Much like yourselves before you got an ambitious board willing to spend money and finally started getting a whiff of success, you mean? He said "potential". You've got a new chairman and MON the saviour, yet you've still got thousands of empty seats. I don't see the potential support you're referring to. O'Neill has been a disappointment this season, that's not to say he would have been as bad with us though. This season was a write off before it even started in absolutely every respect. I said then we'd finish mid table, and I still think we'll finish mid table now. You can't judge MON on the dross he inherited, judge him after at least a season with his own side. It takes time to make up for years of lack of ambition. Attendances are averaging at around 37k for this season, 7 percent or so up on last season, which is a decent start. From nufc.com following Villa v The Toon this season. Completely agree with Biffa from NUFC.COM.

mackems.gif "Aston Villa huge potential fan base" mackems.gif a club who haven't averaged over 40,000 in half a century. Rangers - mid table Premiership team standard players mackems.gif "PIERCE" - Who? Mary Pierce? "Heskey in the Championship with Bruce", did he move back? Oh to have the knowledge of your average Euro96 band wagon jumper. i'll give you heskey then, can't say I do take much interest in the championship teams. Substitute his name for Andy Cole if you like, point still stands as for your other points, laughable and ludicrous as ever Laughable? The only laughable thing, is that someone with such a piss poor football knowledge spends half his life on this message board. As soon as I see Invicta Toon, I think to myself, this post is going to be a disgrace to all genuine toon fans, because there's no one one this board, who genuinely has no clue about Newcastle and football in general like you.

Much like yourselves before you got an ambitious board willing to spend money and finally started getting a whiff of success, you mean? He said "potential". The thing is you've had success and still couldn't get the numbers. Second in 1990 and 1993, averaging 25,000 and 29,000. Second to us was success, we mid table non-entities and we're still averaging over 50,000, that is a club with a huge potential fanbase. 34,000 when you won the fuckin league, and 26,000 in the season you won the European Cup. Sunderland have more potential than Villa by far. A huge potential fanbase to me is a club who at their peak could average 80,000 fans: i.e Man Utd, Newcastle, Arsenal, Celtic FULL STOP, THERE'S NOBODY ELSE.

yadder yadder budjet yadder yadder wages yadder yadder resources gan support Chelsea man, looks like they're the type of team you lust after you'll get your glory there don't worry about that as for knowing nothing about NUFC, how's that then? point me to an example it's increasingly obvious that you are just a jealous bitter twisted piece of work, who honestly can't see outside the goldfish bowl to the outside world, and get some perspective. At least NE5 has stats to back up his delusions What stats do you want?

Everton are remembered for them two little 12 year old tramps in shellsuits 6 sizes two big for them jumping around the pitch when Hans Segers let the three goals in, thus saving them from relegation. "They won the FA Cup in 1995" blah blah You missed the whole point dickhead, we've had and will probably continue to have a far superior budget for signing players and wages enabling us to buy better quality than them. I'm not going to continue, because I don't debate with with wallupers like you, you honestly have nothing. If there was a poll on here what 3 cunts genuinely know f*** all about NUFC AND FOOTBALL IN GENERAL on N/O, I guarantee now, you would be in most peoples top three. You wouldn't get a bet on it. Your contribution is no better than Snoopy's. Apart from the odd thread moaning about people you work with, and the odd one that you'll post in "Chat", about subjects you've just seen on the news, you're shite.
-
So you go to more games than me? In the last 16 seasons I've had a season ticket in 14 of them, and will have one next season so try again sunshine. Aye and what Everton fan think matters. You really are pathetic. That's my lesson then? Fuck me, that's me told.

What are you on about now ancestry? I have some Scottish/Irish blood too but it doesn't mean I want eat haggis pie washed doon wi Buckfast. "Granted most have your same deluded idea about deserving to be better then Everton for f*** all decent reason, but you son are a class apart" I've explained why we should be better than Everton you idiot, As for me being wierd, coming from some jock from Edinburgh who supports two teams, and is bullied in his call centre job. PMSL "aligning yourself with HTT pretty much illustrates where you stand with respect to level headed opinion as if I'm going to take lessons on football support from a bloke like you. mad" Aligning myself with HTT??! Because I agree with one of his points of view. I disgaree with a lot of HTT's views, but he was spot on regarding the afore-mentioned point. You're not all there mate. Seriously the last sentence, just what?!?! Take lessons on football support?? What the fuck you on about? Lessons on football support? What? At the end of the day I first came on this message board, to have reasoned debates with similarly passionate Newcastle fans. It's sad that this message board is spoilt by wanks like you, because there are a hell of a lot of great posters on here, with fresh new ideas, who I can also talk about the past with. You're a non-entity nothingness, I don't mind out of town toon fans, it's even arrogant me saying "I don't mind them", I don't mean to be, but what I do mind is my club being associated with completely clueless tossers like you, and I'm not arsed if I get banned for saying that, I'll just go to toontastic, where there is only one wank.
-
you could if that was what you said in the first place but you and I know that's not what you said and that's not what you meant you're like a wee bairn who's started losing at a game and is now stamping his feet demanding his ball back Success in footbal is earnt, it's not down to f****** resources, what are you some kind of Chelsea supporting flag waver? support Hibs? I'd rather f****** die, my second team are Hearts, so you will understand how I can see that NUFC have a long way to fall yet before they can feel hard done by by the footballing gods Mate honest, I learned a long time ago you're a mong of epic proportions, so I'm not even going to get embroiled in putting you right. As for second teams For all the good of the Keegan era, there is a significant baggage that came with it. HTT makes a good point about relegation, and how it would get rid of these hangers on, it would definitely be the only positive demotion would bring. Thanks Willow. I know what you're saying about going back to the drawing board, but the fact is to go forward, that is what we have to do.

