People put way too much stock into effort and passion at times. Yes, like everyone, I don’t like to see lazy players, but if Gordon’s fundamental output, in terms of assists and goals was higher, I don’t think people would be caring quite as much. That’s why I hate the ‘distance covered’ stat, as it says very little about a player’s contribution to a game. Bruno can be having an absolute howler of a game, but as long as he fist pumps to the crowd a few times then all seems to be forgiven. p.s Gordon has been rotten this year, I ain’t giving him a free pass
