  1. I don't think I could bring myself to hate him, but would leave a sour taste I agree. He could do with remembering that no other club wanted to gamble on him when he had scored 6 or so goals in La Liga the previous season, where were Liverpool then? Obviously we all know that football is a selfish sport and you don't get to the top without having an element of that about you, but if it's true that he's stropped to force a move, that's extremely disappointing tbh.
  2. You're forgetting the golden rule of Luke Edwards: If he's reporting good news it's almost definitely false, if he's reporting bad news it's almost definitely false.
  3. Feels like a situation Steve Bruce will be an expert in, maybe it's time to bring him home
  4. To be fair, he could well have asked to leave at the start of the window, and this is now his final attempt to force it through. If this goes through, I'd be absolutely floored if we didn't expect it to be a very strong possibility at the start of the window.
  5. Can anyone put a compilation of all his one-on-one chokes together so I can feel something?
  6. It's a delicate one though, as by forcing him to stay you run the risk of (a) affecting other players in the squad, and (b) putting off new signings who may see the club as a stepping stone. We're also not really in a position squad-wise where we can afford to have the best striker in the league either refusing to play or going through the motions on the pitch. I think he'll go for around £125m if an offer of that magnitude comes in.
  7. Literally any of the teams that don't play by the rules could find a way to make the deal happen, to be honest.
  8. It may very well turn out to be correct, but there's no doubt in my mind that Hope is just reading between the lines like the rest of us.
  9. "If" this isn't just a coincidental injury and there's something in this, we need a deadline on any sale. It needs to be within the next week really. Would be an absolute shambles if we sell him late in the window and find ourselves desperately scrambling for a striker.

I for one didn't see any twists coming in this transfer saga

A bit of an odd one in that he's an entirely different profile to our other targets this window - definitely feels like a stop-gap in a lot of ways. I do like him as a player though and he caused us problems last season. Just get this done and move on to sorting a CB out asap.
  12. Don't worry, that's the last you'll see of Mike
  13. At this stage I find it hard to understand the perspective of laying into people who are worried by the lack of movement. If we hadn't had three barren transfer windows prior to this one, I could get behind it more, but the squad clearly needs a lot of work and the weeks will quickly pass by. With a champions league campaign ahead of us and a thin and somewhat aging squad, we have more work to do than most clubs in the league; so while other clubs have been quite static too, most of them can afford to be while we really can't. The frustration is understandable IMO.
  14. I don't know what the case was, social media isn't a great source of what's actually happening behind the scenes. The fact is though, our list of targets that we've seemingly been chasing since Keegan was in charge is getting shorter and shorter, and the frustration from fans is understandable at this point given the amount of work that genuinely needs doing with the squad, from a recruitment team that seem to still be on one of Mike Ashley's zero hour contracts working 12 hours a week. We did good work with Elanga, but he alone isn't nearly enough and it feels to me like this window is in serious danger of getting away from us again.
  15. I guess the issue is that we've allowed them almost infinite time to make the decision on whether they need/want to sign him. No decision had been made on their other goalkeepers earlier in the window, so we could've moved then and at least forced a decision.
  16. That Pope error was funny as fuck like, glad I caught the match just for that. Bet Isak's gutted he missed it, the Scouse prick.
  17. He's done the footballing equivalent of that cheating couple at the Coldplay gig and put a spotlight on the whole affair, none of this conversation would be happening if he'd just said "he's got a bit of flu".
  18. Notice he didn't clarify whether or not they'd send him back home once they got there though, classic Howe.
  19. Have we considered that witnessing Gordon's headband in person may have tipped him over the edge?
  20. Would that still be the case if Brentford's manager said Wissa travelled with the team then by mutual decision went home, due to the speculation surrounding him? In context, the quotes are odd.
