Aye, Bruce did send them as well, so probably a Sunderland thing. When things go sour it's a PR disaster waiting to happen, so needless to say I'm loving it..
  2. I expect to see a lot of Fergie time as Fergie kept reminding the referee to stop his match when the ball was out of play..
  3. The boom and bust cycle of this forum's transfer hopes follows a rather too similar pattern to the mackems' vicious circle of derby success..
  4. He already is a better football player than his brother ever was as far as I am concerned. Shola has bulked up quite a bit and shaken some of that clumsiness that frustrated the hell out of me earlier in his career, but Sammy looks like he can reach a much higher level as long as he develops like he should.
  5. Left for Bruges at midday to meet up with a few of my Geordie mates, enjoyed a pint at the little square behind the Grote Markt before the match and got up to the stadium early to avoid not being able to leave due to not having tickets in the away end, but in the home end. It felt a bit like WW2 having to pass several police checkpoints but we managed by me doing the talking (in Dutch) and my mates keeping quiet. Continued pre match beverages in a pub close to the ground surrounded by Club Brugge fans. Managed to get in the stadium quite easily (long live automatic turnstiles) and politely clapped when Brugge scored as we were surrounded by quite fanatical Bruges fans. In the second half we moved to a quieter area in our stand and could speak and support NUFC a bit more freely. Unfortunately couldn't stay for post match festivities as I had to drive the whole way back home, but from what I've seen I have to hand a big compliment to both the Newcastle fans that were there, as I haven't seen any bother and the locals as well, who made us feel really welcome. Class day all round and happy to have seen Newcastle play live again as it had been too long!
  6. Yep. He was never going to just settle with playing in the Europa League and cups. Seen this argument countless times on here, yet when it came to making the transfer this past summer he sure took his time to make up his mind. Pure speculation as far as I am concerned. If you look at the combined number of games Elliot and Harper have had so far I don't think he wouldn't have got his chance either. Added to constant speculation about bigger clubs eyeing up Krul, I just don't see the sense of letting him go for the sake of 1 or 2 million unless it was 100% his decision, which is not supported by evidence as far as I know. Football is a squad game. Players need competition to keep on their toes, and you need a squad to deal with injuries, suspensions, etc. I don't think having him here in direct competition with Krul for one season to see who's strongest would have done us much harm. I know someone who knows Forster and they told me 3-4 years ago that Forster had said that he wouldn't do what Harper did - he wanted to play every week and if that meant leaving Newcastle he would do so. There was no chance he would stay as back up to Krul especially after Krul signed his new contract. Fair enough if that's the case.

  8. I don't think their fans will really let it spoilt their night; they seem quite pleased at the moment. It was a joke. I know. It wasn't funny.

  10. Macherano not sent off unbelievabley..
  11. We'll take Messi of your hands if you want to seriously shake things up.. Pardew would probably play him at LB. Messi at left back and Ben Arfa at right back. It's a little gung ho, but I like it!

  13. To think we kept KrulHarper over him makes me feel sick. FYP
  14. Fraser Forster's looking excellent in these two encounters. Should have never let him go..
  15. Fair play to Celtic. Looked fantastic.
