I think this is inevitable either way. The squad needs so much that I can't see how we realistically close that gap, especially to our "top 8" ambitions. I don't think we'll be as bad in the coming season now that Carver has gone but we've been so poor in so many transfer windows that teams above us just need to address one or two weak areas and can do so with their new TV money. We need to address of 5 or 6 positions and do so without TV money. Ansolutely. I am absolutely intrigued to hear what Lee Charnley means by the mistakes that he admitted had been made by the club in his letter to the fan forum meeting members, if these mistakes had been made before or were "new" mistakes and how the club are going to avoid making the same mistake again (and again and again)?

I assume your positivity with regards to Dost is based on a belief that the rumour is rubbish then, or do you believe those who have actually seen him plenty of times and don't think he is good enough to all be completely wrong?

I really struggle to see some of the negativity with the guy. It's a bit more of a gamble, but I like the look of the guy myself. Fantastic awareness in the box. It's up to the manager to get us playing so we create the chances for him. I agree about his mobility too. Looks a good athlete, with some quickness. How much have you seen from him apart from a three minute Dennis Wise scouting session? I am yet to see the first person who actually follows German or Dutch football suggest he is good enough for the PL. Luuk de Jong, who has had a similar career, is a better forward imo.

If the Bas Dost rumours are true we can take an awful lot from that, especially on top of our managerial appointment.
