  1. which is strage because they're well off the pace in the Eredvisie. Edit: 2-2
  2. At this rate De Jong will have more shots on target in one game vs Man City than Sunderland have had all season..
  3. Pardew is a 4-4-2 merchant, whether we like it or not. It's starting to look like Ba and Cisse aren't exactly complimentary as a front two though; they're both very good strikers individually, but especially Ba looks like he's better when paired with a stronger focal point in attack, and maybe the same goes for Cisse, who also looked very strong as a lone striker in a 4-3-3 last season. Most people on here were opposed to our move for Carroll, but right now I'd say he's the missing piece in our striker puzzle with Pardew's preferred style of play, as both Ba and Cisse could probably flourish with him holding it up and doing the physical battle with the defenders leaving space for them to exploit. For what it's worth I would love us to go a more continental 4-3-3 style with slick passing football and early pressure all over the pitch, but I just don't think Pardew is the right man to implement it. Whilst it worked a treat last season for a while when we were on top form, the few times we've deployed it this season have demonstrated that it's isn't exactly a risk-free tactic. In fact, the games we've started 4-3-3 in the Premiership (mainly Everton away and yesterday v Liverpool) have seen us under the cosh from the starting whistle with players seemingly uncomfortable and conceeding the majority of possession as a result. 4-3-3 may well be the way forward, but it requires a lot of training to get it right, so in a way I understand why Pardew is being pragmatic with our busy schedule currently and going with what's a bit more familiar and stable. The quality of our attackers meaning they will normally take their chances more often than not is getting us by at the moment in terms of results. Long term though, you'd expect Pardew to be working towards a footballing philosophy rather than integrating whatever bargain Mike buys him regardless of the team's needs into a team designed to control rather than attack.
  4. I really wouldn't. He's a player with undeniable quality, but he's not good enough to counter what a despicable, racist, cheating c*** he is. He's suited to that piece of s*** club. I've had to endure this cunt being a part of the team I dislike the most in Holland too. He is undeniable quality, but for me he gets far too much protection from the referees. Deserves to be sent off or retrospectively banned in most matches he plays, be it for diving or serious foul play on opposition players. The way he went down on that Colo challenge basically made up the referee's mind, whereas Simpson didn't even flinch at that hack by Sterling. Cheaters get away with it more often than not, and he's the worst of the lot. Despicable human being.
  5. He should be be in a midfield 3 with Tiote and Cabaye. Never a full back.
  6. Aye, Saylor/Willo and no back up..
  7. Aye, if the decision was debatable don't expect them to be willing to debate. Only if it's clear as day the referee made a blunder they might consider overturning the decision. Not a cat's chance in hell they'd do it here. Coming back to my earlier point about consistency, I would like them to actively, consistently and fairly (i.e. not only based on biased media outcry) investigate incidents that the referees may have missed or misinterpreted in a split second and dish out bans retrospectively based on the same rules as they judge the above refereeing decisions (i.e. if you would stand by your referee if a yellow/red was given, give it retrospectively). Can't ever see it happening though, but for the good of the professional game it needs to be done, as there is far too much cheating going on.
  8. As with the Tiote sending off, it's another case of you can't really complain when it's given even though it's a 50/50 decision for the ref. What really grates though is these kind of fouls happen in most if not all matches and normally get punished with a yellow and hardly warrant a replay. Hell, sometimes players even get away with it (like Tiote v Man U, Suarez v Everton and Sterling twice today) and in these cases 99 times out of 100 there is no retrospective punishment from the FA. Whilst I can accept the decision(s) in itself and respect the difficult job referees do, it's the inconsistency in decision making from the authorities in general that is hard to take.
  9. FT. Decent result, awful in terms of personnel lost. I thought we were well worth a draw on the day though..
