Canada can't afford it's own time zones, so it uses the US ones In Calagary we are on Mountain time which is 7hrs behind the UK. So a 3pm kick off is shown at 8am here if it's live this one is 5.15 I believe so that'll be 10.15 our time. Eastern time (new york, DC, Philly, Toronto and places like that) are 2 hrs ahead of us. Those wacky Calfornians are a further hour behind us.

Move to Canada, it's live on Setanta out here, if your freakin wife doesn't make you go to a stupid petting farm, because it's going to be a nice day and it the last chance to go before the kids go back to school, next week !!

Smith hatrick in a 3-0 win nailed on

Owen to Blackburn is more likely, from what I'm hearing from...well, OK, from mates in Blackburn. Would be perfect location for Owen though. What kind of crack are you're mates in Blackburn on ?

Taylor not recalled ?

Would you support Whitley over a PL team playing at SJP in black and white stripes, calling themselves Newcastle Nitros or something, having originally been located in lancashire ? Was with you all the way up until "Originally located in lancashire". I despise the whole relocation thing, so it would be really hard for me to accept that. So I'd probably stick with Whitley Bay and hope that someone started a home-grown Football Club United of Newcastle or so on. Failing that, I'd start it myself! Wouldn't it be hard though not to jump on the bandwagon, if the Nitros started playing great football winning trophies and the rest of the city had been taken in. After all you're a Newcastle lad, they are representing your city, the Geordie nation as it were, just because they started out some where else, does it mean we should be any less proud of them, would it not be hard to resist ? Just so you know, I'm playing devil's adovcate here I've resisted enough bandwagons in my time to not jump on the next one that passes. For me, supporting Newcastle has never been about winning trophies (Thank god), it's about supporting a team that you identify with. Your local team. The team your family supported. Of course, there'd come a point where this new Newcastle Nitros team would become more synonymous with Newcastle than with their previous Lancashire base but I think that point would take so long to arrive (ie years rather than weeks or months) that I'd be a hardened Whitley Bay supporter by then and there'd be no going back. That's certainly how I'd like to think it would happen, but of course you never can tell. Maybe I'd sneak in to a couple of matches to watch the Nitros beat the Mackems! Top quality response. Thank god we'll never have to worry about this scenario. I wonder if this though will happen somewhere else in the country. Leeds almost went but would they ever have fallen and could it happen to someone else, Man Shitty for example, or even the dirty Mackems ?

One of the two early bids ended up with the player signing for us yet you think it was irrelevant and they weren't tentative bids, one was a club record for a defender, the other would have been a club record for any player. As for who we went for after losing out on Modric, I'd guess Jonas came in instead of him rather than Guthrie. I like how Milner going to Villa under O'Neil has no connection to Villa and O'Neil bidding for a player 2 years ago, how do you work that one out? Was it a different Villa, O'Neil and Milner? I'm sure we have made mistakes during this window and I'm sure most other clubs have also made them. Mick you are just not listening, I don't know how NE5 has the patience to debate with you.

TBH I think they made a mistake in resting on their laurels this close season. Fergie should know better that, you just can't afford to stand still in this game. Chelsea have improve significantly both on and off the field with a decent manager. They were already not a million miles away last season. My question would be does Fergie have it in him, to fight back yet again ? I think he's ready for retirement personally just needs a push to send him there.

NUFC.com is a domain that really should be owned by the club, not two fans with often questionable and biased opinions. Compare that to eg: www.manutd.com www.chelseafc.com www.liverpoolfc.com www.arsenal.com etc etc. It's simply the case the .com is perceived to be more formal/official than a .co.uk or .net or any other extension, whilst the club is only ever going to have NUFC as the name of the site since that is logically what most of us who support the club would go for. Hence, NUFC.com should be the official club website. IMO they're simply taking advantage of having nabbed that web address first, which is fair enough, but with their increasingly biased bullshit opinions they're abusing that privileged position. I've made the point about their domain name for years, they were just in the right place at the right time. They generate huge hits from it, and of course they rake in the cash through their multitude of sponsors which allow them to finance the trips that prove they are soopafans. The general fans do see it as the official voice of NUFC fans more so than message boards like this, all because of their URL. Unfortunately NUFC isn't copyrighted by the club and hardly likely ever to be, while they hide behind the Newcastle Unnofical Fans Collaboration (I have no idea who they are actually collaborating with) bullshit then they are pretty safe. Two patronising arseholes IMO but I'll not deny they have a lot of talent at copy writing.

