Wow! Excellent research/article. Hope that serves as an eye opener to some of the idiots who still support Pardew.

That article misses the point completely. He's not here despite his best wishes, he's here because it benefits him massively to be here.

Excellent point. Ashley did not buy a debt, he bought players, a stadium, training facilities, a huge brand and a massive, loyal customer base, which was partly financed by debt, as would be the case for most other companies this size.
-
Exactly, what good is it that our yearly losses (which was a problem tbf) have been turned around to yearly profits when it does not benefit anyone but the owner? Also, this turnaround is almost entirely a result of TV revenue growing exponentially, something that the old owner(s) or indeed anyone else could also have achieved.

Who is ignoring it though Ian? If anything, Wise in his defence of Ashley is ignoring, or even downright dismissing the existence of the massive debt we still owe to paint his mate in a better light. Mike Ashley bought the club because Sir John Hall wanted out. He was not forced to buy us, nor was he the only party interested. This suggestion that Ashley has come in and done us a huge favour by taking us over and "wiping out the debt" is simply bollocks on so many levels. I just mean, it is much better to owe this debt to Mike Ashley than to Barclays bank, particularly in the recent financial climate. And also it's no longer growing like it was before. These are positives. I agree that Ashley didn't have to buy us. I don't consider it a 'huge favour' I just think it's an improvement in our financial situation. But it's not Ian. See below the development of our commercial income in Ashley's tenure compared to our rivals. The debt (which stood at around 70M if I remember correctly when Ashley took over) could easily have been swept away just by developing our commercial revenue as per PL average: http://www.themag.co.uk/assets/Commercial.jpg As it is, we still owe the debt, which has nearly doubled, and we have SD plastered all over SJP with absolutely no benefit to the club.

Dennis Wise coming out to defend Mike Ashley http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/revealed-what-mike-ashley-thinks-7887570 Two things about this that really bug me: 1) nobody asked Mike Ashley to buy the club. They can f*** right off with their victimising of themselves. 2) those constant "no debt" jibes. We are still in debt, bigger than ever before. The club pays no interest on it, but this is more than offset by the lack of commercial revenue by plastering SD all over the place with zero compensation. All in all, we have only gone backwards in Ashley's time. Sick of his mates coming out all the time claiming differently, and the media lapping it up without question.

Yeah, missed the clean sheet points by 1 minute. 64 points makes it a pretty solid week still. -
What's stopping him owning both clubs? Nothing, I believe, unless both NUFC and Rangers entered the same UEFA competition.

Shearer can fuck off.

I seriously doubt it. Purely theoretically, if 50k Geordies suddenly disappeared from the stands at SJP for an entire season how many new subscriptions would they get to their services? Is there any reason for you saying this. There are plenty of stadiums with loads of empty seats, do these clubs get less TV revenue?
-
Do you have or know anyone with a couple of hundred million quid? Because without it, we can do nothing that will have a serious impact in relation to Ashley. Don't expect an answer to this because there isn't one. NJM's solution is to persuade 50,000 Newcastle supporters not to turn up en masse. Not turn up but make sure he still gets the money. That'll learn him. Always an excuse when it comes to something that would have short term pain for each and every individual. Keep on going then just like the rest of the sheeple... but don't expect anything to change. Because it wont until he sells up. You think and empty ground with the advertising behind would be good for him? As you pay for your empty seat, would you object to Ashley covering it with a SD advert whilst you're not there? I'm sure he wouldn't mind doing it to entire stands, especially with idiotic fans who will pay for season tickets they don't even use. My old next door neighbor buys it.... so its used but I take your point. If he stops going (which I hope he does) then its a goner. Until then, please get off your high horse, as there are loads on here who have packed theirs in, unconditionally.

If this was these players giving it everything for him we are absolutely fucked..

*Good for you. ** Monumental cringe. Why would a fan want us to lose??? Replace Pardew...... fair enough but that doesn't solve the structural problem of the club which is to sell a player as soon as they have played well for any given length of time. Until Ashley goes we are in a no win situation. Oh my god. Really? Why would a fan want us to lose in the current situation? Really? Have you ever heard of short term pain for long term gain? As for the rest, go here: www.sackpardew.com and have a read. I have read it. I'm saying that given the owner we have it makes no difference. They are a package. One fits the business plan of the other. And on the subject of short term pain for long term gain........ why does no one ever just boycott the games??? OMG we couldn't possibly give up a few Saturdays, what on earth would we do instead? There it is Yes. The obvious solution but you haven't the courage to do it..... so just accept your lot. Newcastle fans have Stockholm syndrome. Complain but never do anything really meaningful for change. I haven't set foot in SJP since Leeds The obvious solution ffs, because a mass boycott is that simple. Please explain how not? Simpler than trying to print thousands of cards, sneak them in and hold them up after x minutes. People managed that, although they fuc*ed up by warning the club. How would you go about motivating 50 thousand people not to attend home games? If they need motivating much with this owner and manager then all hope is lost. I would think a popular movement along the lines of SackPardew.com but advocating staying away. Get the local rags involved to also get the word out.... they will be keen. Encourage the stay aways to meet up at a Gateshead or Blyth game and have some fun again. What's that going to achieve? For a single match most people (season ticket holders) have already paid in advance, but let's just assume you could get 50k fans to not attend home matches for a whole season. That would cost Ashley what, 20 million (compared to the 70m TV revenue and prize money for just being in this league)? This whole idea of a boycott is completely unrealistic not only on the level of people joining in sufficiently and long term enough to make an impact, but also because the balance of power has shifted massively in favour of other revenue streams. 50k people giving the bastards in charge of the club pure hell for 90 minutes (and outside of the ground wherever they can) however, would soon make a much bigger difference. It's absolutely criminal that Ashley has been able to attend matches at SJP in relative peace since what happened 5 years ago and until very recently.
-
I am firmly in the "Ashley is the bigger problem than Pardew" camp, but even then, I don't understand people who criticise others for wanting Pardew out at all. Besides from the fact that it is possible to be critical of both simultaneously, and natural to want to see a better brand of football and results than are currently being served up, it's not like protesting against Pardew or wanting your team to lose for a longer term gain deflects pressure from Ashley. Pardew is Ashley's puppet, by putting pressure on his puppet people are putting pressure on Ashley by proxy. The situation in this season feels very much like the 2009 did, anger is building up and the longer Ashley persists with keeping Pardew in a job, the more the pressure will also build on Ashley, from the fans as well as from the impending relegation. Things are coming to a head, which surely should be applauded by any fan who is fed up with what this club has become in recent times.
