  1. Dean Ashton and James Beattie
  2. and if that did happen (ok, unlikely), would you still have him as no 1 after all of this?
  3. You'd hope so but I doubt it. Onouha would be ideal now that the Ebondo deal has fell through....not sure which position Taylor has been signed for but he can cover different areas
  4. They valued Heskey at £10m, how much did they sell him for again? was heskey out of contract in the summer ? yes
  5. Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta is being pursued by relegation rivals Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur according to Sport.co.uk sources. The highly rated left winger has been with the West London club for over a year having joined fron French club Lens. In his first year the tricky wideman was voted the Chelsea Academy's Scholar of the Year by staff and peers. The 17-year-old French U-17 international has also been tipped by Chelsea favourite Frank Lampard as one to watch for the future along with academy team mate Miroslav Stoch: He said: "I think Kakuta stands out for his ability. His natural talent for someone who is just 16 (current age is 17) is amazing and Stoch is also impressive. "Playing on the big occasions at the big stadiums is what it?'s all about and this will give them a taste. They just have to make sure they don't freeze, and I have every confidence in them." Tottenham are desperate for a left sided option after having a series of offers for Stewart Downing rejected, and Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear is weighing up left footed options with Charles N'Zogbia's exit likely after Kinnear reffered to the frenchman as “Insomnia” in an interview after the defeat to Manchester City. Chelsea would only allow Kakuta to leave on a short term loan deal.
  6. Gelson Fernandes too. Would be worth at least trying to get some on a loan as part of the Given deal
  7. Given 'hands in transfer request' Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has submitted a transfer request in the hope of speeding up a move to Manchester City, BBC Sport understands. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7860365.stm
  8. If they actually bought M'Bia, Donadel or Veloso it would answer that question. or those Argentinian/Italian midfielders that were supposed to fly over on trial... and then never heard from again
  9. would be fairly happy with this signing depending on the fee (especially 800k if true). Decent squad player and can fill in a few positions and can actually take a decent set piece
  10. pretty mixed reaction from the fans on the Bolton forum.......seems he`s been well off form for the last 2 seasons from what I`ve read and has been given loads of stick sometimes justifiably. Maybe a move would revitalise his career. Here`s a few of the reactions http://www.the-wanderer.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?t=17397&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ------ about time we moved on I think. He has lost his way in the last couple of seasons, no longer scores enough, does not assist, cant tackle and fails to complete any covincing passes. Fails to add anything to the team. It's like this. Nolan was a passenger yesterday. In fact he has been a passenger for too many games. If the deal is right I think we can find better. The guys got a turning circle of an articulated lorry, sits on his heels, can't jump or tackle and struggles passing. If we make a few million quid for him, I won't be too sorry to see him go. --- i feel unhappy about this. we face a relegation struggle. and we've just sold our captain and a player equipped with the commitment that's going to be necessary. to a relegation rival. If this happens, I would be sad to see him go as he is class.. certainly ahead of what we currently have. I would not blame him for leaving as I know what it is to give your heart and soul for your team, only to face abuse. It was intersting to hear people saying Basham was Man of the Match vs Man U when if Nolan had put in a performance like that, he would have been abused for contributing little to the team. I can't say too much right now because anything I say will be hugely coloured by emotion. I am absolutely gutted at this. If Megson HONESTLY thinks the team is better off without Nolan, it just goes to prove that he really is on a mission to remove any kind of quality we ever had and replace them with cloggers. I never thought I'd be one of "those guys" but right now, with this deal looking like reality, I can't help but feel utterly resentful towards the club for letting this happen.
  11. Chronicle today : “I still think Ebondo will come. “I was supposed to have it done four days ago. “Hopefully he will come and join us. “Ebondo was due to come in on Wednesday night from France. “But we’re still tied up in negotiations. “The original price was £2.5m but they moved the goalposts and it’s now £3m. “We are still out in France negotiating. “It’s been two weeks now, so we have to wait and see.”
  12. Ricky ready for cop ruck RICKY SBRAGIA is taking on the cops before taking on Newcastle in Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby. The Black Cats chief reckons last season’s St James’ Park defeat was partly down to the police advising they arrived early to avoid fan trouble. Sbragia has now approached Northumbria police, demanding a later arrival time this season. He said: “Last year, we were in the dressing room for 2½ hours, which was ridiculous. “Players were sitting around, gazing at each other, reading programmes, walking in and out, trying to look busy. I could smell it wasn’t right. “This time, we’ll do what’s right for the club.”

  14. yep this is what i heard too. Loads of potential but not living up to it
  15. Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has dismissed an offer from Newcastle to take captain Stephen McManus on loan. (Daily Record)
  16. I take it you mean Gelson Fernandes......would be happy with that plus Onuhora and Johnson possibly and cash would be nice too. Gelson is apparently interesting Celtic on loan so a loan deal might an option too
  17. I remember I and a few others suggested him as KK`S replacement at the time. I think he`d fit into this supposed `continental system` that Wise/Ashley are trying to operate. Anyways, I` not sure he`d be given a chance here and many fans would be up in arms at the thought of appointing a lower league manager.
  18. He is rubbish though isnt he? he was a massive prospect when he was at Inter and they were reluctant to let him go but in the end had to for the Quaresma deal to happen. Seems to have lost his way a bit at Porto. Interesting to see how he`ll do at Portsmouth
  19. Don't most players? Daft thread. Bassong, and a few of the ones you listed all fine. Still the honeymoon period for NUFC and Bassong man......give it time and the ranting to the press will start
  20. what is it about French players and Newcastle? Just about every one we sign ends up moaning to the press (bar Sibierski!), complains about something , request transfers and end up leaving in 1 way or another. Something about their mentality when they come here or the north east air? Didier Domi, Franck Dumas, Sylvain Distin, Stephane Guivarc'h, David Ginola, Laurent Charvet, Laurent Robert, Charles N'Zogbia, Olivier Bernard, Alain Goma, Jean Alain Boumsong...
  21. mackems.gif Come on children ... let's not get too excited by that. There were no appendages involved, I repeat none whatsoever! Mathieu would be a top signing, young and left sided with a good future if they hype is to be believed. out of contract at the end of the season
