Yep - I'd opt for that. With the additions of Ireland & HBA we've now got the best bullets we've had in ages but a less reliable choice of guns to fire them. New couple of guns in the summer and we're arguably stronger.

At the time, I didn't doubt the intentions of that board and felt they wanted the best for the club. The area was on a high, the club flying, atmosphere electric and we were only going in one direction. My attitude then was 'we'll have done it for the right reasons and he'll be replaced with an awesome player'. Cole was an unbelievable asset but he never claimed to be the local hero. The Carroll sale is a great fee, no doubt about it for a lad with massive potental/minimal experience. Build in his personal problems/unstable personality and he's a big gamble. I just wished the current board were straight with us. It smacks of Anelka leaving Arsenal but we don't have a Wenger, nor a long term view on developing youth in the same way Arsenal clearly do. If Ashley did have - I'd accept the argument that we'll invest say £15m into the youth set up/signing kids with potential and £20m on the first team as being for the greater good. Mute argument though.

Didn't Wolves get O'Hara in the end?

ahyes, the "rooney" tactic resurfaces. rubbish then aswell Why would Redknapp deny all knowledge of a bid when NUFC have publicized rejecting one? And why didn't NUFC (at the appropriate level) issue a statement confirming he wasn't for sale instead of undermining the fucknut they'd just given a 5.5 year contract to manage, who quite clearly didn't have a fucking clue all window? SWP, N'Zogbia, Puncheon - really, honestly? Give me strength.
-
is it not possible to sell a player who hadn't submitted a transfer request ? It is if you're prepared to pay him to go on his merry way, and with a 5 year contract that's a hefty golden goodbye -
-
That's the way the world works though. Whether you are Andy Carroll or Fernado Torres. It is. So why bother with the transfer request charade?
-
They are being made public at 9am tomorrow. They'll get pulled. No way he'll get the chance to publicise them.
-
Why do you think the Tottenham bid rumours surfaced all through January? To draw out other interested parties. It was always NUFC's intention to sell him this month. Dark forces at work.
-
Will be meeting with NUFC PR Advisors now about how to handle this. After shagging someone else's wife/dog/cat/gran. I don't think NUFC have any PR Advisors. If they do they're fucking terrible. Yep - they appointed a female head of PR last year, I'm sure. Did you smash it? Wouldn't smash it with Richard Key's' from memory.
-
Why? He's a protected species man. 5.5 years of income just for letting Mike pull his strings. Happy days. He knew what he was coming to.

And they won't have the nuts to publicise them for fear of being blacklisted. Which is why our campaign will publicise ALL details. Have you seen the texts?

Or someone with an anti-ashley agenda (Daily Mail or such like).

Andy Reid Jason Puncheon James Beattie and a fella from a Russian Team whose name I can't recall.

Need to wrap this bugger in cotton wool for the next four months.
-
Then he should resign if he doesn't want to be complicit. Honourable men like Kevin Keegan do that (and get slated for it), not snakes in the grass like Alan Pardew. Spineless worm. His lack of integrity is absolutely unquestionable. He was entirely complicit in CH's dismissal. Of course, he's never going to throw his toys out of the pram. We're the biggest club he'll ever get close to managing. The whole world knows that.
-
Yep. According to Bobby, they didn't tell Shearer till after it had been turned down. Shearer knew because he was approached by a well known geordie member of staff within LFC many months before. The terms were agreed with Shearer and, if the bid was approved, he'd have been signed and sealed within hours.
-
C'Mon man.............this is the fucktard who wouldn't deny links to David Beckham in early Jan. He's always been Ashleys yes man - he'll be told who he's buying and who he's selling and in the interim he's their mouthpiece. Stevie fucking Wonder can see that.
-
True - I felt we should have let him go personally. I knew about it, at the time, for a while. Liverpool, under Houllier, chased a young Steven Taylor for big bucks but NUFC would never sell.
-
Can't argue with that, the fact that he turned down a lifetime of adoration and hero-worship is what makes it even harder to take. Ask Alan Shearer whether wearing the number 9 for NUFC means more than any amount of trophies and any amount of money. The same Alan Shearer who was prepared to move to Liverpool too? When? Iirc Liverpool bid £5 million for him, Bobby thought it was a cracking deal, but Freddy vetoed it. I know for a fact (family friends with the late Jack Hixon) that the offer was £3m, highest earner at LFC and he was desperate to go. Both were prepared to sell and then Freddy changed his mind.
-
cud be the most expensive 35 million ever, if it goes tits up. And not unthinkable CP, either. The lads a talent but there are still many question marks over him and he's a huge gamble at £35m. ok agreed. my point i made badly was if it goes tits up for us that 35 million will look a bit shit. True too. See it both ways.

Agree with this but I feel there's a lot more to this deal than meets the eye.
