I got kicked out of WHL with only a £4m payoff and now you want to change my name??

Matthew Upson £10m for Zeke is being reported as having been accepted. We just need Levy to stop haggling over wages and get the deal done. At least 3 deals have gone down the tubes this window because of pennypinching on wages.
-
Sadly that was true. If ever a nickname reflected the player, Sir Les was perfect. A true gent.
-
Dunno tbh. There isn't an ITK who's called this, at least one would normally see this coming, it's only in the Mail. I'm not convinced about its accuracy tbh.

£9m and a dollop of lard? No thanks ................. to the lard!!

I honestly wasn't doing a wind up, I was passing on what I was hearing and it seems like the Sun are hearing the same. Chimbo will be gone as soon as we can get a replacement in, Hutton was obviously the preferred choice, Miguel and a couple of others are on the radar. As I said before, it's all about money.

What Spurs_from_Africa said. If you really do believe that Spurs fans think we've had the best team for the past 10 years, we're the best team in Europe etc etc I feel sorry for you because you really do have a problem. During that period we've spent more time in the bottom half than the top, you know, we know it.

Wonder if we'll match that now or not? If Ashley wants to give Keegan a blank cheque, it'd seem a bit silly not to use it to outbid/match another clubs offer for a supposed target. If given the choice, i'd like to think Woodgate would choose us. No doubt in my mind that if he did have the choice, Woody would choose Newcastle. ££££££££££ No, location. Northern lad, played for Newcastle before, wouldn't have to move. If he did have the choice I can't think of one good reason why he would opt for Spurs.

Already being suggested on a Spurs forum that Ledders and Woody could job share!! That's the problem though, two top class CD's but both are made of glass. I'm hoping that if it is true, Woody is the backup deal should Garay all fall through.

The Mail are now saying a Spurs offer of £7m has been accepted!! Not happy tbh if it's true. Spurs and Middlesbrough agree £7million fee for Woodgate Last updated at 23:09pm on 24th January 2008 Comments Tottenham have had a £7million offer for Jonathan Woodgate accepted by Middlesbrough, who have given the defender permission to talk with the London club. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=510225&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow

The Daily Mail are saying: Spurs switch focus to £7m Woodgate Last updated at 22:15pm on 24th January 2008 Comments Tottenham are ready to make a £7million offer for Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Woodgate as they prepare to pull out of a move for his team-mate Stewart Downing. Although Gareth Southgate insists he is in no rush to sell either player, the Boro manager is keen for their futures to be resolved quickly after losing striker Yakubu in a £13m deal to Everton right at the end of the August transfer window, leaving him little time to find a replacement. Newcastle's interest in their former centre-back Woodgate has cooled with new boss Kevin Keegan only prepared to offer £4m. Tottenham are close to matching the £7m Woodgate cost Boro from Real Madrid in the summer, but are unlikely to meet Boro's £10m asking price for Downing. Spurs have set a Sunday deadline for agreement to be reached on Tiago's £9m move from Juventus. A fee has been agreed between the two clubs, but Tiago's inflated wage demands are proving to be a stumbling block with the former Chelsea player demanding around £50,000-a-week and Spurs reluctant to go above £40,000. If the midfielder refuses to bend by the weekend then boss Juande Ramos will pursue other targets, with Valencia's out-of-favour Spanish midfielder David Albelda one option. Spurs goalkeeper Radek Cerny admits he would be interested in a move to QPR — even though he has just become first-choice at White Hart Lane. Cerny's loan deal from Slavia Prague expires in the summer and his agent Pavel Paska is believed to have held talks with QPR's co-owner Flavio Briatore. "Considering that my contract in Tottenham expires in the summer, I must be looking for a different club," said Cerny. "If QPR were it, then I would go there." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=510225&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow Don't think Spurs are after Woodgate, they're chasing after Garay. Can't believe that KK would only offer £4m, Boro would never sell him at that price. The bit in the article about Woodgate seems to me to be well off the mark

sure he did.. Well, if he didn't, I don't think Spurs would be looking for a new RB tbh because he is good. Do players never wish to leave Spurs by choice by any chance? Jesus wept... Well I did say last year that he was in need of a signing on fee.... BTW there is also talk of Chimbonda of moving to either Man City or Newcastle for £9/10m. Don't know whether there is truth is the clubs mentioned but Chimbo has money problems and is need of a signing on fee. I think he'll definitely be gone in the summer if not in January. He was driven by money to leave Wigan. His departure from Spurs will be for the same reason. Again, nothing to do with Spurs being a bigger club than Wigan, or that he thinks a move to another club would be for the same reason of course... In part. Spurs are perceived to be bigger than Wigan and Spurs were prepared to pay him £22k (subsequently increased to £30k) which Wigan could not afford. As I understand it, he now wants £90k or pay £2m(?) fee for signing up a new contract. If someone else is prepared to pay that kind of money, well fine, they may be a bigger club or they may have lost all sense of reality. The truth is Chimbo is driven by money and whichever club will pay more than his current one, he'll go there.

It was quite widely reported, usually in conjunction with Defoe spraying Wenger with champagne Other members of the Arsenal delegation, including the managing director Keith Edelman, had left the stadium early possibly anticipating traffic problems around the ground. Indeed, while Arsenal were represented in the directors' box until the final whistle, some directors left their seats around the 70-minute mark with Spurs well en route to a first victory over their bitter rivals in 21 attempts. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2245845,00.html But a), that only mentions the Directors, not the fans and b), it tries to justify their early departure by citing traffic problems. So still waiting to see some condemnation of the Arsenals fans' attitude. Apologies, I understand your point now. TBH, the vast majority of the journos are either Arsenal or Chelsea so the likelihood of getting a true representation in the press of what happened is very unlikely. I doubt whether there were 200/250 Arsenal fans still left in WHL to see Adebayor score the consolation, let alone see the final whistle.
-
That's why I was happy to give credit where it was deserved. A club like Arsenal doesn't deserve fans like that tbh.

I'll be praying for a similar result. The only thing better than seeing L'Arse getting beat 5-1 is to see them getting beat 5-1 in consecutive matches!

I thought Spurs were waiting for Juve to sign Momo before signing Tiago. Ath Madrid only wanted him on loan for the rest of the season. We'll find out in the next couple of days.

I believe Chimbonda will move to Newcastle in the summer as there probably isn't enough time to get someone in and sell Chimbo on in this window. Time will tell.

thats the point, why praise him? its hardly a chore to support them. But I think there's something to be said for hanging around when you're 5 down against your bitter rivals and otherwise doing well; support in the face of adversity/perversity. Very true. Showed more support than most of the 'fans' around him. Or the Arsenal officials in the Directors Box for that matter too. Only two stayed to the end of the match, Keith Edelman cleared off after 70 minutes apparently.

Over 1000 empty seats in the away end when they played at our place this season, which isn't really what you expect from a relatively nearby club, with lots of local gloryhunters, who've won almost everything in recent years. And those that turned up sat on their arses for the 90 minutes. Maybe I'm just used to ours always standing away, but I associated away fans who sit with not really being bothered too much. Chelsea were much better when they had a s*** ground and no money in the 80s, they used to bring loads and make a lot of noise. They've gone downhill. Can't disagree with that. Since Abramovich bought them they have attracted a load of fans who have no interest in football other than supporting a "big team" and eating prawn sandwiches.

Supporting his team through thick and thin while the fair weather fans had already gone. Stayed right to the end and credit to Diaby who walked right up to the away corner to applaud him back. Got nothing but respect for the fella, a true fan.