Ye naa what mate ye a ******** **** yee. Everton are a club who have finished in the top four once in 15 years, they don't sell their little ground out and are "a selling club" (Rooney, Speed, Ferguson in recent years). Of course I know football history you mug, I know we were the most succesful club in this country in the 20th century up to 1960, Everton had a few spells of success in the 60's and 80's, so f***. Am I not allowed to voice an opinion that with our infinitely superior resources we should strive to be f****** better than them. Am not ganna say what a think o yee because I'll get banned again. Fuckin support Hibs. We aren't a bigger club than Everton, though. Resources mean f*** all, its about achievement. Missing the point completely. Obviously the more money you have the more you can spend. The more you spend the better the player, so in theory we should be able to build a far better team. It's like talking to a computer program this.

When I was a kid, I grew up accepting the fact that we were shit. We sold our best players, were delighted to avoid relegation, and replaced stars with mediocrity. From top to bottom we accepted the fact we weren't ever going to get much better, all most of us had ever known was mediocrity and destroyed dreams, so we didn't expect anything. The loser mentality went through the club from top to bottom. I don't blame McFaul or Jack Charlton or Jim Smith for this, they didn't have the tools or the means of making us any better, and why bother anyway when mid table is seen as achievement. We bought players occasionally who were good but never the best, we signed players the top teams would turn their nose up, because in truth it's all we could get. In 1992 Keegan came in, and changed everybodies mindset about who we are, and what we should expect. Keegan indirectly questioned the very expectations of the fans. Why should we feel inferior to anyone? Why have we accepted we're not good enough? Why can't we be like Liverpool? Why don't we at least attempt to buy the best players? These are all questions which in my opinion sum up Kevin Keegan's reign at the club. He gave us the self esteem as supporters, and as a club on the whole, that we hadn't known for generations. Even after Keegan left, we've maintained the self-esteem. How often do you hear the words "Newcastle are a massive club."? What does that mean? It can mean many things, but Keegan's reign at the club made us realise that we should be proud, and we didn't win anything during his time but I think we have fond memories to look back on. We went from being delighted with signing John Robertson and Mick Quinn, to being delighted with signing Ferdinand, Tino and Shearer. Our expectation was now, we can get the best. Freddie Shepherd, continued this mind-set. Yes he has made catastrophic errors, some might say he's well past last chance saloon, he probably is, but he kept the self esteem going. Maybe it's embarrassing listening to him say we're the 8th biggest club in the world, but the fact he even utters this myth shows however ridiculous it is we are a big entity, with big ambitions. The fact we bid for Rooney, and were bold enough to sign Michael Owen, no matter what anybody says, shows the club at the top, have high standards and high expectations, even though work on the defence has been needed for a long time. My worry is now with Glenn Roeder, he is lowering the bar month by month. We've went from being linked with Ronaldinho, to our manager coming out and announcing he is an admirer of Kenny Miller, and sees him as a potential target. Would Keegan or SBR or even Souness employed Antoine Sibierski? Would they have signed a centre half with little or no top class experience from a club who aren't even amongst Belgium's elite? Would Keegan have told someone who has consistently let the club down over a 5 year period, that he still has seven games to win a new contract? Would Keegan have announced on the radio that he's going to set his team out to get a draw away at a small Dutch club? I desperately want Roeder to do well, but the club, without doubt is in free-fall. Five years ago, or even under Dalglish, I never seriously entertained the idea of relegation. "Newcastle United RELEGATED pfffft" We're in a situation now where in my opinion the only reason we're not potential candidates for relegation is because there's so much shit in the league. Since Robson left in 2004, I think without doubt we have been overtaken by Bolton, Tottenham and Everton, I can't even believe I'm typing these words, that clubs such as the above are in a better position in every way than ourselves, but the three of them are. They have players who want to play for the club, they have managers with the personality to make big decisions, and not let their errors (i.e never dropping Parker), stop them from correcting their mistakes. In many ways, our position right now paralells the position of global climate. We've fucked it up quite badly. People at the top have made vital errors which are causing cataclysmic problems, things are getting worse, and they will become almost irreversable if things aren't changed now. We need to get our self-esteem back. It's a cliche, but we have 52,000 fucking people, who have put up with this shite for 3 years, we deserve a manager who at least has a clear vision of how to make us great. Defending 1-0 leads, when it's the worst aspect of our play, is small time. Chasing Kenny Miller is small time. Blaming opposition spoiling tactics as the key reason for home defeats is small time. Even hinting the fans are to blame, is a disgrace. I want to stay as loyal to Roeder as I can, but he's not big enough to do the job, and he's gradually bringing us down to his level. I will never think of Newcastle United as a run of the mill club, like an Everton or Bolton, but that's exactly what we have become, it won't change while Glenn Roeder is manager of Newcastle.

