I don't think it is optimistic, either, City will pay the fee regardless how stupid it is. 12m for Barry with one year left on his contract, I assume Lescott has a while to run on his, and as you say, Glen Johnson for 18m, Bridge for 13, 15 for Toure, that kind of puts it into perspective. It is the right sort of figure, but only because Man City have sent things so f***ing mental. This is all heading for a very, very bad place. Yeah, it's not a sustainable situation. The main danger is the crazy wages they are offering which is more likely to have a knock-on effect at other clubs (and leagues) than the transfer fees. Just as it did with Chelsea. Hopefully Man City will just operate in their own fucked up little bubble but I doubt it.

I don't think £20m is optimistic at all. Glen Johnson has just gone for nearly that much and City themselves paid £13m for Bridge who is deeply average. They're also looking at paying £15m for Toure who is older than Lescott, less important to his club and coming off the back of a poor season. If we sell for any less I will be livid.

When Pearce played his so-called B side they played germany off the park. The man is clueless.

Yeah, he's been quite decent for us the past two seasons. He sat on the bench for a good while, but had a very good run in the team as we were fighting through the league. He big (like 6'4-5), but not particularly talented or graceful imo. Still, he has wonderful fight and spirit about him. Disappointed the club is letting him go without even offering a contract. Great player to have on the bench, though not as a starter. Don't think it would be a great move for him though. Lescott, Yobo, and Jagielka are all better. Oh, I was under the impression he's primarily a right back that can also play centre half. Is it the other way round? I think Lescott will be off once City offer enough money to us. I reckon his head will be turned by stupid wages. Yeah, it's the opposite. However I don't think he has the quickness/nimbleness to play right back in Ligue 1, so I'd imagine he'd have difficulty in the Premiership. With the emergence of Baines and Jagielka, I don't think Everton would miss Lescott too much btw. Ok. Thanks for the info. I think Jagielka is probably better than Lescott and Yobo is a decent player to come into the side but Lescott is still one of the best centre halfs in the league regardless. If we get £20m+ for him then it won't be too bad. Around half of that will have to go on a replacement immediately though with Jags out 'til November at least. Then Yobo and the new guy can fight it out to partner Jags.

babatunde, you seen much of Civelli for Marseille? What's he like? Some rumours that he's signing on a free. Jacobsen being let go seems to add a bit of weight to that.

Gibbs got raped by Sweden. Needs to buck his ideas up if England are going to win this. Baffled as to why Muamba keeps getting picked ahead of Rodwell too, the lad can't pass a ball.

I'd guess somewhere like Moscow or that Uzbeki team, Bunyodkor, judging by the family quote.

It was a goal. Top bluffing from Howard.

Is it though? He needs to go somewhere that he will play everyweek (doubtful at Chelsea) im sure other clubs would have wanted him in the Premiership who could play him week in week out. Didn't he have absolutely ridiculous wage demands though? Even City wouldn't pay them. Surely nobody is though? Chelsea certainly won't be, maybe they plan on loaning him out, could see him at a club like Everton tbh where he would get plenty of games at a good level. He was asking for £60-70k a week. Imagine him walking in the dressing room and being a higher earner than the likes of Arteta, Jags & Cahill? Or going somewhere like Villa and pulling in more than Young or Petrov? Jumped up little twat.

Looks like a shellsuit from the late 80's.

Does it really take that many people to watch SSN and copy whatever story they are running half an hour later? -
Everton are not for sale no matter what Kenwright says in the media.

JVoH is probably worse than Hartson ever was. Still, could have mentioned Di Canio or Viduka if he had a clue what he was on about.

I was one of the people this time last year saying Spurs would flatter to deceive but I think this time round they will actually do well if, and it's a big if, they just let 'Arry get on with it. He'll wheel and deal to buy a team rather than a few exotic but useless names. Results have been good with the current crop since he took over too.
-
There is literally no chance at all of Rodwell being loaned out. Wouldn't surprise me if he was in our first XI by the end of the coming season. Sure I read Di Santo was supposed to be going to Blackburn as well? Beevers would be a very good signing though, promising centre half.

Shit in the previous game though and shit for Bolton.

I'd be disappointed but not surprised if Naughton ended up at Villa. Apparently we've been making enquiries about Miguel from Valencia who is probably better in the present day but at 29 I'd prefer to sign the young English lad who would potentially be top drawer for years to come.

That's a headline I never thought I would see, Wigan not interested in St. Michael
-
Playing in the middle. Isn't Bentley naturally a central player? Keep Milner on the right and have Bentley in the middle for a bit more creativity alongside Petrov.
-
Great move. Shame really, we wanted him. He is a step up on their current rightbacks. Yep. I would be very happy if we signed the lad. He's better than what we've got right now and will be a star in the future. I'm pretty confident he will be better value than Glen Johnson at £17m, that's for sure.
-
I flicked between the two. Pearce picked a woeful team with no balance and no ideas. Frightening that him and Steve Wigley are coaching the future talents of our game.

Honestly amazes me how much money teams like Milan and Madrid waste by always buying players only once they are established elsewhere. With the resources they have those kind of clubs should have the best scouting networks around and be able to pick up 300k gems of their own but instead are totally bloody inept. No wonder they needed to sell Kaka.
-
No, but there's been rumours we will do so. I've never seen him play much tbh but I'm not keen on signing him regardless of how good he is. From his comments in the press he's a total mercenary w***** that I'd rather not have at the club.
