  1. It's a re-issue 12" apparently, the percussion has been re-jigged.
  2. NEWCASTLE United’s legal row with former manager Kevin Keegan could drag on for months and seriously disrupt the club’s summer transfer strategy. The Journal understands that, while there is a preliminary hearing between the two legal teams to discuss the case early next month, it is highly unlikely an agreement will be reached then. Both legal teams are adamant they have a strong case, which means the arguments could carry on for weeks, if not months, before a settlement is concluded with a number of hearings required before the matter is eventually passed on to a Premier League arbitration panel. United’s owner Mike Ashley is determined not to back down in the dispute as a matter of principle, while Keegan, who is unlikely to work in football again, would like to maximise the size of his compensation claim. Keegan is believed to be seeking as much as £9m after he sued the club for constructive dismissal following his controversial departure back in September. Newcastle, though, believe Keegan quit and have made a counter claim for breach of contract. That potentially has significant knock-on effects for the club’s finances. United would like to see the case settled as quickly as possible so they know if they are going to have to pay out any compensation and, if so, how much. That would allow the board to adjust their business plan accordingly, but if the case drags on, there is a chance it will force them to trim their transfer budget in the summer so that there is money set aside to cover the cost of any future settlement. United are due to receive around £16m from the sale of Shay Given, David Rozehnal, James Milner and Charles N’Zogbia in the summer, money which has already been earmarked for player recruitment. Ashley is also, according to managing director Derek Llambias, willing to put in as much as £15m of his own money each season, which would give Joe Kinnear – assuming he returns to work following a triple heart-bypass operation – around £30m to play with. That is a significant amount in the present financial climate, but Ashley is not willing to break with his business plan and increase his personal investment, so any compensation to Keegan would reduce that figure unless the matter is eventually settled in Newcastle’s favour at an arbitration hearing. Llambias said: “We tried to keep him – Mike insisted that we should keep him. We tried our best to keep him, but once someone crosses that line, it’s very difficult to get them back.
  3. SA did a fair bit of whinging abuot the quality he was allowed to bring in. iirc he was keen on Diarra and Anelka at the time, but both wanted high wages.
  4. I was convinced we would be relegated if we'd kept him, probably moreso than I have been at any point this season tbh. EDIT: That might be in part due to the amount of shite at the bottom of the table this season. Your sig looks like a JK teamtalk.
  5. £10M budget and Joe Kinnear in charge. Arsenal and Villa must be shitting thaself. Isn't the £10 million what he's prepared to put in? Not sure how many other clubs owners are prepared to stick their hand in their pocket to finance their clubs. He is loaning newcastle the money ain't he, with zero interest? alternatively there is always the possibility that he has no other choice. "While the club made a profit of £8million during the transfer window, Ashley has insisted that all incoming signings are paid for up front. The norm in football is for clubs to make and receive staged payments for players" The clearest sign for me that he still wants to sell. He is looking for ongoing transparency in the accounts so as not to put off buyers. Something he has learnt from personal experience.
  6. A new low for you? What I'm saying is that in the meantime it does no harm saying he's here for the long haul, an example being that it keeps the players on their toes. I think he'll be gone in the summer personally. There isn't really a major positive for them stating this now though is there? Well ... other than to keep from bothering Parky's poor head.
  7. 4 windows already. Should be in the CL tbf.
  8. "I can confirm I met Newcastle representatives," Venables told The Sun. "Those talks will continue in the morning [today] when, hopefully, I can give them a final decision." Makes it sound like he slept on it not that they were locked in a room for 2 days thrashing out the minutae. Anyway, if he did spend 2 days in talks, sort of rubbishes the theory that the obvious cluelessness and mismanagement of Ashley put him off. If you want to insist on the length of deliberation then what does that mean about how he viewed Keegan's departure? Cant have it both ways. Its all irrelevant anyway, my personal view is that the turmoil put him off. A lot of managers simply wouldn't be prepared to risk their reputations by taking on a loser in the form of a board who wasn't going to give him the tools to succeed. Kinnear had nothing to lose, he just wanted to get back into the game having been forgotten about for a few years. Especially if they thought the supporters were not going to give them time. I know its not a popular point of view but i just dont get where the 'supporters are beyond reproach' idea comes from. From the wankers at Stamford bridge loudly complaining about london based part-timers, to the stupid cunt in front of me at SJP who indignantly responded to my joke about us having 'terrible ball-boys' with the fact that Shearer was one at Keegan's final match, i've met some fucking idiots supporting the toon and often the biggest ones have the loudest voices. Ashley + Keegan + Darwin = Kinnear.
  9. Two Michelin stars for you Chezweiler.
  10. Get rid of JK. Put down a 15m net summer spend. Shift the dead wood. Replace Wise with a genuine football man with experience. Simple.
  11. JK will be gone by the end of the summer. The bloke is clearly not well.
  12. He recruits players. So it's his fault Keegan walked and we ended up in complete and utter turmoil? That'll be why people want him out then. See what I mean? No I fully understand why people want him out, I'm just saying he won't be sacked and he does a good job. How do you know he does a good job when you don't even know what it is? We know he recruits players, other wise his job title wouldn't be Executive Director (Football) - Recruitment or something to that effect I remember reaing it when he signed and thinking thats a bloody weird job title. I'll find a link later when I have enough time. I was under the impression it was his job to recruit young talent. However in January Kinnear then stated he'd need to speak to Wise about his first team signings. Aye, they basically lied. I trust the Sun more than I do statements on nufc.co.uk now. Maybe his role's changed, or evolved. Who knows? I can't say that the precise nature of Dennis Wise's job description strikes me as one of the club's major issues right now, though. I think in the context of us getting in a manager better than Joe Kinnear it's extremely relevant. Like it or not, other managers will not look on the Keegan affair favourably and would seek clarity on the matter if approached. Well, just because we haven't seen his job description doesn't mean a potential manager won't get to discuss it. They'll get to discuss it but I doubt it will change, I honestly when Redknapp came for the interview that was the only reason he didn't take it and, if it wasn't for that we'd have wobbly face as manager now. Even though Redknapp was never actually offered the job? Well he definately had an interview, Keegan knew of the DOF plan when he took over, I'm sure they would have said this to redknapp and he basically would have said he wanted to work of his own accord, like he is at Spurs now. The reason Redknapp never took the job is because he was never actually offered it. That isn't what he says. Problem is, with two prolific self publicists (read: liars) contradicting one another, it's hard to tell where the actual truth is. From what I remember, Redknapp was spoken to about whether he'd be interested in the job but claimed that he'd never move from the south coast so taking the job would be out of the question. He wasn't offered the job because we already knew that he'd refuse it, but he was sounded out. Harry was approached big time.
