Whichever way you try to spin it, the cool hard facts are that we've got a squad of players that lacks numbers greatly (even KK admits it), with a huge drop off in quality outside the first 11. Well if it's that easy and that much better to do deals before the season starts, why haven't these clubs got their long-term targets yet? Great thread, nice lively debate. I don't know see anyone picking up on this but I think Skelator's theory is pretty interesting and something I have thought about a bit. I just hope something gives before midnight on Monday. In regards to the OP, I think most people know my feelings on this, I think underwhelmed is the best way to describe my feeling’s thus far about Ashley’s stewardship. We could be on the brink of a very exciting season but that could be undone if we don’t buy 2 to 3 quality players in positions we need before the end of the month. It’s looking increasingly unlikely and that’s the part I am most frustrated with and find it hard to excuse the owner for (if Skelator is right then maybe I’m directing my frustration at the wrong person?).

That sounds about right for them but they keep calling us deluded, it's pure comedy. Seriously they need to manage their own expectation better, they could be in huge danger of putting too much pressure on a squad of players that doesn't seem the type that you would want next to you in the trenches. They will be going to places like Villa, Everton, us and ManShitty expecting to get a result, they'll also expect to win the bulk of their home games.

Bloody hell , they aren't even kidding, they seem to think they're midfield are world beaters, and there's not much between the two teams, one poster said owen was finished, another ranked Colo only .5 better than Nosworthy or Ferdinand. Don't get me wrong, I think they've improved but bloody hell somehow they are going to be seriously dissapointed at the end of the season because they'll never live up to the expectations they have. A realistic target for them is 11th, but with their "world class" midfield they seem to think they are a match for anyone outside the top 4. And of course, we are the deluded ones. Oh and one poster said that they had more "paying" fans than us for the first home game of the season.
