Rangers 1 - 1 Newcastle United - pretend you know how it went from page 18

Yep. It's strange people can't take in criticism of the board/owner without reverting to pointing to Pardew as our major problem, conveniently sidestepping the fact that he too has been appointed and given more time by the same incompetent people at the top. i'm sorry like, but in the immediate term he is our major problem, because he's a football manager who is very poor at managing football teams this discussion was sort of restarted by me this morning not to juxtapose how brendan rodgers employers have or have not backed him this summer to make him more successful, it was to highlight how rodgers has gone out with purpose and intent to make sure liverpool have a good season to the best of his abilities pardew seems to have done little more than complain about new signings, ostensibly that ashley employed him and should have sacked him is by the by really 'cause he's still the manager I couldn't disagree more. Ashley could sack Pardew tomorrow and replace him by Kinnear (most likely) or the next unemployed no-mark English manager. The real issue here is Ashley, Pardew is no more than a symptom. A symptom that needs to be combatted, certainly, but that by itself will not cure the disease. A half competent manager should still be able to get this squad competing for a top 7 spot even with the tools he's been given. Ashley made the decision to appoint Pardew, firstly, and then to not send him packing after last season. He holds the power to change things for the better for this club. His influence eclipses that of Pardew. Pardew hasn't convinced, but then he never has at any club. We got what we paid for, and apparently that suits Ashley just fine. -

Thats a good point. I think it's easy to forget too. Look at laudrup kicking off six or seven weeks ago about players, they've since signed 5? Would never happen here. That's why we will never get a top manager under Ashley. It's just the same basic principle as last summer - and pretty much everything to do with the club these days - Ashley thinks he knows better than everyone else involved in football. Last summer we'd just finished 5th; there was no need to invest as we'd obviously be able to repeat it by default. This summer we've just finished 16th; there's no need to invest as we'll obviously be able to do much better by default. He and the odious people he employs to do his dirty work think they will win every gamble they make. Will we be better? Probably, it's hard to imagine us being as bad or worse. Is simply being better than 16th good enough for NUFC? Absolutely not. For me, there's been a big realisation this summer especially that Ashley is happy for us to simply exists, for the club to run itself. There is no ambition to succeed or achieve anything in particular. So in the meantime, we have to hope the players and manager can produce a decent cup run or a some decent results in the league. Pretty f***ing sad really. I think that realisation came last summer tbf. I was sceptical before the KK affair, but anyone who didn't realise what we're dealing with after that train wreck of a summer and ensuing season need their heads checked. If anything, things have slightly improved since then. -

I think Colo threatening to leave in January forced them into buying Yanga-Mbiwa more than anything else.
-
It's a simple yet effective gameplan. I know I won't be looking forward to playing them, especially with a Mbiwa-Colo centre back pairing.
-
Now to find a club that will take him. Nah, who am I kidding?
-
Sounds like OM have done him a proposal to join for free next season..
-
That it was. Great for a couple of games. Quite good for a few. Then utter s**** but a grafter for the rest. His touch is down there with the worst I've seen live in a Sunderland shirt. And I've seen Jeff Whitley and Christian Bassila play for us. So basically, teams worked him out very, very quickly and he had no plan B. Must say I've never seen the fuss about him. Guess he got tagged as an excellent prospect just because he's young. He was quite good in that purple patch spell tbf. Looked the business.

The Official Alan Pardew Excuses Thread

This thread is cringeworthy alright.. -
It seems the massive outrage at the JFK appointment has been made unjustified in the last two pages, shows what one loan signing and one interview where he didnt slag off everyone but his mother can do. Or are the assumption police out in force today, the specific crackdown is anything negative to be said about jfks ability to do his job whereas the batons were out for the past 6 weeks for quite the opposite opinion. I can't keep up. We're for kinnear. We're not for kinnear has never been so apt it seems. Bollocks, cant it just be that his isn't the devil and might not be a total disaster, and not the end of the club as some seem to make out. He's a mouthy c*** who is a puppet for Ashley, he's his drinking buddy, a job for a mate not for merit, he's a loose cannon, he's egotistical, he's a liar, he's inconsiderate, obnoxious, thick as pigshit, a complete joke to the modern day football world...Ian's hopes of him not wrecking the club are bang on, if he doesn't we've lucked out. I was the first to say he spoke really well the other day, I've even hoped he can persuade Ashley to loosen his finances to get players in but lets not forget who appointed him and why, his previous and everything that goes with him when assuming what is going to happen in the future. Any dof is a big change, a one of his calibre and quality justs adds to the possibility of it going tits up. There's no one saying they want him, you would be mad to imo, and he is a embarrassment when he speaks (the other day aside). I'm speaking just for me in this but i dont think he'll be a complete disaster bringing players in, that's all. Not good, just not completely terrible. Apparently he pulled the plug on Douglas for free. I'm personally not sure if it was a good move or not, but a lot seemed to be p*ssed and thought it was daft, a much better cb than willo on a free. If he stays for long enough he'll stop a deal you'd like to see in, and he'll also target s**** you don't want, I'm certain of it. That's before his personality gets in the way of any deals. Just too many things to consider for him not to have a negative impact at some stage. There was also talk that Carr had him way down on his list of prefered targets. While he would be better than Willo as a sub, There would be no point having a player on the kind of wages he would have wanted (that why he's in Russia now) as a fourth choice or so. You just made that up didn't you? No, i'll try to find it but i definitely read it somewhere. I remember reading that on the forum a while back. dunno what the source was though. I think that might be it, and i think it was me who said it. I could have made it up tbf Found it: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,58087.msg4481090.html#msg4481090 An article from footymad board that starts of like this: The section you are referring too: Aye, straight from somebody's arse it is..

Straight out of somebody's arse most likely. I'd say it's pretty well document Carr scouted Douglas for yonks, and we came very close to signing him this summer (and last) on his recommendation, until Kinnear decided to pull the plug on the deal, presumably because he hadn't heard of him.

Flabbergasted we've managed to pull this one off. I fully expected other clubs to show an interest once it became clear QPR were willing to move him on on loan, thereby largely mitigating the risk of the rape case. Excellent player, who should compliment our existing forward options well. Credit to Kinnear for getting this deal done. I didn't think he could do it. Even more surprised it appears we haven't finished our summer business yet. If we keep our best players and manage to add another one or two (another striker and a winger), our combined business over January and this summer will be nothing short of amazing.

Based on the assumption we are signing Gomis and Remy I presume? I love how everybody seems to think these are done deals after some positive tweets yesterday. We never learn..

Read my post in your thread: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,92060.75.html It shows what the problem is. We've reached the point where to buy a foreign player we have to sell a foreign player, and we are almost at a point where we cant replace Williamson or Gosling unless we buy English or promote from the academy. I do see your point, but Haidara is already here (i.e. not a player we are trying to bring is, as you allude to in your post), and as long as out on the pitch he's a better player than Dummett, he will remain in the squad. Also, Dummett was given a new one year deal in June. Not exactly a sign that we consider him a realistic long term prospect for the first team.