A dee as a 7 year old, faalin on deaf ears on here mate. Little boy Peter was "New" boy Peter though, and cos keegan here is "Keegan is king" Completely faalin on deaf ears on here though mate.

I'm from Wallsend, like, and so I demand access to that elite list of brilliant Geordies - although I did live in North Shields/Tynemouth for a good dozen years. How the ferk are people from North Shields not Geordie, by the way? Are people from Cullercoats/Tynemouth/Whitley not, either? What about Blyth? All mentioned areas - geordie. Other than Blyth cunts.
-
and Gemmill and Alex too.
-
So up to now we've established: Me, Rocker, Tom_NUFC, Northern Monkey, NE5 and HTT are proper geordies....anymore or is that it?
-
Extremely doubtful Nobby. i agree with most stuff with you stevie, but you can't say a team in the lower leagues would have 52,500 and a team in the premier would have 400 fans Nobby but the fact is historically The Toon and Gateshead are in rival counties. They're on the mackem (Durham) side, and we're the geordie (Northumberland side), so if there was no NUFC, I doubt many on this side of the river would've supported Gateshead. The population is too big here for us not to have a team. Even though it's further away from me I'd support Whitley Bay before Gateshead.
-
Extremely doubtful Nobby.
-
I hope Gateshead go bust. 190,000 people in the borough and they're delighted with 400.
-
I'd also say, as a West End lad, a few other Geordies are different type of Geordies to the ones I belong to, which are to paraphrase big Rab C Nesbitt - trash. There are many differences between West End Geordies, and East End Geordies, or Gateshead Geordies, or Gosforth Geordies. IMO anyway. As for Gateshead, it is a s*** hole and I always feel away from home whenever I cross the water or the Tyne if you like, yet feel at home in Wallsend, Byker etc. Gateshead is a s*** hole but so's the West End tbh. I agree, but the people are better and I'm not just saying that because I'm from the West End either. In my experience Gateshead is a lot like sunderland, that type of mentality. The WE is improving mind in parts, still has lots of problems, but there are some nice areas, like Fenham in parts, and the lower end of the WE, the Scotswoods and Elswicks are being done up and the plans look canny, although I wonder if all those people who were dispersed will be allowed back to buy a home in the redeveloped area. I hope so, as the place will look all nice and shiny but lack character and be just another manufactured community full of plastic Geordies You are the most arrogant person i have ever had the 'pleasure' of reading on these forums. Well done, you've managed to slag off gateshead to the high hills. I hope you feel proud of yourself. He's raised a series of good points though.

,Mick what yee naa aboot footbaal isn't worth taakin aboot, yee withoot google = Scott Parker withoot unnecessary twirls.

Every England manager is up there to be shot down, even SBR got horrific abuse, but we were countin in the toon the neet 7 o them players are in the CL qfs. FCUKIN 7. "England are just shite" FUCKIN BOLLOCKS. This idiot is worse than Taylor, at least Taylor stuck to his principles, he hasn't got a clue. The sad thing is we had this conversation before the game about how the game would go, and yet still we were disappointed when it went exactly as we said. How hard is it to give fuckin Gerrard THE LEADING role in midfield, with that fuckin cockney wnka on the bench.
-
"KNEE JERK REACTION" That's what cunts will say about people getting emotional about this, but is it fuck, we could all see this coming, there's not a member of this board including "uSAmBER" who could've done a worse job. If this Brian fuckin Berwick cares about the future of our football and not how much fuckin it would cost to pay the ginger one with the Scottish name off, he would sack the cunt. Why bring fuckin Richards on?!?!??! Why? Seriously. People that don't care about England, or generally don't give a fuck, why would anyone change a defender for a defender, who is doing OK? I hate it fuckin hate it, and this cunt won't be sacked.