Laughable, you complain that we moved too slow then say the bids in April and May were irrelevant. One of the players we bid for is here the other isn't so at least one early bid was very relevant and the two bids are just two that we know of so how does anybody know we didn't make more bids around that time? Jesus wept, Milner has just gone to Villa 2 years after they first bid for him, Michael Owen was chased by us for many months, I could go on but you'll not see it anyway so I don't see the point. They are irrelevant though if you don't follow them through to close or move onto your back up plan faster. Putting out some tentaive bids is not moving fast, it's what most if not all clubs do at the end of every season. Moving early is converting these bids to deals. We've failed to do that, lessons will need to be learned from this transfer window because if you think they planned to be where we are now then you are a buffoon, they've made mistakes accept it and move on. Where's the alternative to this much vaunted bid for Modric ? Is it Guthrie, because if it is and despite how well he's done, I'm severly underwhellemed! Unbelieveable you truely believe the bids of 4.5 mill or whatever Villa made for Milner 2 years ago is the same deal as the 12 Million one now. There is zero connection between them FFS. Villa had a bid accepted for Milner between Thurs and Friday Morning and was confirmed by early Friday afternoon. That's how these things can move if you are determined enough to make them happen.

Still happy if we don't manage to bring anyone in ?
-
I fucking don't know, but the squad according to that list has 19 people, if my maths is correct we need 18 to fill the bench !!

We bid for Modric in late April and we had a bid in for Coloccini in May, both bids were in well before the window had even opened so I don't see how we started too late. With regards to Coloccini we know a fee was agreed and an offer accepted by the player, what more could we do? Do you think we should have agreed a fee and contract then just randomly threw more money at both? I agree that we need more players in and hope for quality but sometimes we have to move at the pace of others and it was the same last year when we brought in Faye and Beye, the first was because his club wanted to keep him, the second because the player didn't want to move at first. Honestly Mick you seem so intent on defending the current regime to validate your old arguments with NE5, that you are unwilling to accept any criticism directed to them. Making bids in April and May is irrelevant if you don't get the bloody deals done. We moved too late, too slowly and are playing catch up. That's all that needs to be said really and I don't see how you can argue with that.

Good on Mr Moore tbh, if this wasn't the case we would be taking as gospel every word that Louise Taylor and Martin Samuel say. Nothing wrong with thinking a little bit about the message you are being told.

Why he seemed happy to sign for a team propping up the PL ?
-
He'll flop. Money on the table. Its like Rebrov never happened for them. I might be way off the mark but I can see him failing in the same way I haven't really seen enough of the lad to make a educated judgement on him but correct me if I'm wrong but most people's reservations were that although he gets a goal or two he misses a lot more chances. Well to me that makes spuds a perfect fit for him, if there is one thing you can guarentee is that they'll create chances with the players they've got. if they create 5 or 6 a game and he puts 1 or 2 of them away then I would take that if I were a spuds fan. I'll not be surprised if he gets 20 plus goals this year but like I said I haven't seen nearly enough of him, just based on what you lot are saying.

I would still have Arshavin here in a heartbeat. I'm not convinced he's beyond our reach either.

It took so long because the players club didn't want to sell the player and held out as long as they could, they only let Coloccini go after the players agent kicked off and threatened that the player would buy his contract out. We agreed a fee with the club and then they tried upping the fee after an initial agreement. All of this was played out in public with the players agent kicking off, I'm surprised that you appear to have missed it although it does make it easier to moan and knock the club if you dont acknowledge what actually happened. Once we agreed a fee and they agreed to sell him, it took us two - three weeks to get him here, it shouldn't take that long, the player was already, according to his own agent, happy to come. The only conclusion I can come up with for the delay is that we were trying to eek out the best possible deal with the player and the selling club, every last penny. That's fine if it works, but it's also likely to piss a few clubs and prospective players off to the point that they call the deals off. Mick, just face facts for once, we started off too late , we failed to build on the impetus of a couple of good signings and now we are in the shit, trying desperately to get out. If the deals come off and we get the players in then it'll all have worked out in the end. But at the moment we are playing russian roulette with our season. Look at the bench we put out at the Arse tomorrow and seriously tell me we are not !

Even Jon, is excited about it. If Jon seems happy, why am I still waiting to see if this is a good deal or not ? I must be off me tits !
-
The speed of the Coloccini transfer shows the opposite, it took months to get him in. Exactly and why did it ? What was the delay, we never found out in the end. Mick, it's not rocket science, it's not multi-national takeovers, it's purchasing assests from other players in the market. I can't believe you keep spouting the same crap about these deals being so complicated, they are not if you approach them in the right manner and negoiate in the correct way. The club moved too slowly this summer and are doing an almighty job at playing catch up right now, I don't know how you can not see that. I dare say under a previous regime you might not be as understanding.

This sell on clause thing been confirmed officially or not ? Read a few posts on 606 and they reckon he's a world beater, couple of toon supporters virtually in tears. Leeds fan saying they've gor 35% sell on clause ? What's the world coming to ?
