  1. So I take it , that's a no then ?
  2. What are your expectations right now for the season gol ? I think we'll hover just above the relegation places. I'd prefer Ashley to stay, and carry on with his plans for the club. In my opinion his one mistake was putting the wrong man in in the first place, but I said as much at the time. Hasn't he made his position untenable though, with that statement, how's he going to get a manager to work for him, right now ? Yep, he has now. But in the same way, the fans demonstrating have devalued the club, to both buyers and managers. I really can't see how we get out of this one. Unfortunately neither can I, but I'm a miserable old pessimistic bastard, what's your excuse ?

  5. Why is it dumb, if you were old enough to remember the dark days of the last time we were relegated, you'll recognise a lot of the signs are there, a club that has absolutely no stability from top to bottom is a club in serious danager. You're right it's very early days, and perhaps that's one thing in our favour but at this moment in time I'd take the bird in the hand over the ones that may be in the bush. I could name 4 or 5 teams who would glady take 17th spot right now and they are far more stable than ourselves at the moment.
  6. Thats basically how I feel. We've got nothing of worth to actually compete for, other than mid-table mediocrity at best, so 17th/12th doesn't really matter and the first garuntees we would stay up. Fuckin hell its 4 games in. All it would take at this stage is a 3 game win streak and you'd be up there. We've seen from our first couple of games that we can play so its not beyond the realms of possibility that we can have a respectable season. My opinion will of course be harder to justify the longer this situation drags out. I'm not saying you are wrong, but we had a "manager" in charge of us back then, someone capable of getting the best out of our players. Since then events have taken over. The signs for Saturday are not good tbh, Zola's first game in charge, injury striken, morale low, I think things will certainly get a lot worse before they get better, hopefully they get better soon enough to avoid disaster.
  7. This thread's really not about getting relegated, it's about whether our expectations should be for anything more than survival this season. I honestly don't think they can be under the present climate. As for spurs, they are in trouble very true, but IMO it's just down to the fact that they have the wrong man in charge. They don't have anywhere near as many problems off the field as we do. They'll probably not be relegated and results will likely start to pick up when their team has started to gel.
  8. We are I don't think anyone will argue with that. But as Chicago points out, football is more about the team and how it's managed than the individual players.
  9. The club has only been officially for sale for five days. We know from bitter recent experience that we haven't got a clue what is happening behind the scenes. Too early to write everything off. Very true, I have no idea and we haven't been up for sale for that long. I can't though shake the feeling that Ashley's not as keen to sell as he's making out and because of his statement that's not a good thing at all.
  10. That's the whole point of this thread, it's how you are feeling right now. At this moment in time I'm depressed as f*** about the club, I'm usually pessimistic but I'm even more so at the moment.
  11. No doubt we are better than that, but there are too many things wrong at the club right now to think anything more than survival should be the target. We are in a huge mess, I don't think the majority of fans fully appreciate how bad the situation currently is. The worst part is that there's not much light visible at the end of the tunnel.
  12. Owner doesn't what us anymore. No new buyer on the horizion. No manager, very few coaches. No really appealling prospects to take over. Discontent and division amongst the fans. Paper thin squad, lacking in morale. Long injury list. Injury prone players. At this moment in time, I'd snap his hands off.

    We lost a million ? I though it was 12 Mill ?
  14. This is always my fear when we are in transistion and why I prefer them to install a new guy with the minimum amount of dilly dallying. Obviously this time it's a little bit complicated by the uncertainty over the ownership of the club.

I've trimmed all of that. You're right about the owners, of course. YOu might also be right about Ashley, maybe he's always been something. Who knows. What really bothers me now, is that this season could turn out to be an absolute disaster. Ashley wanting the figure he's been quoted as wanting is nonsense, he'lll never get that. And as we struggle the price goes down, and if we get relegated, it will dive. He should take the best offer he can get as soon as he can. He lost his chance to restore stability, goodwill and a better prospects last week. I don''t care who the chairman/owner is, so long as he has the good of the club at heart, and understands that the whole heart of the football club begins with having quality players in the dressing room, and he has to back his chosen manager, and if you want to be like the other big clubs then you have to act like they do. Good post, I don't think you'll find any right-minded Newcastle United fan who will disagree with any of that. Fuck off Dave are you calling me not right-minded, I have a huge problem with this line, he clearly left in the previous quote from Elbee !!
  16. The man's not well enough, FFS. i kno ffs, i bet he would take it, my point was to show the high esteem, in which i regard him... Then why didn't you just says that then, instead of making a stupid comment ? Something along the lines of "I would love SBR to come if only his health was up to the job". Just a thought.
  17. The man's not well enough, FFS. He's a geordie though. OK then he'll do for me.
  18. I think Hughton will be in charge until Christmas at least, wouldn't be surprised to see him see out the season. No way. I'm being pessimistic in the extreme but I wouldn't discount it. Perhaps a experienced head may be brought in to assist Hughton, as the ronny gill alluded to, similar to what Boro did when Robson was struggling and they brought Vegtables in. But until the club is sold we'll most probably not have a permanent manager, and I'm not holding my breath that the club will be sold anytime soon.

    Alan Smith

It can actually because hopefully he'll be insured, we will be getting more value from him now he's injured, with the insurance company picking up part of his wages.
  21. I think he's an extremely lucky boy, and it's excellent news for us.
  22. ehh, he is statistically the best manager we ever had! Not in his second spell. oh, you only consider his record when he picks up the pieces from fat sam. Look centrepaddock, I've been as supportive as anyone on KK but I'm not blind enough to not see that things have not been perfect since he got here and that perhaps the KK of 10 years ago is a different beast to the KK now. Having said that up until a few days ago I thought getting KK back was still the best thing for this football club. Since events though have moved on I'm seriously rethinking that is the best, and a fresh start for a new owner (or most probably the current one) alonside a new manager is now what we need. I never doubted KK when he was with us either time, never once but I would be lying if I did not say that I thought we should have done a little better in some of the games he was in charge.

  24. I'm a huge KK fan, make no mistake about that, but I have to say those statistics are pretty damning, even taking into account the tough set of fixtures, results really haven't been impressive in the slightest.
