  1. -----------------Villa Robben-------Kaka-------Ronaldo --------M.Diarra--L.Diarra Amazing. They still need a centre half and a left back though.

Certainly won't be doing that Baines has been absolutely excellent for the last 6 months. As for tonight's game, I thought the England side was pretty badly balanced in midfield and unimaginative with its build-up play but you can get away with that against the likes of Andorra. Glen Johnson had a good game but the right back being your sides best attacking threat is pretty poor stuff really. It was only when Defoe came on that there was an edge up front, with Crouch particularly hopeless, and Ashley Young made a bit of a difference to the midfield. Agree with those who don't rate Walcott btw. I've never been convinced by him, only seems to do it as an impact sub against tired legs. It would be interesting to see how he'd fare with a run of game up front though because he's certainly a s*** winger.

Apparently they don't have buses, taxis or cars in London. The fuckers are lucky to have such an extensive tube system anyway, paid for by everyone else's taxes and all.
  5. Same team Barcelona take blood money off while wearing Unicef on their shirts
  6. Why not? He was at Sheff Wed on loan then spent a season at Portsmouth reserves
  7. I can see him jumping at the chance to go to Villa actually I think people here more than anywhere will know Owen's priority is England so he'll be desperate to play alongside Heskey who is the current flavour of the month up front for the national side
  8. I really don't see what the fuss is about with him. He's good but if Everton signed him I wouldn't exactly be jumping for joy so it baffles me why two of the best sides in the world are fighting over him.
  9. That's true. But they dont play in the same position either.. Don't they? Both strikers that can also play out wide. Eto'o used to switch positions with Ronaldinho through the course of a game to great effect before Ronaldinho got fat and lazy.
  10. The shirt wasn't crap enough, the designers needed something else to top off this abomination. It was a nice idea doing a retro '85 kit but the execution is just awful.
  11. Couldn't agree more. Made by the same bloke who made Roker Park, Fratton Park and Ibrox with the same tell tale wooden X's down the lengths of the stands. Very distinctive. Of course most of that has now gone, and not been replaced by anything as distinctive But still good old fashioned kind of ground - WITH CHARACTER - shame it's three-quarters filled by mouthy scousers (When they're doing well, anyways) The Archibald Leitch criss crosses are still there on the Bullens Road & Gwladys Street stands albeit the ones at the St End are hidden by advertising boards. Keefaz- the ground in Kirkby wouldn't be sponsored by Tesco, it would be some other company. There would be a new Tesco and a massive retail park next door though. Depressing.
  12. Lescott won't go to Villa. From our point of view you're our main rival and selling you one of our best players would send out an awful message. From his point of view it's a sideways step to play in front of fans I think it's fair to say he will not be keen on. Plus the whole gangsters/kneecap thing. If he goes anywhere it will be to City who can offer us daft money that will persuade us to reluctantly sell. Or if not, daft wages to turn the players head and force us into selling. I think talk of Villa or Arsenal buying him is way off as they can't afford to do that.
  13. I read something the other day that said that Everton only stand to make about 6m a year extra from the move to the new stadium. Goodison is currently a bit of a mess, and a ground from a bygone age, but in my book that's exactly why, if you leave and go to some bland-o-drome, another little piece of football history will die. I'd take a trip to Goodison - poor facilities, bad view and all - over a trip to something like the Riverside absolutely every day of the week. I hope you don't move. That £6m is only if the place is sold out every week which there is no chance in hell of. Even if we started winning things again it wouldn't fill up because there's so much opposition and bad feeling about the thing before it's been built since it's not in the city boundaries. It being a cheap Lego set in a total dump of an area with shocking transport links won't help its cause either.
  14. I'm imagining some poor Dutch fella with a sweat on frantically phoning round Premiership clubs from an office at the Amsterdam Arena being told "Thanks, but no thanks, already made plans" After about 12 teams crossed out on his list was Sunderland
  15. Yes but Owen is available for free and the Martins isn't. The question is whether Moyes is looking for freebies or looking to take his team to the next level. Owen might appear to be free but sign him up and the chairman isn't getting any other striker for Moyes this summer. So when Owen gets the measles, malaria, typhoid etc and misses all of preseason and then gets his standard knee knock here, ankle knock there and hamstring strain everywhere, and the team is no better off than it was last season because even when he plays he is never match fit, I bet the fans will feel like he is costing them a hell of a lot then. Owen will hold them back if anything and he is only getting older and more pathetic physically. Waste of money. We're absolutely skint so I don't see us going for players like Martins unless City make a daft offer for Lescott and we cash in. I personally believe the Owen rumour and think he will sign. Not very happy about it, mind. Genuine question. How is the new stadium going to be funded? Sale of Goodison, sale of the old training ground, subsidy from Tesco, sale of naming rights and a massive bank loan with sky high interest payments. Sounds good eh? I don't think it will get the go ahead though, thank fuck.
