You know what I mean by nothing club, they're there but no one cares. If we weren't in the Premiership we'd be missed, same as Leeds are now, in my view. Portsmouth though, see Fulham, Wigan etc....

The area beside the water is a tiny part, and even then it's scruffy to say it's had millions spent on it around the millennium time. What is the point of that big tower thing? Cost millions that. The centre of the city, well it has no Eldon Square, the best thing it has is a poor mans "Bridges" (Sunderland).

Honestly, it's a f****** shithole. I totally agree with you about old school grounds, but Fratton has to be seen to be believed. The lack of roof means theres no chance of generating any kind of atmosphere from the away end. The first time I went was in our promotion season, it was absolutely s**** then, but now dear me. I went their last season and literally all they've done is put seats on the terrace, and that's it. I'm not one of these that likes being pampered, going to places like Grimsby in the past and the Baseball Ground, Roker, and even Blackburn pre 1993, absolutely piss on anything in the Premiership now, but Fratton Park oh dear. ONE BOG for 3,000 away fans, there is absolutely no chance of creating an atmosphere, as for their atmosphere being great, twice I've been it was pure s****. Some daft c*** ringing a bell and 1500 giddies monotously singing der der der der der der der der Porstmuff, and that's on a good day. Where do these football myths come from?? They're a s*** club they're 5-1 down to Arsenal, it's their first time in the limelight for decades, so a few of them sing a couple of songs and clueless arseholes (clearly of the SKY generation ilk - no offence Brummie, you're in the majority not the minority), now say they're the best fans in the country. Between 1994 and 1999 they didn't average over 9,000. s*** club, s*** city, s*** ground, s*** fuckin fans, nothing club f*** off to the Championship. Don't think about having a night out there, hand on heart it rivals anywhere I've ever been for charvers, anywhere. It's like one big Ashington, but the people are even uglier. Christ, really? I can imagine the one bog is worth avoiding aswell. Well I was staying with me sister in London, so I was on my own at Pompey, it's only 80/90 mins or so on the train from Waterloo, for anyone that's using that route. Anyway the match was shite, so the first thing I wanted was a pint at half time, but it's hardly equipped with four bog rolls let alone beer pumps. The nearest pub was 2 minutes walk up the road, the steward let me out as well after lying for my reasons of needing to pop out and pop back in, but when I got to the pub they'd stopped serving and there were 15 toon fans in there that had been chucked oot, so I got back in to the ground, no beer, fuckin bog was a disgrace, if 30 people out of 3,000 needed a shite at half time there's no way the bog could cope, disgraceful place. Until you've been to places like Fratton Park and Portsmouth itself, you don't know how lucky you are.

this is total s*** btw. Just because I'm not the sort of mong to post 'this' or 'I agree' after people's posts, you come to this GCSE psychology conclusion. I don't care what you think my motives are, if you think I waste my time posting opinions that I don't actually believe you're sadder than you come across tbh I only post if there is something worthwhile saying, i.e. I don't agree with someone. Look up the definition of 'forum' if you have difficulty with this concept. If you want to wade through 20 posts of universal agreement, piss off somewhere else like Toontastic. As for this thread, disagreeing what everyone else says? If you actually bother to read the thread form the beginning, rather than acting like a 12 year old, you will see there is some agreement with me, until the one dimensional mongs like Stevie and HTT waded in with their simpleton interpretations of the post, and you decided to add your weighty opinions (like they weren't already obvious the last 20 times you've pulled this pathetic s***). Also noted PM, who only seems to bother posting at these times nowadays, what the f*** is that about, is he a sockpuppet of yours or something? As a c*** who's been banned enough times, I don't want to see anyone banned. We all have our opinions about people, there's some we like and some we don't. One thing that unifies everyone on this board is the shared understanding of what a boring, dense, clueless c*** this lad is. I'm not advocating banning him, just I think if someone knows where he lives shoot him, pm me and I'll give you £50 if you pm me. I see no point to him living. Any time I come on Newcastle Online, he's on here, the kid is fuckin 24 years of age, by the amount of time he spends on here, I'd say he has no friends and never goes out at the weekend. Maybe murdering him is a bit much, but he spoils the board tbh.... I don't mind anyone having conflicting views to myself, but it's evident this kid doesn't have a clue, and does it for childish, aren't I different reasons. It's really becoming a waste of time posting on threads he posts on, he never does enough to get banned, but is a c*** on everyone. I guarantee if any one of you met him in person, he'd be meek as f***. Tosser.

