Unfortunately it's a simple question of buy mediocre, be mediocre. People didn't want to admit that the likes of Carroll, Adam and Downing had no place in a side that recently boasted the likes of Torres, Alonso and Mascherano.
A bizarre British first policy has left us in a worse position when we started to need improving radically after the Hicks/Hodgson debacle.
It gives me no pleasure to slate Liverpool players but Carroll looks as out of place in a Liverpool No. 9 shirt as Hodgson did on the bench. Ditto for Adam as the fulcrum in midfield.
Serious questions need to be asked about this policy and our direction.
Just hope we can salvage European football and a domestic cup from this season."
