I think Howe rates his own players fairly highly, more so than the average fan who will say the likes of Almiron, Murphy and Krafth are “utter shite” and would deem it a disaster if we had to rely on them in any capacity. Eddie will see opportunity and consider solutions rather than throw a hissy fit imo.

Howe doesn’t make the signings. i’m not overly worried about new incomings. Would love a RW and RCB to come in, but would understand the club don’t want to overpay (70m for Guehi and/or 60m for Madueke would be ridiculous). If there are no good deals to be done for players who would really improve us I can accept the club going with what we’ve got for a big push in January and next summer. There is no need to but for the sake of buying. If we’re not too unfortunate with injuries we have the squad for European football, perhaps even CL at a push. I do believe CL should be our aim, but any deal has to make sense financially and in terms of squad strengthening.

Not IRL, but fully televised Feyenoord games yes, both Eredivisie and CL. -

I said my Feyenoord supporting mate doesn’t rate him (“headless chicken”) and couldn’t believe the fees bandied around for him. Me, I’ve seen enough to think he’ll make it. He has pace, work rate, technical ability and strength and he’s landed at the perfect club to continue his development. Some on here still think he’s just about ready for a Championship team somehow and not better than Almiron and Murphy. He evidently is. edit: if you mean first couple of months of last season, then yes I did say that. And yes, he did develop very quickly and seemingly continues to do so at Brighton. -

How about the 40m Lyon were willing to pay for him, or the 35m Brighton ended up paying for him, whilst we can’t find anyone to offer even half that for the two you mention? Look, Minteh is the real deal and unless he gets seriously injured and can’t recover he’ll be at a bigger club for an eyewatering fee in a few years time. He’ll be the one that got away. Better get used to that notion. -
I don't think anybody suggested the bit in bold..?

Those clubs have PSR headroom to continue to develop their squad though, we don't.

Seems anecdotal that statement. In general people tend to gravitate towards people they've worked well with before, and that is usually considered a positive thing. It's kind of odd that you don't mind this for Howe (Wilson, Kelly, etc.) but suddenly when it's a DoF it becomes a problem. I'd love for Mitchell to use his inside knowledge of Monaco's academy to try and poach their best prospects for example.

Drew their first game at home versus a newly promoted side if you want to play that game. Needed Minteh then -
I expect Kraft, Schar and Burn will all get 1 or 2 year extensions. We simply cannot afford to let serviceable players leave and to have to shell out transfer fees for replacements.
-
He'd have been to Schar what Osula is to Isak and Wilson, i.e. a "project" but one you'd feel comfortable giving game time already in certain games and game situations. I think that would have been exactly the right profile allowing the majority of our budget to go to RW.

Perhaps I don't rate Guehi as highly as you (and others) on here do. I think he's an above average Premier League player, who has had his profile boosted by a decent tournament, but he has significant weaknesses (mainly in the air). Then I see Dean Huijsen at 1m97, two footed, a good technical player who will fill out and become a beast. If I had to guess who will go on to win most titles and go furthest in their career, it would be Huijsen for me all day. Perhaps I am overestimating his potential, but he reminds me a young Virgil van Dijk/Gerard Pique hybrid in that he combines height, athleticism and technical ability, hence why I can easily picture him playing in the first team for a team like Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool or Man City in a few years time.
