would be Robinson, Chimbonda, Wipey, Tainio, Stalteri, Cerny, Ghaly and Rocha. The possibles could include Boateng, Kaboul, Bent, Dawson and Lennon. Some are nearing out of contract, others haven't settled, and others havent performed anything like consistently enough for Ramos' liking. The talk about Ronaldinho and David Villa moving to Spurs, whilst highly unlikely, isn't new tbh. It was reported that Spurs were quoted £14m by Barca about 2 months ago (BBC are now saying £12m) and since then Spurs have been making arrangements with regard to a sponsorship deal which would keep the salary structure in place. Villa's agent has already said that he would welcome a move to the Premiership, perhaps rather pointedly said that the club need not be currently playing in the CL, the important thing for Villa is that he works with a coach he can trust. So conceivably they could both make the move to Spurs. Realistically, I don't expect either playing at WHL next season on a regular basis but I can but hope. Finally, a couple of informed people on Spurs forums are saying that Spurs have submitted 2 sets of outline plans for for a new stadium close to WHL holding either 55k or 62k on a site which is currently an industrial estate. Spurs are said to have paid £2m for an option plus a further £17m if they proceed to buy, plus the cost of relocating some of the businesses elsewhere. Also reckoned to be a compact, not a bowl. An announcement on the final option is expected in 1-2 months. No idea how true that is but I would guess that might well be pretty accurate, an announcement regarding the new stadium has long been expected by June 2008.
