OK explain to me clearly how this is deluded, read the first line, THIS IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT PLAYER VALUES. Thresholds of where it becomes silly money is more accurate a discription.
-
Surely you should be putting the minimum values you would accept though right? You would have saved 2 pages of pisstaking if you had simply thought about this first I'm used to the pisstaking tbh, doesn't bother me, people never read though. I purposely didn't want to put up a value of players type thread, just thresholds that would be no brainers to accept, some are a little high, but I purposely did that to stimulate debate and also point out that those are players I would be most reluctant to let go of.

NOT PLAYER ESTIMATES FFS !! Routledge's probably been our best player over the second half of the season, not that many natural right wingers out there, he's English, has fit in well with the team, question marks on whether he can do it at level, but he's not a player that we could easily replace. Hence 10 million, snatch someone's hands off, 7 million we have to think about it. Forster has come on leaps and bounds, if you've seen some of his performances for Norwich this season, he's been excellent. I watched the highlights of the Charlton game the other day, the lad was awesome, could have been about 5 - 1 loss rather than a 1-0 win. There are a few teams rumoured to be looking at him. He's English, still very young, seems like a good character, we are in no rush to sell him. 10 Million though would be a no brainer, 5 million probably would have you thinking too. Carroll, there would be more than one bidder for Carrol at 10 million without a doubt, Chopra cost Sunderland 5 million a few years back and does not have a fraction of the potential Carrol has nor does he have the physical size that a lot of teams look for to compliment smaller strikers. There's a buzz in the game about this kid, even the england manager is keeping an eye on him for the future. Compare him to Milner, we got 12 million for a player that showed very limited potential, Carroll shows much more and plays up front. 20 Million is no brainer for me, 15 million has you thinking.
-
But you'ld happily accept accept 1p and a packet of superkings for him though wouldn't you ? So that's your threshold.
-
Sorry I obviously meant Williamson, getting my willies muddled up
-
Again, this was not in any shape or form meant to be estimates on player value, it's about a threshold that we have to take the money, even if we want to keep the player, because the offer is silly money. For example I'm not saying for a second that Carroll is worth 20 mill or Jose 25 million, but if someone ponies up that amount, it's a no brainer to take it.

Finding it a little confusing the response so far, it's a legit topic, purely speculation, thought I would try to liven up this dead board at the moment, guess that's not really appreciated, sorry for wasting your time clicking on the subject, thought there might have been some debate here, every player has a price we could be tempted to sell him for.

This is not a thread about perceived value of players, I repeat this is not an estimated value of players thread. What kind of bid do you think should be accepted for our current players assuming someone ponies up the lolly? Factor in potential, resale value, off the field issues, squad depth, injury records and the ability to replace the player. Here’s my list: GK Harper – 5 million Krul – 7.5 million Forster – 10 million Def R.Taylor – 2 million Simpson – 3 million Enrique – 25 million S Taylor – 15 Million Collocini – 15 million Williamson - 8 million Kadar – 8 million Mid Barton – 3 million Smith – 2 million Guthrie – 12 million Jonas – 15 million Routledge – 10 million Nolan – 5 million Fwd Shola – 3 million Loven – 3 million Best – 1 million Carroll – 20 million

So what happened to the tax dodging case then ? Obviously he didn't get sent down for it. I hate this man, I really do, and it's just been made doubly worse by the great job he's doing a spuds
-
I would imagine there is some contractual reason why puma can't show a shirt with a Newcastle United logo on it until the current shirt deal with Adidas is complete, which I presume is after the last game of the season, or the end of May.
-
Unfortunately spuds are way out of our league right now, I hate them and especially hate Redknapp, but you've got to hand it to them, they ran their club very well, spending money in the transfer market but at the same time, selling at good prices. Redknapp has done a great job in pulling it altogther, they've even started to beat the better teams now, if they make the CL it'll be richly deserved, unfortunately.

Yeah the TV coverage for us not living in the UK, will improve, I'm hoping Setanta Canada sticks around for next year, they show every PL game in full at some point. Every weekend too we have at least 5 games live, shown through the 3 channels who cover them. Newcastle being the big draw in the CCC, we've been on a lot compared to others but it's nowhere near the coverage we had the previous season.
-
A win tonight qwould put us 20 points ahead of Forest, strange now to think we were worried about them at one time.
-
True, Ipswich, is one of the few exceptions, but now promotion is secured, we should be able to go out there and enjoy ourselves, no reason why not.
-
LOL, I forgot we were playing tonight, win tonight and we are champs IMO, no way brom are going to go the remainder of the season perfect, I can actually see them easing up a little now they've secured promotion and even if they did win their last 3, can't see us not winning at least one of our last four and they would have a lot of ground to make up on GD. Reading still have a slim chance of making the playoffs, and have been in good form since changing their manager, so it's no gimme for sure. Having said that if we perform well, we'll win it, no matter what Reading do.
-
So no sign of the new kit then ? I doubt we'll be wearing it in the last game of the season like we have in the past, as I doubt Addidas would alow that.
-
I hope they do not even consider this. We've achived nothing, we've just regained our prem status (which we should never of lost in the first). Call that arrogant or stuck up, but we should be pleased with what has been achieve, a suitbale party type celebration, and hopefully trophy presentation to take place on the pitch for the Ipswich game, then move on. No civic receptions, no open top bus tours please.
-
I always cringe when I read players, suggesting that we should feel sorry for them for having to endure time at Newcastle United. The poor boy, having to pick up 50 grand a week, the lack of any form shown was purely down to having to play for us.
-
Got to agree tih this. The Taylor bashing is starting to get a little tiresome, and unwarranted.
-
It's good to be realistic and not expect more than what can be achieved, but we have got to be careful at the same time to not lower our expectations too low to drag ourselves down to a level that we can comfortably better. There is nothing at all to be frightened of in the bottom half of the PL. We weren't frightened at all by them only last year, we went down through our own self distruction, not because our squad was not strong enough to stay up. Brum and Stoke over the last couple of seasons are prime examples of clubs that can bridge the gap between top on the CCC and mid table in the Prem. Neither of those sides nor any around them have players we should be intimidated by. Some wise investment, good management, a commited and collective group of players and we should be fine.
-
This is going to be a tough game. Blackpool playing really well of late, pushing hard for the playoffs. Hope we don't give up our first and only double of the season. Gonna go with 1-1.
-
Without SJH, we would never have had the KK years, we would still be run by local small minded "businessmen" who had neither the clout nor the gumption to get us back to a level the support deserved. He did a lot for this club, people tend to forget that, he took a lot out admitedly but I don't begrudge him that, he gambled and it paid off. He wanted out for a long time and sold to someone, we all thought at the time was the perfect guy. His son on the other hand sullied the family name. I hope his remaining time is peaceful.
-
I still remember his first game for us, against the mighty Yeading in the cup. I recall people on this very board, saying how good he look and how excitied they were by him, but in reality, he looked dodgy as hell against a non league club. He was a disaster of a CB, an awful signing, even time can not dull the memories of how bad he was.
-
He'll get a few runs out in the last 5 games for sure.
-
Hahahaha, I love that kid in yellows expression. 'NAAAR!' and the portly 'say whaaaaat!?!' bald man. The fat guy looks like he's just about to let out a bit of wind, I'm not quite sure what the lad in the yellow's parents were thinking of when they didn't get his ears pinned back as a child
