Other clubs' transfer deadline day discussion

You pleased with that? I really can't make up my mind about him really. I think he's done a very good job there all things considered. Be a big step back if he went, Shirley? I think he's done a good job yeah, just doubt he'd be able to take Everton to the next level. Bit shit him not getting transfer funds though. He did well last season, has built a decent squad, got them into Europe and all that on a limited budget (iirc). -

Cringe every time he pronounces a word in a kind of tentative american accent.

Maybe we should have gone for Rhain Davis then, eh. More technical ability than Smith. blueyes.gif

Bojinov was less than we're paying for Smith, basically direct replacement for Dyer, young and actually got some talent. And yeah he's a sexy player, but still a better player than Smith.

Gemmill's going to start the body count soon, like. I like how he even put DEFENDERS in capitals at the end. I went through it all last night, but for those that weren't listening: Allardyce has identified the targets he needs to get in for the defence, and he has the money to purchase them. With the sale of Dyer he feels he is now a player short in that area, so uses those funds to replace him. There has been no change to his targets for defenders, because the ones he's identified are still the ones he wants, and there is therefore no reason for him to suddenly think "Wow I've got some extra money. I'll buy some defenders I didn't previously think I needed." That's the last time I'm giving this talk. Still a shit replacement for Dyer. Must be better about than Alan Smith, specially for 6m ffs.

Shot to pieces. I underestimated N-O's intellectual debate. Sorry

Although I buy that, I have a different take on things after all we always sign the midfielders/strikers we want. I reckon our joke defence actually puts off defensive signings - joining could easily make a player part of a joke defence, destroying his career. Thus to get better defenders, we may need to first show in this forthcoming season that we are better defensively. How are we going to do that without better defenders?
-
Even if he does feel we need to spend that much on a midfielder and a striker, there's got to be better options for £6m, and even cheaper than that, than Alan f*cking Smith. I agree, it's just a shit bit of business on so many levels.

10 pages before midnight.

Apparently going to Fulham, I agree though. He's good player.
-
Paul Scharner. He's always looked a good player in the AM. Could be a good option if there's little money. Schraner for 2-3m then spend the rest of the Dyer money on the defence imo.

I'd like someone who actually gets a few goals. Damien Francis

I think his name is Frank Waife Danquah, not sure of his age but I think he's about 19... d.o.b 4/10/89 iirc. Woosh What you wooshing at? You got whooshed home gurl.
-
Innit. Is he winging or in the centre then?

Don't think he's any better than Barton. And for a squad player I think 6m is a bit steep. Could be a good away from home player. Maybe play Smith and Barton in the middle rather than a creator. Just think it's a bit of a pointless signing with Barton and Butt here, as well as a decent choice of strikers.
