Toon give Scandinavians a chance Jan 18 2009 by Neil Farrington, Sunday Sun JOE KINNEAR has revealed he will run the rule over three more Scandinavian trialists alongside Peter Lovenkrands in a behind-closed-doors friendly match on Tuesday. But the trio of Norway and Sweden Under-21 internationals — recommended to Kinnear by veteran Norwegian agent Rune Hauge — are seen as potential long-term investments, rather than players to be pitched into Newcastle’s relegation battle. Danish winger Lovenkrands, who trained with the Magpies all last week, hopes to win a permanent deal at St James’s Park by impressing on Tuesday. But he will not be the only one out to impress. “Three youngsters will play,” said Kinnear. “All three of them are Under-21 internationals. Two play for Norway and one for Sweden. “One is a centre-back, one is a left-back and the other is a midfielder. “We will take a look at them. But I am not thinking about them for the first team.”

probably the same info as everyone else via google.....22 year old central defender, plays for Lille, called up to the French national team in March 08. Never seen the lad play.......but given the knowledge of all the supposed regular Ligue 1 watchers on here who are experts about Mbia, Gomis etc that shouldn`t be a problem

What, so the money we've been told is available has once again vanished? wasn`t that last weeks NOTW story? Anyways, also linked with ex Liverpool player Florent Sinama Pongolle in The People today. Bolton and Wigan after Barton http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_headline=hotline-bid-fine-tooned%26method=full%26objectid=21050824%26siteid=93463-name_page.html

SK Brann winger Erik Huseklepp has denied reports linking him with a move to Newcastle. The St James' Park outfit are seeking reinforcements as they bid to beat the Premier League drop. But the 24-year-old Norwegian footballer denies any knowledge of being one of Joe Kinnear's potential recruits. "I haven't heard anything about Newcastle being interested," he told VG. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_4806040,00.html

About £13.25m, assuming there were no clauses with his previous club. Wonder what this means about the Appiah deal? I`d have him here on a short term deal

might play against us if it goes through! Mark Hughes is so confident of signing Kaka that he has already drawn up a new 4-1-4-1 system to accommodate the former world footballer of the year in his proposed debut against Newcastle on 28 January. (Guardian)

This is just ridicilous, that sum of money for one player is just dumb. I mean they could spend it much more wisely by getting somebody like Diego and then go out and get 4 quality players to fix their defensive problems. This isn't a wow statement, this is just plain stupidity

Caio Vinícius Ferreira signs three-year deal (apparently not)
LooneyToonArmy replied to joeyt's topic in Football
didn`t com say have him down initially as a 13 year old? I assumed they just googled his name and found the 1st link to a completely different player (Benfica) -
I visit Portugal several times a year and after speaking to some Portuguese friends I think Meireles would be a great signing as we need a playmaker type. He is also very good at taking dead ball pieces. The only worry might be that the EPL might be too robust for him as he is quite small about 5'6" but better than anything we currently have According to Wikipedia he`s 1.79 m (5 ft 10+1⁄2 in) which is quite a difference......of course Wiki aint gospel. From what I saw of him on tv he doesn`t look like a short arse
