  1. Someone(s) of Skunkers. I can't belive this can be true. If it is Ashley clearly hasn't thought through the Sammy Dice sacking and this is him just panicking and phoning his mates with blank cheque books. Dissapointing if true. On the contrary, I reckon this has been the plan all along, just a case of picking the right moment. Personally, assuming it does happen, I think Newcastle could be starting on their most successful spell since Keegan's days........... and Keegan only got close to winning things. With money available I think Redknapp is a winner.
  2. You should start worrying when Adams drives the team bus to and from the Christmas party!!
  3. Adams will become the new Portsmouth boss, I reckon. Far from convinced tbh. Learnt a lot from 'Arry but nowhere near the finished article yet. A lot more sense would be for Shearer to become the #2, it would give him the 3 or 4 years experience to take total control. If Shearer doesn't take it on, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jamie involved. When he played at Spurs he was coaching the u12's as part of his Pro Badge qualification. Impressed doing that, enough for Spurs to go flat out to get him signed on as the Head Academy Coach. Arnesen's feeling was that Jamie was destined for the top if he wanted it.
  4. I honestly think he be good for you. Better than Jol by a distance and more streetwise than Hughes. He might seem like an East London barrow boy but so is Kemsley, so is Ashley. The fact that they've known each other for years counts for a hell of a lot imho. If Redknapp said he wanted to spend £50m in this window, I don't believe for a minute that Ashley would say no. Ashley's from Buckinghamshire man. Trading like an Eastender though. Paul Kemsley, Philip Green, Alan Sugar, Mike Ashley, they're all like peas in a pod when dealing with money.
  5. £50 at 66/1 (though I laid some off) got me 2 weeks in Mauritius. Roeder was just on a lucky streak though. No doubt in my mind Redknapp will be a success.

  7. I don't disagree, though Mourinho would have to be after the summer as well due the Chelsea departure clauses. But as it's already been said the new man hopefully will be British, you can cross them all off the list! I've had £100 at 12/1 on Redknapp simply because the links between Redknapp and Ashley's best mate. This is what I said a couple of months ago: Generally speaking, I'd agree with you. Redknapp has had his house outside Bournemouth since he first managed them and has refused to move even when he was managing West Ham. But I know that Ashley and Kemsley have owned racehorses and that Kemsley and Redknapp have. I was told yesterday that a couple were owned jointly by all three. If that is right (and I've no reason to doubt it) that would put Ashley very close to Redknapp. He'd never sell the Bournemouth place but whether he would move up to Tyneside is a bit more debateable. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=47106.msg1086582#msg1086582 (page 5) Redknapp wouldn't be a bad choice for Newcastle, maybe just a bid short-termist. I hope he gets it tbh. He won't get me to Mauritius like Roeder but I could still get a decent break out of it! Please let it be true!! :celb:

    Martin Jol

For every good player there has been a Marco Boogers, Paulo Futre and Florin Raducioiu.... Wenger had Christophe Wreh! Redknapp's overall record is a lot more hits than misses.
  9. Aye, and the rest. 51k would be more accurate.
  10. What do you not trust Alan Oliver's views, ha ha. I've always thought Martin Jol got things right (e.g. Duff to Newcastle, Carrick to Man U before they were in the papers) Only he didn't get anything right, other people did and he claimed the info to be his own. Plagiarism tbh. And hopelessly inaccurate as usual. I've said here many times that I can often get verification of information from an ITK, but very very rarely have I heard anything firsthand. If you struggle to comprehend that, it's hardly my fault!

    Martin Jol

Can't believe anyone would prefer to have him over Redknapp, one of the great old time wheeler dealers. As having a soft spot for Newcastle, I'd hate to see him become the new manager. Now if Wenger left, I'd be happy to see him join the scum up the road. Nuff said?
  12. Phil Ifil flogged to Colchester for not a lot.
  13. Two 5th places followed by his departure when the team was in the bottom 3. Anyway, with your ownership and his associates, there is absolutely no way Jol would get offered the job (imho). Agree. What you reckon Klinsmann? Klinsmann is said to be in a business venture with one of the scousers' American owners, so if he is going to leave California to manage over here, I think it would be if the Americans ditch Rafa in the summer. I've put my money on 'Arry and I've heard nothing to make me feel less confident tbh.
  14. Wait, what? Referring to Ramos and his impact at Spurs. It's no surprise they are looking the part under Ramos. Ashley will have taken note. Aye, but the word is that Redknapp was offered the job prior to that. Harry himself said he recently turned out what he considered a "massive job" in the Premiership. Who else could that be? Chelsea? There was talk that Redknapp was offered the Man City job before SGE. Don't know if there was any truth in it though.
  15. Because the Spurs guy wanted Redknapp instead of Ramos. Did Redknapp not say this morning that he has already turned down a bigger job than Newcastle this season. Im assuming he is talking about Spurs then? If he thinks the Spurs job is bigger than Newcastle then he shouldn't really be considered anyway. Redknapp was never offered the Spurs job.
  16. Ashley didn't see his mate pluck a foreign coach out of Europe, his mate wanted Redknapp. Comolli wanted Ramos, the board agreed and Ashley's mate resigned.

  18. There is that, but ultimately, everyone in the football world is linked. Diarra was no doubt being courted by a number of clubs including Spuds, I believe. You can join these dots many ways, but only the clinically insane would join them to form Redknapp's ugly mug. I reckon the Diarra deal was instigated by Mourinho who's been lurking in the shadows for a few weeks now. Correct. And we've just been told that Diarra's move to SJP is now on hold. Don't know if that is the club or Diarra putting it on the back burner at the moment, but perhaps not surprising news. There is that, but ultimately, everyone in the football world is linked. Yes, Spurs want him and are pushing the 'you won't have to move and you'll play regularly' ticket even though other clubs will offer more him more cash. From what I can gather he's more bothered about playing than anything else, so assuming Newcastle are offering more in salary, it would make sense to see who comes in to replace Big Sam and get the same assurances. For him to make the move now and then find that the new manager doesn't rate him highly wouldn't make any sense at all.

  20. You need good contacts and footballing knowledge to identify who that guy is though. It is questionable whether this is the case for Mort and Ashley. It could be that their most trusted contact is Kemsley, and Kemsley leads to Redknapp. .................... assuming that isn't a direct link from Ashley to Redknapp already.
  21. No-one tbh. The writing was on the wall for Jol at the end of last season, Levy was keen on SGE (as he and SBR had helped out a lot when Arnesen left) but he got tied in with Man City before it was for certain whether Jol was going or staying. Ramos was Comolli's #1 pick, Kemsley wanted Redknapp. They decided to sound out Ramos and the rest, as they say, is history.
  22. Jamie is fully qualified with a Pro badge. When he left Spurs to go to Pompey, Spurs tried hard to get him to take over as Head Coach of the Academy but he wanted to keep on playing so we eventually signed Alex Inglethorpe instead.
  23. Yes, but the numbers are not quite accurate.
  24. Not just a big fan of Redknapp, they're all as thick as thieves. I've done a post on another thread. One thing I would say with certainty. Martin Jol won't be in the running now that Ashley owns NUFC. When Shepherd tapped him up he could have come but not a cat in hell's chance now.