  16. You want Sakho? Surely a teenage centre half from a foreign league is the LAST thing that Arsenal side needs. I don't care how good he is. You need a team. Buying a no-nonsense Terry/Jagielka/Carragher-type defender would go a long way to building one.
  17. LOL at Arteta to Spurs. Out of interest, and with all due respect, has there been a serious bid for Arteta from a bigger club yet, i.e. a top end CL one? Or is he a highlights player or something, i.e. blows hot and cold and looks good only when you see him having a good game? Has there been any real interest in him from the elites? Always thought he was underrated and should be playing for someone like Real Madrid. Maybe not world class or a true international calibre player, but at club level he has that mix of technical ability and workrate (from what I've seen, and compared to the likes of Deco anyway) that would make him a good squad midfielder to have for a CL club. He's definitely not a highlights player. Puts a half decent shift in for the type of player he is and when he moved into central midfield this year he was out of this world after going stale out wide. Not sure whether there has been any interest from a club the stature of Milan, Real Madrid or suchlike but I think Atletico Madrid have tried to buy him a few times and been knocked back. I don't think he would actively want to leave us unless a really top side made an offer or if he got fed up of not being picked for Spain and in that case I wouldn't really blame him but there is 0% chance of him going to somewhere like Spurs. Quite offensive actually, the idea that they could just come in and take him off us when it's a sideways step at best.
  18. Yes but Owen is available for free and the Martins isn't. The question is whether Moyes is looking for freebies or looking to take his team to the next level. 19. Are you joking? They're splashing about money as recklessly as Chelsea ever did. The only reason they haven't spent even more obscene amounts like the Robinho deal on a regular basis is that they are struggling to convince the big stars unlike Chelsea did with their location and already being in the top 4 back then. I mean, how is £13m for Bridge sensible? Nothing special leftback who had been rotting away in the reserves at another club is worth that high a fee and a £90k a week pay packet? He's been predictably poor for them since signing. How about £18m for De Jong? He's not worth that much anyway but doubly so when he had only 6 months left in his contract before he was available for £2.5m through a get out clause. They paid top dollar for Bellamy as well considering his age/injury problems/patchy form since leaving Blackburn. Now Barry is getting not a £60k wage, but a £60k RISE, according to one of the papers.
  20. Seems like Owen to us is going to happen judging by how strong the rumours are. Can't say I'm too happy as I just don't see how he would fit into our team. I'd rather not drop one of Cahill/Yak/Fellaini to accommodate him & we haven't got the players for a midfield 4 regardless.
  21. Stay at Villa for another few years and retire as a club legend or join the travelling circus that is Man Citeh for the cash? Hmmm. His decision shows what kind of person he is. I could see why he'd think Liverpool were too good an offer to turn down for sporting reasons but City is just pathetic really.
  22. How was the atmosphere generally? Hard to accurately tell from TV. Agree though. Our right side is our main weak spot. Atmosphere was decent from us in the first half, when Chelsea scored the 2nd we died off a bit and they suddenly piped up. Then towards the end and after the final whistle the singing got going again as a sort of 'thank you' to the players. They all came over at the end plus Moyes, Jags, Arteta etc It was generally louder against United in the Semi though, I think it was always going to be a struggle to match that again in a massive bowl-type ground like Wembley with a reduced allocation.
  23. No gripes with the result. Chelsea are just simply a better side than us, although I did wonder if it was just a case of it being our year against the odds when Saha scored. We did well to get this far especially with the injuries etc so I was pleased that most of our fans stayed for a good while applauding the players for their efforts. I'm sure there would have been a mass exodus by the Chelsea fans if the shoe was on the other foot. At least it might have highlighted how much Hibbert needs replacing. Malouda destroyed him. Osman has had a poor season as well, our right side was a weak link that they targeted all day.
