Norwich City vs Newcastle United - 12/01/13 @ 3pm (not on TV)
Unbelievable replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
You should have been sat in the Amex last weekend watching him if you think he's on better form that those 3. I only saw parts of the first half of that match, in which he played on the right side at times. I'll take your word he wasn't very good, but from what I've read on here nobody was. He was good vs Man U and Arsenal though, so on that basis I'd start him before the others at this point in time. -
Why wouldn't CL Teams look at him though? If he's as good as his reputation indicates? Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon that we've got him, I'd have just thought that there may have been more competition. Wait, so in one thread you are expressing your disbelief at getting a good French national team player relatively early in the window without much competition and in another you are expressing your dissatisfaction at not getting another? Have you considered that in Remy's case the selling club and player may be waiting to see if better options come their way, just as you apparently expected Debuchy to do? Don't really have the time to go into too much detail right now but I'm not expressing my disbelief at all, it's more a passing comment. My thoughts on Remy are that the Board should have had the deal tied up earlier to give us as much chance of picking up maximum points over the next few games. Also, Remy is a big fee (if the rumoured £10m+ is true) and not in great from hence a risk for any club. Debuchy is a low fee and has played consistently well for years. Which makes it even more understandable from our point of view that we haven't just gone in and bid whatever Marseille quoted without a second thought.

Reading the Norwich match thread and the last pages of this one it seems most of us have all but given up on Jonas. There's no denying he hasn't been at his best for us for some time, but he's only 29 and whilst it seems his blistering pace has gone he has been a more than useful player since he signed for us. Anyway, just wanted to point out that maybe he's just having a spell of bad form, not unlike some other major players (notably Tiote and Colo) are having this season? I for one hope we haven't seen the last of the combative if technically limited Jonas who works tirelessly to protect the defense and relieves pressure with his runs with the ball and good protection of the ball drawing fouls.

6 million for those two a bargain

On current form I'd have Obertan on the left of a front 3 ahead of Jonas, Sammy and Ferguson. -

Everton away? -
Aye, believe it or not i'd take getting no players in as a trade off Anyway.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9788987/Thomas-Inces-return-from-Blackpool-to-Liverpool-hits-deadlock-as-clubs-fail-to-agree-over-price.html From that article: Didn't Sigurdsson just turn them down for Spurs?
-
Can't really judge what they did without knowing the details of the negotiation really. His agent hasn't exactly covered himself in glory in the Moses to Chelsea deal either, and it's not like football agents are saints by any description.
-
Can't play out wide though by all accounts. Also African and only had one good spell in his career..
-
That North Korean bloke? How did he get on in Germany? (didn't even know he went there )
-
It's tough to point it out as a failure on our part given the players we later signed (HBA, Ba, Cisse), but signing Moses in January 2010, when Wigan were the only Premiersip side interested, for 2-3 million would have been fantastic business. I've watched him many times since the change in nationality and he's a genuine star. We are a big enough team that he might have stayed as well. He has been horrendous in France and has high wages, but I wanted NUFC to sign Kalou in the summer for that exact role. Turned us down did he not? <- Moses I mean Agree on Kalou btw.
-
Wiki (I know) has it down as 4.5 raising to 6.5. He may not have set the world alight, but he brings raw pace and decent finishing to the table. Hardly a winger however.
-
Aye, his name crossed my mind too when I read Beren's post. 5 million was it?
-
He's tearing up the Prem for Tottenham on my FM save, so he must be good..
-
I think it was nearer £4.5m for Ba... Apparently we got the lot and Chelsea paid him the £2.5m. Reported by just the one source. Seems very unlikely considering this was apparently one of the terms in his contract with us, so why would Chelsea have to pay his cut. It is howver extremely likely they had to pay his agents a shitload of money on top of what we paid Ba/them.
-
Won't be cheap unfortunately. Seems like that new deal was just to bump the price up with an understanding he would be free to go if the right offer came in. Wouldn't surprise me if he has negotiated a cut of the transfer fee too.
-
He's out of contract in the summer. And? We've upgraded a first team player, before he actually left. That's a rare occurrence. Embrace it. It's certainly a more pleasant approach to transfers than selling a first team player and not replacing them until at least another transfer window has gone by as far as I am concerned, but hey ho..
-
And we haven't sold anyone else yet, which is always a bonus. I think the point TT is trying to make is that whilst we have until the end of the month to try and complete this move, by then three very winnable games will have been played. Which is a big deal. If you want a striker to help you win matches, it helps if they're available for the matches. That's a fair point. On the other hand we all know how Ashley & Co conduct their business, which strangely didn't stop a large number of posters on here feeling ambivalent or even optimistic about our top scorer leaving for a pittance.

I don't mind people posting rumours of dodgy sources* as long as there is something new we didn't know already from more reliable sources in the article tbh. * Not tw@tter mind, that shit rightly deserves its own thread for the braindead.
-
Look i was just putting it up for people to have a look. You dont have to read it. How do I know what it is until I've read it? Look, I'm sure I could find another 1.000 articles on shitty transfer rumour sites that say we are interested and may put a bid in, going off what the mainstream media have been reporting (RMC, Equipe). Don't see what the point is of posting them all in here though..

Another source for what? For what has been said by countless other, more trustworthy sources already?
