  1. I've heard pretty much the same.Garde wasn't wanted because he wanted to bring his own staff but Charnley wants the current coaching staff to be utilised.

    John Carver

Good article by Douglas. Still fully expect Carver to be the head coach come the start of next season.
  3. Absolutely amazing I will always have fond memories of the Enrique/Jonas left wing. Hope Jonas finds himself a decent club and wish him all the best in the future. Keep strong Jonas
  4. Seems like we've only offered a new contract for the compensation, but I agree with this. Until Ashley splashes the cash (ha) Sammy is a useful squad member, homegrown too.
  5. Been some ups and downs, but on balance he can certainly leave with his head held high.

    Ryan Taylor

Was almost certain he would get a new contract, so
  7. Agreed, he will probably stay at PSV if those are his two options
  8. Fair enough, especially since his role has seemingly changed this winter. I was just on about the current squad and his role in picking it.
  9. Then why have John Carver involved in our pre-summer transfer planning meetings? There's a difference between him being asked and being told at these meetings. Why would they tell the interim head coach anything?
  10. Another thing that has me completely baffled with regards to our transfer policy: the stick Graham Carr has been getting lately for the many duds in our squad. Yes, the club bought Riviere, but we also know that if it wasn't for the usual penny pinching we could have had Aubameyang or Lacazette just before their major breakthroughs which saw them double in value and move out of our reach. He can recommend whoever he wants, if it is up to the likes of Kinnear and Charnley to get the deals done you are in trouble and before you know it we hit the bottom of the list with the more risky, cheaper targets. As a chief scout, he only controls who the club should look at, not who they end up bringing in. Which begs the question, why would he even want to be around this club anymore? At his age, assuming he isn't totally skint, one would assume he would rather spent time on the golf course or watching football for fun than have to deal with the snakes on Barrack Road.

  12. The thing I don't understand (well I do) is that they had Carver, by his own admission, involved in the planning of the summer transfer window. So based on that we are to assume that the new manager may not get final say, but would have some say in whoever comes in and goes out. Having known perfectly well since the turn of the year that the moment to make a long term manager appointment was coming (and they should have known at least six months before then even), it is frankly unforgivable to come out with guff like "taking our time", "evaluating the situation", etc. If the man they wanted (Garde?) wasn't available in January for some reason they should have signed a pre-contract and should have been working behind the scenes on the transfer side of things long before the end of the season. Next season will just be another write-off as it stands, and even if decent money is invested we may yet see more players that the new manager may not want. Unless we do get Carver, which was always seemingly the plan and I wouldn't put it past them at all to stick to that even though it nearly backfired this term and will almost certainly relegate us next season.
  13. One would assume that Graham Carr would be aware of him anyway. As always though, why would such a promising manager in high demand be willing to work under Ashley's ridiculous conditions for the job? We could easily ruin his growing reputation through no fault of his own.
  14. Good on them. It's a shame for us that he's fighting a losing battle up north, as it means one possible reason for selling up is off the radar potentially, but credit to them all the same for standing up to him and getting their way. Our situation is vastly more complicated with him owning the club lock stock and barrel, but we could learn a thing or two from Rangers fans when it comes to opposing Ashley and fighting tooth and nail to force him out of our club.

  16. Hope he geta a move to La Liga. Wasting his career here.

    John Carver

Ryder now referring to him as "the head coach". Its obvious he is going to be the guy in charge moving forward. Too many stories being leaked regarding player backing, Janmaat and now Sissoko. Apparently the Chronicle got a call from the club when they called him the "Interim Head Coach" in one of their articles to say they had to call him the "Head Coach". What?
  18. Nothing I didn't expect. Dick Advocaat chases the money, always does. I'm sure he will have been very handsomely rewarded for keeping them up, and he's probably looking forward to some time off before another short, highly lucrative stint somewhere else at this stage of his career/life.
  19. Seem to remember this as well. Did they manage to interview all 80 on the list then? That must have been a busy Monday morning. Not sure what that has to do with anything? There was a club statement that the search for the new head coach would take a back seat until the end of the season but the prep work meant it could be picked up and progressed from this point onwards. Now they're making it sound like they will have to start all over again. I'm not in the slightest bit surprised by this development btw.
  20. Seem to remember this as well.
