Good finish that from Walters
-
Walters starts the match off by hitting the ball into his own face..

These sort of quotes really worry me. Loads of us could see what a tidy player Marveuax was from a few minutes last season. To be fair just about every quote about or from Pardew seems to worry you.. I don't think his handling of Marveaux has been so bad, giving him plenty of time to get back to match fitness after a number of serious injuries. We were all frustrated when he seemed to do the same with Hatem last season, yet was complimented later by the player for his handling of the affair.
-
Which wouldn't be so bad obviously. The problem is there is no way we would get two, so if/when Taylor is injured again it's back to square one except this time with a defender trying to find his feed in the team/league in place of Colo. Very worrying indeed.
-
Aye, as if any of those wouldn't laugh us in the face and tell us to build a squad rather than hold our hand up..
-
Alex Ferguson? Seriously James?
-
Is he? Course not, this is Stifler we're talking about..
-
Well, if he really doesn't want to be here we may not literally have "no choice", but that's certainly what it boils down to in practical terms..
-
Mark Douglas @MsiDouglas #nufc face a major battle to hang onto captain. One source suggesting they have little choice but let him go. Now who blinks first?
-
Not many of our players are playing to their ability though, which is partly but not completely down to Pardew/tactics
-
I'm not. While I think Colo is bang out of order in asking for a move after penning a new deal, it's hardly a surprise players are getting disillusioned with our haphazard playing style and results. Ben Arfa will be next unless things change sooner rather than later. It's like the players themselves have no influence whatsoever on the playing style, performances and results... The players need to pull their socks up and start playing to their ability. Instead, our esteemed captain decides now would be a good time to declare he wants to leave.

Completely different type of player. I would have said Colo to us right now is worth at a minimum the 10 million we paid to get him in the first place. Even that wouldn't be enough to replace everything he offers, but at least that would give us a chance of replacing like for like, maybe even with a younger player with more resale value down the line since that is what Ashley & Co like. Can't thank of anybody who fits that mould and would come here though, so we'd be royally f***ed. not sure San Lorenzo could give us any fee at all for him Hence why we should nipped this in the butt when they first started ti unsettle the player. Colo's behaviour in all of this, and especially his deafening silence, is no better than anything Ba has done in recent weeks to get his move to a bigger club.
-
Just thinking, what will Santon make of all this, as he's apparently quite close to Colo and attracting interest from his home country..? Sigh.

Absofuckinglutely. If he has any respect for the club and the fans he can't afford to just stay schtum over this shitstorm..
-
So much agenda driven drivel. Colo has to come out now and put this to bed, he HAS to.
-
We need Colo to come out today and tell us what's what. Can't have this hanging over the club and team with an important match coming up tomorrow in the middle of a crucial transfer window of a season where we're flirting with relegation. You're the club captain for f***'s sake, show some leadership!
-
He left, rejected out contract offer. For a 20k/week deal elsewhere. Worth matching. Didn't Guthrie leave in search for first team football? Shame it hasn't worked out for him so far.
-
What the flying f***? It's not a sense of entitlement or even unrealistic expectations to state that considering how well our recruits are lately, and based on the fact we are doing things on a shoestring budget, that a relatively small outside investment (in footballing terms obviously) such as the one that was promised by Ashley but hasn't been delivered would go a very long way towards us being able to challenge for those top 6 positions structurally. There is a lot to be admired about the way Ashley has gone about bringing the club back on an even financial footing whilst being able to maintain a good first team. Where we are losing the battle is by not having enough squad depth, something that doesn't require hundreds of millions to fix. I don't think asking for a positive outlay in transfers like most other Premiership clubs is deluded by any means, if you think so you have well and truly bought into this mentality that we somehow should just be glad to be one of the also rans of the Premiership. Personally, I would want us to aim a little bit higher, but each to their own I guess.
-
Why shouldn't we? During his tenure we are one of, if not the most frugal club around. I'm not advocating Sounness like spending or putting the club at risk, just sensible investment to allow us to compete.
-
I've moved past anger and into acceptance now. It's easy to fall back on 'we are Newcastle, we should be challenging' for everything, but even if you agree with that you can't just leap from where we are now to that ideal situation. I disagree, being said divvy. As I've argued in that earlier post, our current transfer policy coupled with that promised extra 20 million a year by Ashley would see us having a much better squad depth and challenging for CL qualification. The frustrating bit is we are so close yet so far away from this scenario due to Ashley's frugality and lack of ambition. We only got as close as we did last year because of his ambition in the first place. The moment he stops trying to improve the team I will agree with you but that is very obviously not happening We could concentrate fully on the Premiership what with not being in Europe and out of the cups early on and were also helped by not having as many injuries as this season tbf. We are slowly but surely improving the team, and for that I am grateful, but things could be so much better if Ashley was willing to invest. As things stand last season was a one off and achieved largely despite Ashley, not thanks to him.
-
We can build and develop all we want, as long as Ashley is not willing to invest like the competition for those CL places do we don't stand a chance of breaking that barrier.
