Not necessarily, a club as small as Bournemouth was always going to need a shit load of investment to manage to stay in the PL. The quality of the signings he was able to get was always going to suffer due to the size of the club, so will have had to overspend compared to relative quality.

You're not wrong, I just feel that both him and Martinez are completely the wrong choices for what we need right now. Fairly or not, it will raise questions for me regarding their ambition in January if it's Howe, as he's never been at a club anywhere near as big as Newcastle, and his profile certainly isn't the highest. In that sense (and only in that) I think Martinez might be a better candidate, as at least he's worked with world class players.

Haven't really got an issue it leaking to the press. It's far more worrying that Martinez and Howe are (seemingly) their second choice options. Press leakage happens all the time at all clubs. Just look at Spurs in the summer for example, we had new stories every day about who was going to take over.

Also seriously worried about keeping Jones on tbh. The absolute shit shows he's served up in his two games in charge, after having worked with the squad for months really doesn't bode well for the future.

No, but surely they must have been able to identify a better second choice than Howe in the time this has taken? I find this worrying in all kinds of ways tbh, yes Emery would have been an ambitious hire, but we failed on that. Don't think the list of potential signings will be overly eager to join an Eddie Howe lead Newcastle in the relegation zone in January.

This really isn't a good start for the new consurtium. If we end up with Howe three weeks after sacking Bruce, 'the process' really hasn't been working.

Howe would have been a very good appointment after Rafa, when he already had a solid defence in place that he could build from. He would be the completely wrong option now though in the state we're in.
