Guthrie ran the show away to Stoke last season, the sort of game people like to see Tiote play in. Ialso remember Guthrie about two or three seasons back single handedly losing us a game at West Brom, after that game I never wanted to see that guy in a NUFC shirt again. People have very short and selective memories when the argument suits them to.

it'll be interesting to see if Swansea and Wigan can cope with the extra demand the EL puts in a squad better than Newcastle United did this serason. That could be a factor in Laudrup wanting to get out if he did in the summer.

I hate playoffs in all UK sports where, everyone plays everyone else home and away and equal number of times. Playoffs make sense in american spots such as the NFL, where the 32 teams play 16 games in the regular season, obviously there is no way to determine who is the strongest team as their records are determined by their schedules. Even in baseball's ridiculous 100 plus game season, all teams do not share the same strength of schedule. When everyone plays everyone else once at home and once away, then the team coming out on top of the table is clearly the best team in the league and deserves the title. For an example of the ridiculousness of a playoff system look no further than the Newcastle Falcons (that a rugby team for Mike ) Who have finished top of the "championship" by 25 points, winning all but their last game of the season, but now have to face a playoff to determine if they get promoted back to the premiership, the whole season will be a write off if they don't win the next couple of games. Stupid really they proved to be the best team over the course of a long hard season now a bad refereeing decision or some tough luck could send a vastly inferior team up in their place.

Laudrup would be my first choice and I believe he is gettable, but this season's struggle has certainly hurt our reputation and therefore pulling power. I voted Moyes, though I don't think he would be interested. It's a bit of a pointless poll though as barring some kind of miracle (Ashley actually realising what Pardew is or Pardew leaving on his own) then there will be no change in management no matter which division we are playing in.

I know it's crazy, but I know I'll still end up wanting Villa to beat Sunderland. If we beat Liverpool, so will I.
-
I think 40 pts will put us safe, one more win or 3 draws. That would mean villa winning 2 of four and pulling back 10 goals on us to overtake and Wigan winning 3 of 5 and pulling back 7 goals on us to overtake. I just don't see both those situations happening along with all the other teams on 37/38 points staying ahead of us. Beat Liverpool on Saturday and we can start to relax a little. If Suarez is suspended, I think there is a good chance of that happening now, a loss though in that game and I think it's a 3 horse race for that last spot.

QPR's loss today could work both ways for us, they are virtually down now, they know that that was a game they had to win today, in their minds now surely they are down and all they have to play for is try not to finish bottom. That could make our game a little easier against them or it could have the reverse effect of freeing them from all the pressure.

having had a little time to reflect on things, I'm not as despondent I was. Still not happy being 16th in the PL of course but, this point and Wigan's loss could be absolutely huge for us. If villa get something at Manure, then I might change my mood fully back to blind panic. We really are so reliant on Wigan's hectic fixture list rather than anything we do, couple that with Villa's tough run in might mean that if we can just pick up 1 or 2 more points from our last few games we will probably be safe, not that that should be anywhere near acceptable obviously.

Huge game tomorrow for us villa at manure, hate the cunts but gonna be Manure's biggest fan tomorrow

I know wigan have lost today and we got a point, but if wigan get anything in their next game at home to Spuds, they have three very winnable games remaining, Swansea at home west brom away and of course the villa home game. What we desperately need apart from of course winning a game ourselves (qpr away being our best chance) is for villa to still be behind us along with wigan come the last day of the season. Squeaky bum time.
-
16th is just not acceptable really.
-
We need to win these games really. Disappointed with that.
-
If we hang on, this could be a huge point in the scheme of things but feels like a loss and the other results bar Wigan's could not have gone worse, and the table looks horrible right now.
-
We just can't win away from home. Table looks worrying, fucking goal difference.
-
Kevin Nolan just scored one of his most important goals for newcastle there.
-
Stoke 2 up sunder land and Norwich still winning fortunately wigan still losing but apparently well on top in their game.
-
He's happy with the point.
-
Wow the live table right now is scary stuff, down to 16th if wigan turn things round we are fucked IMO.
-
Bollocks we have better players than brim and just as fit we should be winning games like these with ease not losing them which we will be in a matter of minutes.
-
Everyone else bar wigan winning we are really in deep shit now.
-
There you go. Offs only ourselves to blame for not having a bigger lead at half time.
-
This is just awful right now.
-
Matter of time here.

Even when it comes off Elliot looks horrible.
