  1. Well I just can't be bothered to play your game of name a striker. But if you think that we can't get a foreign striker for 25M who has done more than Carroll overall as a replacement, then you're the one who is quite daft or you must think that Carroll is some sort of Drogba, actually that would make you daft too, so ya you're just being daft period. Bye now It's not just about who could replace Carroll for £25m, but who would be willing to come here AND who could replace him as an iconic Newcastle #9 AND be willing to fit into our wage structure, which narrows the field considerably...
  2. Really good interview that - Jigsaw was one of my first Toon "heroes" along with Rob Lee. Great to see he's doing well, and I'd be delighted if he came back to manage us one day (assuming he continues his upward progression)
  3. It might have been mentioned. In fact, I think someone might even have something related in their sig, in bold red font! not on this page and it's about all i've looked at. See Dr Venkman, reply 1114, page 38. He was banging on about it so much he made it his sig (hence my mirth)
  4. It might have been mentioned. In fact, I think someone might even have something related in their sig, in bold red font! EDIT: See Dr Venkman
  5. You know Wearside is going to post that on RTG as "evidence" about "mag delusion", right? £20 million more than Cronaldo? Better to say "Not for sale" than come out with this guff

    Sunderland...

    Two points from seven games...?
  7. It's not so much lack of athletic legacy as they'll be redeveloping the Crystal Palace athletic park. I think a big part of the resentment regarding Spurs' proposal (apart from geography which you mentioned) is the colossal waste of demolishing a brand new stadium to build a brand new stadium. In this era of environmentalism, does the Spurs bid contain even a fig leaf re recycling building materials et al?
  8. David Carney, a left winger who can't get a game at Blackpool, is our only "left back", and it showed in that goal...
  9. Israel aren't European, either. Saying that, we're geographically closer to Asia than Oceania (ie closer to East Timor and Indonesia than New Zealand) Disappointed by the result but I have to say I'm glad our long ball rubbish was shown to be ineffective when it came to the crunch. We have some ball playing individuals; let's play real football and not BSA style kick and rush!
  10. What goes around comes around! Hope he has to stay at City and sit on the bench. Serves him right! Fuck him
  11. That ignores the fact that Aguerro has been a top drawer striker for four years whereas AC9 has been doing the do for less than a quarter of that time - and that's just experience (ie before you even begin talking about their relative talents) EDIT: that's not to say I think we should sell Carroll for £25m or even £40m - just pointing out that comparing transfer fees, especially a domestic one to an international one, is fundamentally flawed

    Sebastian Larsson

That answers that, then! Made the mistake of going off the thread title...

    Sebastian Larsson

If the issue was Larsson's wage demands, why would we increase our bid to Brum?
  14. Depends what your definition of "success" is, but Sydney's Olympic Stadium (renamed Telstra Stadium) is still used for a variety of events. After the Games it was reduced from 110,000 to 85,000, but I wouldn't describe that as "massive reconstruction" as those extra 25,000 seats were designed as temporary Olympic seating that were always going to be removed after the Games...
  15. He came back to Australia some five years ago as captain of Melbourne Victory - a collection of thugs coached by a Scottish wanker by the name of Ernie "he's not that type of player" Merrick. Two championships have validated this thuggish style and added to the stereotype of Australian football being brutally physical...
  16. www.theworldgame.com.au/news/1042177/Eight-weeks-for-Muscat Kevin Muscat banned for eight matches for his horror tackle - the season has a maximum of seven weeks remaining so it effectively ends his domestic season. Melbourne Victory are involved in the Asian Champions League, so unfortunately this dog's career isn't over quite yet. We'll never see him in the A-League again though...
  17. Doesn't that describe someone like... Alan Smith? Hard working grafters lacking the talent of top drawer players will only take you so far. You also made the point saying that playing Ireland in the hole is a flawed notion because it would take away Nolan's effectiveness - but isn't is the case that Nolan has only scored three of his goals when playing off the striker with the rest coming when he played in a conventional centre midfield role? Yes, signing Ireland has risks attached, but as we don't appear to be signing a striker this window, isn't the next best option to sign a number 10?
  18. The problem with that is that players under 21 don't have to be included in that 25 man squad, thus having zero effect on the problem of "hoovering up" talent
  19. Difference between saying someone is attractive and having a "cracking rack". The Sisterhood would describe the latter as "objectification".
  20. It wasn't that long ago that you couldn't loan to players in the same division. I don't know why it changed because you're right - it is a mockery...
  21. First game back from that suspension - there comes a point where "mistimed" becomes a sick joke
  22. Being described as the worst tackle in A-League history. Melbourne Victory fans finally turning on this cunt and his apologist dog of a manager Ernie Merrick. So called hard man who is a coward and a butcher. Very real chance of being banned for the rest of the season, which at 37 could effectively be a life ban. Result for the game but scant consolation for poor Zahra...
  23. I wept like a little girl when Uruguay crushed Australia 3-0 in 2001. THE worst I have ever felt about football. Not helped by the fact I was watching the game at the home of a Boer mate whose Dad says "You're taking it too seriously". Tears welled as I sat alone in my living room watching the insipid performance at Villa Park - I honestly thought we would stay up, my state of denial was exploded...
