  1. I'm not convinced by any of that tbh, certainly not taking a points hit, that would've totally knackered our season last year. We've traded reasonably well with what we've got to trade imo; the fees recouped for Kelly, Longstaff and even Miggy have been very good considering their status in our squad, and I was entirely in favour of the (relatively) huge Minteh sale. It looks like there are commercial opportunities being passed-up for reasons I can't fathom, but nothing should take us away from the fact that there's a set of rules in place that are incredibly effective at benefiting the interests of cartel clubs. I find it a shame that people go straight in on the club when there's this blatant unfairness having the greatest impact of all.
  2. Are you on about selling academy players? That'll be the decade of prior neglect keeping us from joining in with that party (if you discount Anderson, Longstaff and Minteh).
  3. I'm finding it really galling continuously reading stuff like this when there is one issue alone - that being the rules. We've done everything we can to surround him with the best quality we can find but been prevented from doing so because the cartel clubs have total control of the market. Despite this we've signed a quality right-winger to add to the armory of assist-providers for Isak. If he wants to leave it's because the rules prevent us from giving him the wages he is due for being, arguably, the best striker in the world. We're not a well-oiled machine at the director/executive level, clearly, but you're just dancing around the issue if you're not squaring every ounce of angst at the bullshit rules which are designed to keep the top at the top.
  4. Not much sugar-coating this, like. I'll be gutted if he leaves, heartbroken if it's to Liverpool. Serious 'fun while it lasted' vibes with this. He's our golden ticket to scaling the barriers between us and Liverpool, Arsenal etc. We're not a one-man team but I struggle to see us sustaining a regular CL push without him.

We've made it abundantly clear that PSR has us over a barrel and we have to be incredibly careful and certain about how we spend our money. If Howe and everyone else involved in recruitment think Wissa represents value at £40m then I back them totally. There's no one else out there who scored 19 PL goals last season who's available at that price, unless we fancy another go with Chris Wood.

I don't think it's a particularly unfair price for a player with a track record of scoring goals in the PL but you'd imagine we'd hoped we could get a cut price deal. Hopefully the player helps this on its way. If it doesn't happen then hopefully we move quickly for targets on the continent. Can't see who else we target in the PL strikers-wise that wouldn't just result in a cartel gazumping.

Thanks for that fresh info from Twitter
  8. Authentic. Can't get over how utterly stupid the collars are on these Adidas shirts.
  9. I still quite like it but the badge and patch ruin it
  10. This. Fuck him and especially fuck Chelsea.
  11. And he was very average, cheap and added next to nothing. Even if we only get Elanga, it's far exceeded that miserable summer.
  12. Agree but I'd attribute it more to the literally never-ending access to information, causing frustration when there's no information. I doubt we'd lose our marbles quite so frequently if all we had was Ceefax or newspapers. Plus the anxiety caused by last summer's failure and an apparent (but irrational, imo) sense that we're not actually capable of making signings.
  13. Basically guaranteed that she can’t open her body and hit it to the right I think, making it pretty predictable. It somehow enables her to hit it arousingly hard, though. The one against Nigeria at the World Cup was 70mph.
  14. Go on Kelly you fucking ledge
  15. Bah what a goal that would've been

It's probably all about the pathway if you're signing for Brentford. On the other hand, there's all the evidence you need that - if you do well there - you get a move to a club that actually wants to compete.

And manager. They won't give a fuck. Their model is working to perfection and they probably won't go down because of the standard of the promoted teams. (Sadly)

I suppose the gamble financially is that the investment is repaid in increased revenues achieved by having a quality squad, as opposed to a future transfer fee. Like Trippier etc.

can only assume you haven't been paying attention to what's been happening this transfer window.

How is signing someone in their prime, with nearly 50 PL goals, loads of experience and an impeccable injury record a 'sticking plaster'? On paper it's an amazing upgrade on Wilson and seemingly at a good price, if it happens. We need players who are ready instantly.

Let's see how it plays out. I prefer to assume that the people tabling these offers aren't literally braindead and there's a reason for it.
