  1. "The pair made up and Williamson played in the 2-0 win over West Ham but there are thought to be Championship clubs interested in his siganture."
  2. It's reassuring to know he is a nice bloke in person. That should ensure he will not last long with these twats in charge.
  3. All about the money fo Dick, as always.
  4. Worth noting that McClaren did get paid 2.5m euros for "resigning" from Twente (2nd stint)...
  5. Unbelievable, I would be interest to hear your take on how McClaren actually won that league with Twente. Was it simply his management genius, did he inherit a great group of players ? Did he just get lucky ? What style of play did they adopt, always negative or positive, attacking or dour ? Equally why did he fail on his second time around ? My brother in law has a FC Twente season ticket. He says that although McClaren came in at just the right time (decent squad, owner willing to spend) his experience and motivation skills were crucial in their winning title bid in 2010. However, he has also said that the football was very result oriented (read boring) with clean sheets the main priority. This was his downfall in his second stint in charge, as results were disappointing and the football on display wasn’t much better.
  6. His career is already ruined man. What other Premier League aiming for top of the table would even consider having him? Not a top club, but he could work for someone like West Ham. West Ham and Sunderland are currently looking and are totally ignoring him. In the past year or so Palace(twice), WBA, Villa, Swansea etc all changed managers without ever considering him. Thats quite telling for all the wonderful reviews we get from Debry fans. Exactly.

  8. Does the appointment itself not give it away like?
  9. Transfer targets turning us down because of McClaren
  10. There's plenty of others. Also bookies' odds. They were amongst the title favourites and underachieved by finishing 8th. Don't see how that is even up for debate.
  11. If he was that great why did he get sacked from a championship club?we are getting him because he failed his objective in the championship,it makes no sense! I don't agree with this at all, I don't think he was sacked because he didn't gain promotion. I think it was more the constant links to us. Seriously baffled as to why at least one person on here said that Derby had the strongest squad in the Championship. They didn't. If we strengthen where we need to then, personally, I think McClaren will surprise a few people. Not just supporters of our club but fans of others too. Can't have been that bad. Looking at predictions for the season just gone most had them quite high up, for example: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/aug/08/championship-club-by-club-preview (1st).
  12. Only reason we are getting him is because he is mates with Graham Carr and because he is cheap and will do as told as he will never get a chance to manage a club of this size. The last five years of his managerial career constitute utter failure. At any self respecting club with a modicum of ambition he wouldn't even be under consideration. I hope this blows up in Ashley & co's faces, because that's exactly what they deserve.
  13. Yes, I agree. Also key is that we now have a manager in tune with Carr. There can therefore be no excuses for not getting players in, and on time, and then having them used properly. The first thing to see is whether recruitment improves drastically, now there should be no more discord behind the scenes. Yeah but It's not even that their friends for me, but that they respect each others work. McClaren will value Carr's ability, and will better appreciate the players being brought in, and will be more involved in tha process, and have discussions with him about how to maximise their performances when they join, rather than keep harping on about Bent and Tomkins like that previous idiot did. Okay the setup hasn't worked so far, but from my viewpoint that was largely down to Pardew's lack of real ability or ingenuity. Carr has been trying to get in the kind of players we want to see, but the manager had no interest in ever trying to play the football we want to see. it was a major disconnect. Didn't he sign Bent for Derby?
  14. You'll do the usual Ronaldo cycle, i.e. I'm not impressed but it's not as bad as you plebs are making out - it's actually great having a proper manager, unlike the last one - he's a god amongst men and far more handsome than I ever realised actually, can't believe you lot thought Carver would be better - OK it's gone a bit s*** but he's not half as s*** as your hero Coloccini - Right, I'm turning up outside his house to have a word.
  15. For starters if true I can't get over the fact that he couldn't interrupt his holiday to finalise formalities and hold a press conference, or even to come back early and start working on a critical transfer window with Carr and Charnley. How badly do we want him man for us to just sit around and wait for another week?
  16. It's just hard for me to understand how you had any semblance of hope about this appointment. Hope yes, expectation no. There is a difference.
  17. Exactly. I didn't want Vieira either, although I admit he would have been more exciting. I wanted a Garde, De Boer, Gourvennec type of appointment. Someone young and ambitious and proven to an extent, ready to make the step up to a bigger league. The sort of appointment the likes of Spurs or Southampton would have done.
  18. Can I continue to give the club pelters but watch the games and hope we win? You can do whatever you want mate. I will probably still watch the games too and hope we win, as I did for the West Ham game despite being entirely fed up with the club. As others have said though, the majority of fans will probably consider McClaren the very least the club could have done to appease them. This appointment will likely not cause the outrage it absolutely deserves, but will not get us anywhere either. Guess who wins again.
  19. What opportunity? I never thought there was even the slightest chance of Ashley turning over a new leaf and that's why I'm not particularly disappointed with the appointment of McClaren. As far as mediocre and uninspiring English managers who should be just good enough to keep us in the league go, he's pretty decent. Well I wasn't exactly confident it would happen, but there is no denying that it was/is an opportunity to do so if he was so inclined. He will never get a better chance in any case. If he doesn't do it now he never will.
