  1. It was kind of left field to go for Vieira in the first place. I can only think he must have a growing reputation inside the game and he thinks enough of his own abilities to believe he can get a good job down the line. Of course, but we are Newcastle United FFS. Wasn't long ago we used to compete at the top end of the table and now a youth coach with no managerial experience to speak off turns us down because he can't work under the constraints of Mike Ashley's model. Yet the fat cunt still thinks he knows best
  2. I've believed for years the model would prevent us from attracting top class managers, but now it even gets scoffed at by completely inexperienced manager hopefuls.
  3. That's the way it should be done tbh. They should be told prior to any announcement in the press. well yeah, if they then intended to go right ahead and announce the manager at a press conference, do you think that's very f***ing likely? I think JC has a right to know before he's dragged in a press conference as the new manager like
  4. How long have Carver & co left on their contracts? Five years isn't it? We are bound to see the McClaren/Carver combo contracted until well into the next decade then..
  5. Didn't he say McLaren hasn't been interviewed yet? Interesting. No... Luke Edwards ‏@LukeEdwardsTele 3h3 hours ago Steve McClaren is on holiday apparently. No plans to return at moment. Hasn't been offered job but is under consideration after talks #nufc
  6. I bet they'll be in demand when they are finally told to f*** off. They won't be.
  7. "John, congratulations, you've got the job...can you pass the phone to Steve? ..Steve, we've given it to John"
  8. The window licker has inferred we haven't contacted McClaren and stand to speak to Carver again.
  9. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that JC was the plan until the Leicester loss, when it finally dawned on Ashley and Charnley that he might relegate the club. I think even now there is a decent chance they might risk it in the end, especially as other potential candidates turn them and their ridiculous terms down.
  10. McClaren arguably failed in his last four jobs, none as big as this one. It could be worse aye, but we should aim a whole lot higher, both for where this club should be and for what Mike Ashley said he wanted for the club as recently as 10 days ago.
  11. Well done to Sky and the Sun for being on the ball? A "club source" no doubt told them.
  12. I can see why Derby County players would respect McClaren's experience and knowledge of the game, what with them being Championship players and him having managed at a higher level, but I don't think the same will apply here at all sadly.
  13. Not when this arsehole is the manager it doesn't. What makes Carr this "super" scout ? because we got a bargain in Cabaye, brought in Sissoko on the cheap before his contract ran down and a few promising youngsters in Haidara and Perez ? There's really not much else of note on his resume, remember the team he's helped to build has finished 16th, 10th and 15th in the last 3 season (under awful management but still there has been an acknowledgment that the squad has simply not been good enough). Is this really better than the scouting they have at clubs like Southampton, Swansea, Crystal Palace or any other club that finished way above us last year. "Jobs for the boys" very rarely if ever works. Carr isn't going anywhere though, so you might as well bring in someone that will work with him, surely?! IMO Carr has done a good job getting players in, and it's a damn shame they haven't been used properly for the most part. I still stand by what I said earlier regarding Carr being an excellent scout for our model. It's not just the good players we brought in, but also the good players he identified early when they were still attainable, such as Aubameyang, Thauvin and Lacazette to name just a few. If anything, they club should have put more trust in him and not be so inflexible in their valuations the squad could have been much stronger, league results much better and they would have made an even bigger killing in the transfer market.
  14. I have defended Carr plenty in the (even recent) past, but I agree his role in this charade is quite contemptible. With his knowledge of European football you would have expected him to be able to pinpoint an up and coming manager that fits the profile, rather than a past it mate of his. Smacks of putting his personal priorities above that off the club, something I was confident he off all people in charge at the club was not interested in.
  15. What are you lot talking about? Don't you know our model allows us to be the best club in the Premier League pound for pound?
  16. I cannot wait to see us splash the cash this summer too. All hail the new enlightened Mike Ashley era.
  17. 9th is right about where NUFC belong innit?
  18. You have to be an even bigger fool to start your career here. Shearer is a demi God around these parts yet it only took 8 games with a downbeat squad spiraling towards the abyss to never be considered a viable candidate again.
