I sensed a tremor in the force this morning.

WHAT’S GOIN’ON? "Monday 30th June 2008 Right, Chris Mort has stood down as Chairman and Derek Llambias has taken over as Managing Director. Mike Ashley is said to be taking a more “hands on” approach with transfers but there is absolutely no public statement from Newcastle United, no press conference, no communication, no statement about transfer policy … fuck all … the absence of visible leadership at the top of Newcastle United leaves a lot to be desired. Who is the leader at Newcastle United? Who is in charge? Who is saying this is where we’re going, follow me? Why is Kevin Keegan so quiet? Why has he said nothing since his pronouncement at the end of last season that we’re going nowhere? Isn’t that the sum total of what he said to us? We don’t want Shepherd-style slack-jawed drivel but we do want communication. But... " http://www.true-faith.co.uk/html/tbawe.htm

the more i think about it the more i think the alleged 'offer' the club have made for him to cut his wages might be very astute He'll be sacked and we'll save £4m ish a year in wages. Personally the club should look if there is a possibility to sue Barton for bringing the club into disrepute. think you're right, they'll sack him once this verdict comes in assuming they're confident about the legal side of things re his registration, i reckon if there's ANY doubt we might not recoup transfer money for him they'd not sack him, hence the offer to cut his wages while they maybe waited out the chelski verdict appeal Mort has been looking at the legal side for a while. I'm confident Barton won't get the better of us.

There's a difference between an innocent victim and someone who is looking for trouble. This wasn't just some random bloke who happened to be passing. Of course we don't see the whole 11 minutes of CCTV or the bit where this bloke allegedly assaulted the girl. Of course, noone is condoning his reaction, but some of you must have lived very sheltered lives if this footage has made you think worse of Barton after knowing he was sentenced to 6 months in prison for the incident. What were you expecting? I expected it to be much worse than that tbh, Barton got a couple of decent hits in and the rest was nothing. If we locked everyone up who got involved in a bit of a scrap like this, we'd have to build up Hadrian's wall and use Scotland as one big open prison. Dozens of incidents worse than this happen in every city in the country every weekend. I really can't believe the girl got a suspended sentence for throwing a few chips at the bloke. Of course Barton doesn't have a history of violence. The bloke is totally at fault for being anywhere near him at 5 in the morning after he'd had a million drinks. I stand corrected.

Think he'll be sacked anyway.

Cause it's the victims fault?

Love it the way some people are suddenly the Krays. I've seen ants punch harder etc..Have a word with yerselves. He punched a random man about 14 times who wasn't fighting back. Disgrace.

Great post. very well put and sums up my thoughts concisely. I'll be one of the first to criticise those that need criticising if things don't go as planned, but I'll give them as long as possible to get things sorted. At the end of the day, I do trust in not only Keegan but Ashley as well and everyone in between; they have still got a lot to prove granted but believe they've only got the club's best interests at heart and I'm sure given time we'll be in a better place. I don't trust any of them bar Keegan. What reasons have you got to think that though, Parky? On the same note you could ask me why I say I trust them... I've just seen no real reasons to doubt them as yet. I guess it's time really. Haven't seen anything in particular to make me start thinking I trust them...Although trust is a big word I guess. Your position is as valid as mine tbh.

If we can afford to make a stand, make a stand but we can't at the moment. Geremi and Butt for your central midfield with Smith backing them up, that midfield all season will get us relegated. I'm not convinced relegation is a fair price to pay for the moral highe ground. For me it's get rid but get rid on our terms when we've got replacements through the door and we've got a means to recoup our losses. I'm pretty confident that won't be our midfield, anyway regardless it shouldn't mitigate our response to a player who clearly doesn't deserve to wear the black and white.

Should never play for us again IMO. Agreed. Would you want the club to just cut their losses as it were on him though? Yes. Not sure what we had in place regarding his pending issues with the law insurance wise or how much we could get for him in the market. But we need to find the least painful way (to us) to get shot of him. Really sickening images of a man with no self control and continuing to hit another man who isn't even fighting back. Dreadful.

Absolute disgrace.

Exactly this Not sure it is accurate to use this kind of thing as an indicator tbh. Top 4 for instance already have world class squads.

Knowing him it's probably double that. These are just some of the funds people can see remember.

If ManU had not rejigged their finances just to sign Rooney (i.e. Ferguson knew he couldnt miss out on him), we would have landed Rooney. At the time, Everton were your bog standard lower mid table team with no money and no indication of moving forwards. IMO they had nothing but a dirty side that kicked lumps out of the opposition team, although thats easy to forget now that them and e.g. Blackburn have moved on and play decent football. Right now we'd look back and think Rooney wouldnt move because it would be a sideways step, but at that time we were still a club that had recently been in the CL, we were still in Europe having just finished 5th, and we still had some star players in the squad - i.e. it looked like we merely had a blip as all sides do. Hence, we'd have been a sizeable step forward over Everton at the time. On top of all that, you have the fact that we'd have offered ludicrous wages that even now Everton wouldnt be able to or want to match, just as we did with Owen. Hence, if ManU werent in the picture (as they had led everyone to believe) and the choice was between moving to us on big wages and playing alongside Shearer et al, or staying with Everton for another year, I think he'd have moved, and therefore I dont see how it never would have happened. That is much closer to the reality yup.

Spurs need a monster DM and a world class DC and then they are going to be in serious contention.

Seemed to nice to manage Italy in some ways.

It is all a little confusing, replacing one error prone joker with another (although Robinson is better than Carson, at least the Carson of the latter half of last season). I think he's getting Brad Guzan in and wants another option alongside him. Weird logic, but you've got to trust the manager. I covered my face in shame when we signed Harewood, and he proved - goals per minute - to be amongst the most prolific strikers in the PL (weird but true). Hey, KD, I heard today you are going to pip us for the signing of Anton Ferdinand *prays* Would rather we kept Robinson than sign him tbh. You'll be getting Anton. The universe likes to balance out Karma.

It will be Cuellar, Deridiyok, Lennon, Zigic. +2 Happy now? Cuellar I could see. In fact as soon as Rangers find a replacement I think that will move quickly. Derdiyok I could see also. I think he will be one of the young ones, not for the academy, but who will be on the verge of the first team. Filling in for Martins as well as Viduka/our new targetman. Zigic ... I don't think he would be the guy to come in for Viduka. So your certainly wrong there Lennon? I don't think so either. I think Keegan prefers players with a semblance of intelligence to their game. Wrong again. I'll take 2 outta 4.

Are you sure the players agent isn't keen to invite a bid from Wenger. Doubt Arsenal would bring in a pretty boy DM when they need more of a destroyer alongside Cesc. Veloso is more of a Carrick/Pirlo sort. That player description should be added to FM.
