  2. saw an interview with marcello lippi very shortly after capello got the england job, saying that because of the language barrier he personally would never take a job in england, just thought i'd throw that in who knows whether its true or not, oliver seems like a right tool though
  3. isn't spence implying that mort is mentioning having these players back as a round about way of saying 'we dont need to buy' not that i necessarily agree, but that seems to be what he is getting at
  4. ignoring all other aspects of his game by the time he came to us, i thought kluivert had a fantastic first touch
  5. got bolton signing written all over him, by the sound of it
  6. mackems.gif I think this thread should now be closed and made a sticky after that classic piece of tripe above. were i to play devils advocate and ask what gave it its tripe like qualities, what would your response be? My response would be that if you can't see the obvious for yourself it isn't worth my time explaining. I imagine by now you've read posts from others of the same belief as myself. Ask one of them, they may have more patience with your type than I have. Cheers mate, its a forum, i ask you very nicely to explain your reasoning and you come back with that, you just make yourself look like a dick to be honest, you've got this good cop bad cop split personality in your posting where you try and come across as the voice of reason but with posts like this you reveal yourself to be an extremely arrogant, small minded fool i've been nothing but civil towards you and you continue to say things like you dont have patience with my 'type' and that i'm not capable of discussion, yet with your constant sniping and ignoring direct questions it seems that you're the one incapable of debate i've had enough, get f*****

aye, and lets get bramble back in from wigan while we're at it, he's scored two in two!
  8. ...ahem i wonder if we're going for both brown and ben haim or just one or the other, if what the papers are saying is true and chelsea want 2 mill for ben haim then i can see us paying it like he's been dodgy for Chelsea at times like hasn't he? have to admit i've not seen him play much at all this season, thought he was good at bolton though and it wouldnt surprise me if sam thought he could get him playing again

It's actually both and he has neither. Get rid. I disagree with that, there is so little time on a football field to think about what you're doing there cant be any thought processes with the ball at your feets, its all sensory feedback. i think there's a big grey area, its difficult to seperate 'talent' and 'intelligence' imo, as i'd say that anyone that can use their brain well in sport is talented in a way i guess the easiest way i'd try and simplify it would be to say that a good first touch takes talent as its very reactionary, and a perfect through ball takes intelligence as its all about spacial/spatial (sp) awareness, and weight

yeah they tell you to focus on what it was like when you were fully fit while you're doing your rehabilitation too, to put yourself in the moment of being on top form, mind over matter
  12. you're sacked, actually, we dont need fans like you

His strike record for Inter was roughly 1 in 3 which is what it is with us. That's is what we paid for and what we got. If you want a 1 in 2 striker you have to put up the cash. True! I rememeber fergie saying something about the need for Rooney to spread his goals out over a good number of games, because his scoring record was similar to Martins. Id rather have Martins have 15 scoring games a season with 15 goals, than 15 goals in 8 scoring games over the season. If that makes sense. haha. you can just see it, 'oba, oba, miss this one son, save it for next week at arsenal' sounds like you're saying he needs to be more consistent

yeah he REALLY doesn't like the cold does he? have to say if sam stays i can see more effort/cash being put into defence than attack, all depends on how much money he gets/doesnt get
  15. Why on earth should they stick up for the twerp? There should maybe be some kind of statement on what is happening though. being legally savvy i imagine mort will wait for the outcome of the FIRST trial before saying anything in public, i have to say though that the silence so far doesnt bode well for mr barton imo good on em i say, cancel his contract, keep his registration incase anyone else wants to sign him, make an example of the daft bastard

He needs service. When he gets it he messes up far too often i'm afraid, and i'm sorry parky, what torres cost liverpool is irrelevant, whether you think he was worth the money or not isnt gonna make martins a better player Martins is not a top tier forward comparing him to the likes of Torres or Villa or RVN is grossly unfair. If you lot want a forward all these posts reflect well stump up the £30m and you can have one. to be fair you were the one who started saying things like put him in a different team and he'll score more etc, as i've said though, that counts for anyone, more chances, more goals, anyway i'm not gonna start repeating myself, i just dont think he's good enough

  20. ....after 21 games....with 9 new players including a whole new back 4 and a new formation, are you surprised he isnt? Look at Man City. in my opinion, man city were a lot further on than us as a club however before thaskin and ashley took over. they have a solid academy, one of the best around, and foundations built on stone, not the quick sand ours are/were on. i would bet any amount of money we have undergone more radical change than they have. its going to take time whether we like it or not, whether its sam, allardyce, mourinho or any other manager who we get/may want. as someone has already mentioned, this season is a right off regardless, and i for one believe we will be a much better run club at the end of the season with scouting networks, youth player intake etc. we wers s**** anyway, while we were a mess all over/thick of debt /one full time scout etc. so we may as well be s**** while sam sorts all of that out and then see at the end of the season. i think brummie's post yesterday should go a long way with what they went through last year, very similar to us and finished 11th, now everyone is licking their balls. sacking sam now will do nowt whatsoever, and comparing us to man city wont do much either as they were a better organised club than us and have spent a hell of a lot more money (i think, im f***** if they havnt!), which they can afford to do as they have the foundations of youth and a flourishing academy, we dont. more sense, thank god
  21. Was just thinking of that. haha, when the guys head explodes, class

i agree with that, but you can say that about any player, the more chances they get, the more they'll score, his conversion rate is just too low imo What is Torres conversion rate? Not saying Martins is better because he clearly isn't but Torres misses a lot of chances, the thing is he gets himself in the positions and with the chances created he will score. good point, i have to admit i dont have stats, but i watch martins more than i watch torres, seems torres cant quite lace up his shooting boots away from home but he looks deadly at anfield, torres is much the classier player though, excellent close control which means he can use his pace to go past people like they aren't there, martins just doesnt have that talent

  24. ....after 21 games....with 9 new players including a whole new back 4 and a new formation, are you surprised he isnt? Look at Man City. i dont think its a fair comparison tbh, they had a settled defensive unit, including a very good centre back pairing already performing very well, allardyce had to literally start again Garrido, Corluka & Ball have all been there less than a year, they've been chopping and changing their goalkeeper, and they lost one of their main centre-halves on a Free. and Richards was playing at RB last year. indeed, i still think sven had more to work with though, dont you? i really dont see the point that people are trying to make when they say, managers dont need time, look at man city, are you saying sven's a better manager than sam? well he's had consistent results at different clubs so you're stating the obvious, of course he's a better manager, we can see that from his record, but allardyce has a decent record too, in this league, one that suggests it would be wise to give him a bit of time to do his job, thats all i'm saying.
