Here's a question for you. Given that golfmag knew about Pardew's appointment well in advance and said that part of his job was to get costs down etc etc does the signing of Cisse signal a change in attitude from Ashley? Be interesting to hear his/other people's thoughts on it.

Was just saying today how much happier I am just having a team that competes and at least looks like it's improving. Happy days.

Fwiw I think he intended to get us knocking it about on the floor a bit more but started by making us solid. As the season has gone on it's looked like if we stay solid we'll win because Ba always fucking scores (Norwich is a perfect example of this, if we defend to a reasonable standard in that game we take three points because Ba had two chances and scored the both) So he's reassessed (sp?) the priorities and come up with 'be very hard to break down, get the ball to Ba'. Now that we've got Cisse as well I think it's gonna be the same philosophy but with two clinical strikers to aim for. Whilst I was concerned by how easily Villa went through the middle of us today we all know why that was. In light of all this it's pretty hard to argue with Pardew's philosophy at the minute. Whether he tries to improve our football next season remains to be seen but I've got a feeling he will. For now though it's whatever works, we're a point behind 4th ffs.

Really glad it's not broken, he was brave as fuck and made the goal, plus he's having a decent season, I like the fella.

Loved the way he kept using his body to win the long balls, brought them down easily and passed it off. I wasn't expecting someone as good on the ball as that. Such a calm finish as well.

the game matters more because the team in 8th gained three points on us yesterday, whoever they are. -
First of all, it's the mackems, we're at home and we've got every chance of fielding our best 11 bar Saylor. I'm entitled to be confident. Secondly, if we lose a home derby being wrong on the internet will be the least of my worries.
-
They've got a much better man manager and motivator now, though. Won't make any difference when they're trying to defend for 90 mins in this game.
-
They won't come here and successfully shut up shop and hit us on the break. Their players won't be able to handle the pressure, they never can.

Indeed, if we can't beat this shower at home we'll only have ourselves to blame if we don't qualify for Europe. -
he's lying

well confused, just went to watch the second half on the telly and it's not on sky or espn

you think pardew will find a place for him permanently then? he strikes me more of a meat and drink 2 strikers and 2 hard working wingers type I've seen nothing so far to suggest Ben Arfa doesn't work hard tbh. I also don't think we'll be limited to 4-4-2, Ba looks like he could play in the middle of the 3 in the 4-2-3-1. Two decent full backs opens up all sorts of opportunities as well.
-
I hope he only has to wait patiently until Sunday, after the last 2 games Cisse should also start as he could hardly be less effective than whoever he replaces. This is it like, Pardew talked about how he's experienced so he'll be used to the pressure etc. Start him then.

On the contrary I think they'll have a go. 8 goals in their last three aways v Chelsea Arsenal and Wolves. We're certainly vulnerable to their pace. Zog Keane Bent etc are all quicker than the core of our defence. Do you think they'll bring the game to us or sit off and try and hit us on the break? -
I've got a feeling these discussions won't be as detailed once we've got some proper strikers for him to pass to. It'll be a case of assists, goals, job done. Again. And I've always said we'll see the best of him next season when he's got a pre season and more comfortable with the league, not that I think he's done badly this season.

incidentally, Jonas loses the ball an awful lot
-
They are, and the emphasis put on it by Pardew is the cause of it all imo.

They'll park the bus. We've got Demba's, we'll win. -

Cisse looks a hard cunt like, well shields. -
Really? Your support of the club rests on whether one player is involved/not involved? That fascinates me on several levels. If you hate that player so much that it affects your support, why not find a club where you like all if the players. Wouldn't you guys enjoy that infinitely more? Ffs, i dont think he meant it literally to be fair to the guy. Likely not but the pissing and moaning about players and a gaffer that has us in 5th spot on 3 Feb is really rattling my cage. We have a very real opportunity to be in 4th come Sunday evening and yet people still slag off the squad and manager. It is no wonder Newcastle supporters have the reputation of being completely delusional. Back on topic - I hope Cisse starts on the bench and gets the second half. I think it may be overwhelming to start after the couple of weeks that he has had. That and it will give the crowd a lift. you absolutely reek of someone that hasn't had to watch Shola for ten years
