I'm told Willie McKay on his behalf has asked for a new contract tripling his wages and hinted that he might not play too well until he gets one. That's why Spurs are trying to get a replacement RB in.
-
I was surprised how poor he was on Tuesday, didn't look anything like up to the standard Whinger would be expecting. Apart from that, I'd never advocate taking a player on loan unless there was an option to buy.

Well, if it was a choice of the scum or us, most with ambition would be headed for the dark star, but I was told he was looking for £80k. As a said, that's too rich for Spurs' salary structure. Journo on a Spurs site is saying Diarra to Pompey tomorrow, £5.5m and £60k wages. Another one would have loved at WHL even if he was a scum reject. How many Arsenal regulars are on £80k per week like? A few apparently. Fabregas is the top earnerrumoured to be on £120k which had been Henry's salary, Toure and Gallas are both £90/100k, Hleb is £80k, there are very few who are poorly paid.. New shiny stadium, usually buy players for peanuts and sell them for a lot, they can easily afford to pay top dollar if they want to. pity about the £100 you stuck on Redknapp isn't it? C'est la vie.

There's strong rumours that Arshavin will be signing for the scum in July. Last I heard was that his wage demands were too rich for our salary structure. French Canal are reporting that Fred will be signing for Spurs tomorrow. No ITK's are saying it will definitely happen, just a few maybe's.

did he not expect to be drop after constantly making mistakes? Maybe not. Jol wouldn't drop him, one of his 'untouchables'.

Robbo asks for a transfer according to the Daily Mail. So much for 'I'm going to fight for my place in the team'. Maybe the signing of Stekelenberg or Kameni isn't too far away and Robbo knows what that would mean.
-
He's not signed officially yet. He was having a medical today apparently, hopefully he can play against City tomorrow. PSG have also had their bid accepted as well. Now up to the player Also Downing very close to agreeing terms with Spurs (needed that like a hole in the head!) and Diarra talking terms with Spurs tomorrow. If he still wants £90k pw fair to assume that is dead in the water before it even starts. Hope so. Don't want him here. Didn't want him at WHL either. Absolutely gutted as there are now 3 top notch ITKs saying it is nearly done. Even more so when they start talking about £12m!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That could include add-ons but Jeez, I'm staggered Levy would agree to that. Also heard €10m bid for Carlos Karmeni of Espanyol. Cya Robbo. tbh I think Kameni is a keeper you could do without. Good shot stopper but not very good at commanding the box, claiming crosses etc and you need someone who can organise a defence. At least he wouldn't get beaten by a long range shot every week like Robinson though. I have seen Kameni catch a ball this season without the desire to walk it over the line for a goal though!

Will Ashley back them as much as Redknapp? I don't think so. It's easier to say no to an employee than to a mate who happens to be an employee.
-
Bigboyyid? Not got any track record of being accurate. Others with a longer track record say nearly but not yet, so I'll wait before celebrating.

I'm now hearing that the meal is at Kemsley Manor and Chris Mort is there too. Anyone able to verify whether Mort is in Newcastle or London?? was at st james earlier dont know about now Cheers for that. It was probably bollocks anyway.

Starting next summer? Because for sure, he won't be starting next week! Terms of his payoff package.
-
No question about it. Bettered only by Pele and perhaps John Charles (of the players I saw live) though Charles was in the Geoff Hurst mould. Greaves was a better finisher than Eusebio imho.

Linky link? Someone close to Kemsley.

Just been said on a Spurs board 'Arry to Newcastle, Jol to Pompey, Defoe almost certainly to Newcastle as well. The source is normally rock solid.
-
Glenn Hoddle anyone? Top quality coach but shouldn't be let loose with the transfer fund. His failure at Spurs was due to the DoF system in place with David Pleat being the DoF. For those wanting Jol, I can only guess they must have missed what's been going on at Spurs for the past year. The way Levy got rid of him was a shambles and a disgrace, but the need for change was undeniable.
-
Exactly. Canny bloke as well, not an utter c*** like Arry. Yep, I'd take Jol over Redknapp any day. As far as I understand it the bad transfer decisions were not Jol's fault. But it was Jol's fault to make good players look bad. It was Jol's fault that 85% of the squad were overweight at the time of his departure, despite having been warned of the declining fitness levels, both verbally and written. It was Jol's fault that he wanted to shut up shop when winning against teams who had the firepower to come back if they were handed the initiative. The Carling Cup semi-final defeat against the Arsenal kids when winning 2-0 and the eventual defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup when winning 3-1 are just 2 of the numerous examples available. Neither tie (imho) would have been lost if he had maintained the courage of his convictions and stayed with the tactics that had worked so well. If you listen to Jol, you quickly work out that all of the good signings were down to him and the bad ones were down to Comolli. "Berbatov is good but doesn't have what it takes to be a success in the Premiership when compared to Kuyt" paints a clearer picture for me.
-
Yeah. Swap him for your manager, would you? For Ramos, no. But if it was still Jol in the hot seat, yes, absolutely.
-
I can't believe the reaction from some here, it's like it was the second coming of Roeder or Souness! FWIW I think in a year's time you'll be thanking your lucky stars you got him.
-
One of the excuses I have heard down here is that their pitch is too small for their preferred style of play. Souness blamed pitches... And didn't Redknapp buy Faye? Bad omens. We're f*****. And sold him for a profit iirc.

Someone(s) of Skunkers. I can't belive this can be true. If it is Ashley clearly hasn't thought through the Sammy Dice sacking and this is him just panicking and phoning his mates with blank cheque books. Dissapointing if true. On the contrary, I reckon this has been the plan all along, just a case of picking the right moment. Personally, assuming it does happen, I think Newcastle could be starting on their most successful spell since Keegan's days........... and Keegan only got close to winning things. With money available I think Redknapp is a winner. Give me an idea what you're basing this on? I'm not arguing I just want to see what you think. Basically, wherever he has managed he has been a success to varying degrees. I exclude Southampton from that because half the board didn't want him because of his Pompey connections. I think there are very few managers about who are shrewder in the transfer market, I think his success is knowing exactly what he wants and having the contacts with the agents who can deliver that type of player irrespective of whether he has seen them play or not. He is also a good man motivator. Defoe says privately Redknapp is the best he's played for, Carrick says he is up there with Fergie. Whether you can agree with those players comments (personally I don't) is academic, it's what the players think and Redknapp's ability to get his players to perform up to and above what could be expected. The last two reasons are interlinked. Redknapp wherever he's been has always had to wheel and deal, usually pretty successfully, but he's never been able to have a real go of competing with the Big 4. With Ashley and Newcastle I can see that changing.. More importantly, being 'in' with Ashley should mean that if he wants to get someone, he'll get the money. It could make Mort's job a lot harder, knowing that Redknapp is thick with the owner. At first glance I can understand why people could be underwhelmed by him, but has he really done anything very much wrong earlier in his career. Apart from agreeing to go to Southampton, I think he's been pretty sound throughout.
