Did Duff in blackburn played almost at left wing? Yes and he had fatter legs. blueyes.gif
-
Is it my imagination or have his legs got skinnier?
-
He'll be feeding the poor of Africa next.
-
But it's been like that practically all season. Hoyte rested, Walcott injured, the rest foreign. Henry says in the dressing room the players always speak English, on the training ground French is the prominent language. Says it all really. Make then play in France ffs!1 >

Erm...Milner, Dyer, Luque?

Think he'll be gone in the summer. blueyes.gif

The signing of Duff is the maddest thing Rodent has done so far.
-
Should have started Zog at LB.
-
That's why I bang on about bringing the foreigner (3) rule back and (2) outside EU. Stops the elite clubs hoovering talent up abroad and having to develop thier youth system (English players). Also it levels the playing field reg smaller clubs.

this is the problem. Most of us were happy with Duff, and we would be if he was performing too. Zoggy was young and was always likely to dip in form then come back stronger, its a normal process. Now however, he needs to get games and develop his ability that he obviously had from the start, and for me he can become a really top player if he does this. If Duff doesn't hit form he will have to go. If he does, we could play Zoggy inside, he has supposedly said he would like to do this, or maybe Duff could become a left back. Is he up to it in the premiership I wonder ? I think with a more experienced and self-assured manager, it wouldn't matter that Duff was one of their own signings or not, they'd drop the player if they weren't performing. With Roeder, he feels he has to defend himself at every turn (not without good reason when you think of some of the crap he's got from the likes of Allardyce and Redknapp) and puts undue significance on "his" signings as opposed to players he's inherited. he'll play Duff if he's fit 9 times out of 10, which doesn't leave much time on the pitch for Zoggy. There should be more rotation imo. As you've said, there are other options in terms of fitting both players into the side, with the present squad, Duff at LB would be the most sensible. Agreed. Shirk the tough decisions and you'll lose your job, the same as choosing between Butt and Parker. Agreed, Roeder is failing the big descsions mainly imo because he doesn't have the psychological makeup of a top manager and is trying to please all at all times.

....I admit it was the easiest place to look. Zidane doesn't think so btw.

Yes You 100% sure? Yes it was mentioned in the Newcastle United Plc Interim Results for the six months ended 31 December 2006 released on 30th March this year. Got a link? Not that i dont believe you, i just want to actually see it with my own eyes and put this one to bed, cheers. It was on .cock ages ago, in the middle of some zillion page document you had to download. Wiki: He finished fourth in the club's leading goal scorers in the 2005-06 season with six goals. He also contributed five assists in the Premier League. This good form attracted clubs such as Arsenal and was tipped by Zinedine Zidane to have a future in the French national team but he signed a three year contract extension for Newcastle at the end of the season. Newcastle finished 7th in the Premiership that season.

Yes You 100% sure? He was meant to sign a 3 yr extension at the end of last season...I think he did sign. There was lots of talk of it offered, that its was going to be signed, then nothing, and IIRC its been asked here before and no definitive answer was ever concluded. Since Com (the new cock) has him as retained until 09, it suggests the new 3 year extension wasn't signed doesn't it? As an 09 finish would of meant he was already out in 06 when he was supposed to signt he 3 year, which we all know he wasn't Confused.com I'm not sure now. I don't remember any re-signing fuss...So you maybe right. I think he's already pencilled in to replace that Swedish prick.

18 years of a father then none, i know people at older ages not getting over their parents deaths for much longer than that. Its not like he lost his cat you know. Old article, but worthy of a recap: Charles N'Zogbia makes his first appearance of the year at St James' Park in tomorrow's derby game with Middlesbrough - with Glenn Roeder insisting he is the future of Newcastle United. The 21-year-old Frenchman came on as a sub at Wigan on Sunday after recovering from what he describes as "the worst injury of my career " against Chelsea in December. And no sooner was N'Zogbia back in a black-and-white shirt then talk re-surfaced of just how much Arsene Wenger would love him to add him to the French contingent at Arsenal. But Roeder insisted today: "I will treat any talk of Charles going to Arsenal - or anywhere else for that matter - with utter contempt. Story continues Continue story ADVERTISEMENT "He is the future of Newcastle United and, take it from me, he is going to be here for a very long time. "We are trying to build a good squad of young players here and I intend to keep my best players. Charles N'Zogbia is one of them. "And we have seen nowhere near the best of him yet." N'Zogbia goes into tomorrow's match without a goal this season - and knowing that his last goal was in the derby match at Sunderland last April. Indeed, Roeder has had a poor return from his left flank this season, with only Damien Duff's goal in the win at West Ham coming from here. N'Zogbia is the current North East Young Player of the Year, but there is no doubt he has been badly affected by the death of his father in France and the departure of his mentor Jean Alain Boumsong to Juventus. But Roeder believes that N'Zogbia has found more inner strength and maturity as he has recovered from his knee injury. The United boss added: "This has been a disappointing season for Charles because of his injury and that fact that he has been in competition with Damien Duff on the left wing. "That's why it is important that he finishes the season strongly. "That was a nasty injury he got at Chelsea, but he has worked hard to get fit again and the 30-minute blow-out he had at Wigan puts him in contention for tomorrow. "Don't forget he is still only 20 and that a lot has happened to him in a short space of time. "He's one of those players who says very little at the training ground but he is starting to come out of his shell." With GR record of transfer marker U-turns, that's pretty much case closed. blueyes.gif

Fancy a virtual £5 on it 9? Make that a virtual £500 Done.
-
Did he sign the new contract?

Fancy a virtual £5 on it 9?

You would say that. Souness?
-
Well for a start he's realised Duff is GR's No.1 regardless of form...and recently he hasn't even made the bench. Also the rumours of training ground unhapiness between manager and player and the fact Wenger wants him. End of story really.

What to do about the left side? I can't see Luque staying either and Duff would then be our only specialist. If we get good money, most will be unhappy if a fair chunk isn't spent on the def ie Looks like we'll need at least one £5m+ CD to take control of the middle and play with Taylor etc..And we deffo need a left back. If money is tight we will probably have to carry the RB postion and rotate Solano/Hunty etc there. Letting Zoggy go we are creating a problem without a guarantee of an easy replacement (of similar quality) we currently don't have. Admittedly the blow will be softened if we get £7m plus for him which is imo his real value..(see Spuds season and a half attempt and failure to get a good lefty). This a headache we don't need.
-
Quite simply, currently the best manager in the world IMO. A little too def at times.
-
As usual t you serve up another post of ludicrously high quality...Agree with all of that and the fact we already have Ameobi bit and better not to put long ball temptation in Rodents way. I am saddened however to see others scurry off and find Kanu's goalscoring stats...He is a creative forward and not an out and out striker he see's passes, one's two and space where others seed darkness. He would link up ideally with the ground football I'd like to see us play behind Owen or Martins, whoever was unavailable. The other thing people have to understand is that he is on a fair whack at Boro I'd guess 50/60k some even say 70k (you know Boro and their star player wages)...So his reluctance to resign would mean he is expecting the same or more elsewhere. He isn't free...Wages and signing on fee alone he would cost us £5m over 2 years...I doubt he'd sign for one. He also has a history of getting injured and these things don't improve with age. Totally a high risk and deffo NOT FREE signing. I see G has already backed off to the point of using the freeing up money for def argument.