Sparks take it from me it's true, whether that's good enough for you I don't know, but it is a fact. I tell you something else as well, Gary Pallister once held the title of the world's costliest defender as well. Barton was the most expensive defender on the planet when we signed him, wasn't he? I was 10 when it happened, like, so I could be wrong - but I'm fairly sure it was the case. Without doubt he was. People are querying it because it seems so ridiculous, but trust me it's true.
-
Vic's trying too hard to be the Adrian Durham of this message board.
-
Aye, before Barton I'm pretty sure the English record was Phil Babb.
-
I'm telling you now, he was the most expensive defender in welt fussbal. the italian market was crazy back then, Lentini for £13m, Tagliatelli for not much less. Must've been some heft fees paid out for defenders, desailly, panucci for instance? Johnny Lentini went to Milan in 1992, fees of £8m etc.. were prevalent in 1990 even (Baggio), but I'm honestly telling you now, Warren Barton was the WORLD'S most expensive defender in 1995. Think about the Italian clubs in 88-95. It wasn't often defenders from the big clubs moved. Inter had mainstays like Bergomi, Milan had the likes of Tassotti, Costacurta and Baresi etc.... Roberto Rios was the first huge fee worldwide for a defender.

I wouldn't wipe my arse on wiki, it's geeky googlers like Vic spouting s**** half of it. funnily enough a recent study showed Wikipedia was as reliable as any other off the shelf encyclopedia but then you would have to be able to read and think and not drop your findus crispy pancake at the same time to be aware of news like that Not one comma or full stop. You truly are one of the great minds of our time. some people don't really rate correct punctuation on an informal media such as a forum as a sign of any such thing mind, it is the frequent last refuge of some types of poster... How would you evaluate yourself as a person? Why do you want to know? cI'm interested to know if you consider yourself as a bit of a cock. Or are you in denial? That's all it was.

Sad that Robson tried to bring him here as his assistant, but plumped for Mick Wadsworth in the end. I read somewhere Robson said Jose could be his right hand man for two years, then he'd be given the managers role, Mourinho knowing Robson's love of the game knew that SBR wouldn't just chuck it, so knocked the job back. Newcastle is a big job, you get decent money to spend and the infrastructure is there for us to compete.

You just keep getting better and better, another classic from the internets most clueless c***. wouldn't be surprised if the point of the post eluded your intellectual abilities steve. Don't feel bad if you feel everyone else is ahead of you in the class, you can't help it tbh Oh dear

Stam was the most expensive defender in the world when he signed for Man U in 1998 for £10m (I think). So it could be true. I'm sure Roberto Rios moved to Bilbao for that fee before Stam.
-
If I'm wrong, which I'm not, Oliver looks a bigger cunt than me, because he clearly read my post, more than a co-incidence that stat appeared in the Chronicle the next neet.

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon here because Manchester United have lost today, but last Saturday at 7:04pm, something happened which told me Chelsea were going to win the league. The played s*** against the worst side in the league but scored in the dying seconds. Yes, Man Utd done it at Liverpool, but since Terry came back they look much more solid, even Sheva is playing reasonably well. You hear the phrase mental toughness often in football, Man Utd have it, but Chelsea have it in abundance, I think they'll win the league again, in fact I think they'll do the quadruple. The key game for Chelsea to win the league in my opinion, isn't at SB against Man Utd, I think they'll win that, I think it's at St James', it's the sort of game which we usually get points, if they win that they're champions in my view, especially given the fact Man Utd have to go to City, and they play like they're on wizz whenever they meet at COMS. ps I implore everyone to read Invicta Toon's assessment of Jose Mourinho. Whenever you're feeling down just remember things might be bad, but at the end of the day you're not "Vic".

I don't really hate the s*** players from the Dillon era and before Stevie, they couldn't help being s***. I thought Dillon actually tried quite hard for a mackem playing for Newcastle, his frustration at not scoring despite a lot of near misses got to him in the end, he was quite unlucky. What I really hate is the players who don't play for the shirt, and most of those are the foreigners in the last decade as their input to the premiership has grown. Arsprilla was the first one. Apart from the Barcelona game, you can count the good games he had on one hand, I got sick and tired of watching him amble around doing his own thing, especially when he played alongside Tomasson, a young lad who needed a bit of help and guidance from his partner, a senior professional. I hate attitudes like this. I also hated the attitude that Jinky Jim Smith had in the 1970's, who was similar, strolled around for 9 games doing nothing, then had a blinder. Players like this are no good to you, and I hated the fact he completely wasted his ability, playing for Newcastle. The foreigners in the last decade who haven't played for the shirt ? They are obvious. Charvet, Maric, Luque, Dumas, Marcelino, Andersson. Some of the lesser ones have been good though ie Acuna for example. I also thought that Bassedas and Cordone tried hard but weren't good enough, also Distin and bernard before they got stroppy with the club were good, and Lua Lua was badly treated by Bobby Robson. Dillon was a disgrace to the shirt, I don't care if we were shit and had low standards, he was finished at Birmingham two or three years before we signed him. I agree he tried hard, I would try hard but I'll never be good enough to play for us. I take your point about Tino, but I don't think he was cutr out for English football, and his moments of magic, are up there with any footballer ever. He did have good games in the league as well, he was brilliant against Sheff Wed that time, opening day of the season. The thing with Tino, he used to play much better in Europe and in the Premiership when he was the talisman. when we played 4 4 1 1 or 4 5 1, he revelled in that role up front on his own.
