  1. OK then, N'Zogbia's played there. But was gash and a genuine left-back is a better option. Probably even Carr, whose done alright lately. Agree with the sentiment about Dyer, but starting Carroll is nothing but a risk, and this isn't the game to start him in. This is an absolutely key game and we need our best players playing. Duff has improved - he played well against Sheffield United and Arsenal. Pointless dropping him - especially for Luque. Luque who has been absolutely shite in every single game he has played for us - he's a joke and it's a waste of a position to 'give him his chance'. He's gonna leave anyway.
  2. Nonsencial to not put our best team out and make risks like that - when you consider if we win this game, we're potentially two points away from European qualification. Dyer is better than Carroll, obviously, but has been awful of late - that's the only 'risk' selection-wise. I'd rather play N'Zogbia at left-back than Carr or Babayaro, Edgar showed more potential in a couple of games than Onyewu ever has here, and Luque will certainly do no worse than Duff. Edgar i'll give you - he's definitely looked assuring at centre-back and i'd like to see him there more. N'Zogbia has not once played left-back in his Newcastle career. If he's too lightweight to play in the centre of midfield, i don't see how he is going to be much better as a defender. It's a huge risk, like i say, because he's never played there before and we don't know what he'll be like. You can say what you like - if you think he'll be better there, that's fine, that's your opinion - but we just don't know; and it's not the time to find out. Carroll's never started a game for us and has spent his career in the academy, plus a few games in the reserves. And he's away from home. While Dyer, although in consistent, is one of those players that if you've got him in the team - you KNOW you have a chance of winning the game. And Duff? I haven't liked him this season, but his last couple of games, he's been good. He faltered in the second half against Arsenal but it wasn't his fault he wasn't taken off. What's the point in dropping him just as he is beginning to perform, just as he is beginning to show his former form as a matchwinner? And for Luque? Bloody hell. I think we'll agree to disagree, mate.
  3. I think Roeder said that Dyer would be available for the game...
  4. Erm... i think he was on the bench against Arsenal? Not sure.
  5. I wanted Houllier at the start of the season. He'd come first, his managerial record in this league is excellent - what he did and what he won with Liverpool was superb. BUT, and like Hiddink, there's not a cat in hell's chance that they'd come here. Allardyce.

  7. I don't think Carr has played badly, but why he is being preferred to left-back over an actual left-back - who isn't really that bad - i just don't know. We lack so much down that left hand side simply because of Carr's lack of pace and general ability. He can be a pretty crap player, but generally puts in steady performances, however - i just don't see why he has been cemented as one of the untouchables. Stephen Carr an untouchable at Newcastle United. It's insane, and it's the kind of mediocrity that we've come to expect Roeder to settle for. Harper Solano --- Taylor --- Onyewu --- Babayaro Milner --- Butt --- Emre --- Duff Martins --- Dyer Subs: Srnicek, Moore, N'Zogbia, Pattison, Sibierski
  8. If we were to give Carroll a start, something i'd really like to see us do, then i'd do it at home to Blackburn. He'd be at St James', therefore much more comfortable, and it would give him the chance to get into the game and show us what he can do - as Blackburn hardly have the most meanest of defences. However, surprisingly enough, there is still Europe to play for - and you know that is in Roeder's mind. I can't imagine we'll see Carroll again this season, unless it is a ten minute appearance from the bench. Which - at this stage in the guys career - does nothing for him or for us.

    Eriksson For Toon

I'd definitely take Sven. There's no denying that his managerial record at club level is superb.
  10. Would sooner like to see Carroll given a start that Shola this season, tbh. Would definitely like to see Ameobi come back, before the season's out, without a doubt - but i think it'd be great if we had the chance to give Carroll a start at St James'.
  11. Weird theory but i've noticed this. Is someone's got a high squad number, like 'Ramage 42' or 'Huntington 32', they'll always move down two units. Like Ramage went into the 20s, if you know what i mean. I doubt Huntington and Edgar will change. One, because there's not really worthy of pinching a vacancy in the teens, and two, they're off out on loan.
  12. He was s****. in one game? your point being? And Krul was fucking class in one game. If he's the first choice, Krul must be in with a shout of pipping him to that spot sooner or later!
  13. Blatantly fancies Shearer tbh.
  14. By the way, thought it was dead funny watching Martins buldoze his way through Lehmann, three protesting Arsenal defenders, the referee and Steven Taylor during that fracas towards the end.
  15. Aye - i thought it might be something to do with the Cricket World Cup... it was the highlights show that was after MOTD after all.
  16. Shots of the alien invasion tbh. Martians have control of our television broadcasts.
  17. Aye it worried me a tad n'all.
  18. Midway through one of the interviews, MOTD went off unscheduled - and a piece of tape, filmed through a cockpit as a plane was coming into land, was broadcast for about 10 seconds. Odd.
  19. Aye, was weird was that. Flicked through the other BBC Channels and it wasn't there, or anything like that. Bizarre to say the least.

  21. I've been saying we'd finish 9th since about January time. Standing by the for now!
