I must admit, I find it distinctly funny that everyone is treating Gerrard's move to MLS exactly like a retirement. That's gotta hurt if you're an MLS fan

I knew there was a reason I unsubscribed from that…

FFP has done no such thing. There are more than enough loopholes for an owner with cash and outside interests.

This makes me feel better than some random Internet table.

Mid-table stability. We are roughly where we should be. Accept it and don't dare have any delusions of aiming higher. As are we

It's definitely ridiculous. Players'll just go to Belgium or another country first, where they hand out citizenship after a few years, and then they'll come to the Prem.

Invigorating to see that our proactive, KPI-driven approach has engendered a response on the part of our invaluable team players that is characterised by significantly improved acceptance metrics vis-a-vis potential resistance points.

The only one there apart from the manager producing said manager-speak. When corporate decides to roll out whatever globally, I have to role-play the presentation/introduction with them 10 times until they feel confident enough to stand up and do the whole thing in English in front of 20 people like you who aren't listening anyway.

It makes me cringe to listen to him, like, but I can't be the only one that hears this kind of shite at work all the time, too. God, no. When they start my brain turns off and my ears fold in for self-protection. I can spend hours in pointless meetings and emerge with no idea what happened other than I lost half a day. It's like the Bermuda fucking Triangle in those rooms. I've got two of them next week ffs. I'm not allowed to stop listening because I'm usually the only one there or I have to translate the shit into English so they can inflict it on exponentially more people I occasionally get called upon to proofread emails they want to send out across the globe. I always point out that the first three paragraphs say literally nothing, and they always respond that this is exactly as intended. It's like a corporate Wadsworth Constant. I swear, if anyone from corporate at this company accidentally sent an email with important information in the first 200 words, it would sink without a trace because everyone's habituated to ignoring the first 3 paragraphs of any missive from corporate.

I don't think you can describe what he did at Liverpool as "managing". He had a habit of picking random Liverpool players for England that he'd managed (Martin Kelly springs to mind) so I thought that might be in his reasoning You give him too much credit, methinks.

I don't think he meant that. If he did, why wasn't Man City mentioned over (or at least alongside) their poorer neighbours?
-
Damn right. What the fuck is Chelsea doing in that list?

Loss is a bit harsh. They've got to still be worth at least a tenner.

Aye. English is basically a no-brainer for everybody else in the world. What to do when you've already got that one licked? Still, I'd like to see foreign languages pushed a bit more in the UK. If nothing else, it might give English-speakers an idea of how fucking difficult it is to speak foreign, and then they might not be such embarrassing tits about the dude in McDonald's not speaking fluent English when they go abroad.

Simon Mullock @MullockSMirror Nov 28 That £115,261,136 spent on agents' fees last yr equates to approx £8.26 from every ticket sold for Premier League games last season Ace Fucking hell. That'd pretty much buy you a ticket to most Bundesliga games. Something deeply wrong with the Prem

we paid more than qpr. We paid more than almost everyone

That's rough man, hang on in there. It's an interesting question, though, although I guess it's rare that people know what's coming. Did you come up with an answer? Ta for the words of support, lads. I'm more of a "Wolfgang has left the building, time to burn his meat suit" than "he's in a better place, smiling down on us" kind of guy. I reckon, if feasible, you should give your loved ones/mates a proper send-off while they're still around to enjoy it. With a bit of luck, they'll die of laughter right there instead of in some skanky hospital bed staring at the wall.

Put a good friend in the ground today The whole concept of funerals/wakes is fucked up. What's the fucking point holding a ceremony for him and a big party afterwards if he isn't there? Everyone knew he was going to die soon, so why the fuck didn't we hold the big fucking party for him a few weeks ago when he was still alive? "Wolfgang would have loved this!" So why didn't we do it two weeks ago when he could have literally enjoyed it in person?

In terms of competing for the league, the additional CL games will be a bigger problem than Suarez leaving, imo.

Yup, those are the prices for the cheapest tickets in the stands in the ends (which is where I'd want to be in any case). Still, the £300 he compares it to is about right for the Prem (possibly too low) for a similar ticket. You have to bear in mind that those are standing tickets in the Bundesliga vs seated in the Prem. Here are all Bayern's prices. Even the priciest tickets are ~£600, which is lower than a few English clubs' cheapest tickets. Looking at Bundesliga season ticket prices vs Prem ones, with a few outliers, they seem to be £300-400 cheaper across the board (cheapest to most expensive) rather than, say, 1/3 of the price.

I reckon charging some away fans twice what you charge others (or the home fans) is a massive can of worms. Agree 100% regarding TV money vs ticket prices. Hoeness is a tax-dodging crook, but he was right about ticket prices: He's also been very up front about charging an arm and a leg for corporate boxes to subsidise normal fans' tickets.
