    Thick as mince

I got to page 2 and loved this one
  2. How long have you been supporting NUFC ??
  3. They play kids. Ours are injured too. Ranger? Zamblera? Donaldson? Danquah? It's a freak situation that we will have to get through, I doubt there are many Premiership clubs with as many first team strikers as us. The thing is it's not too freakish, when you take into account the injury records of our forwards.

    The PANIC! Thread

That's the crux of it, even KK is far from certain that we'll get the players in. If he's concerned, I think we have every right to be too.

    The PANIC! Thread

You are kidding aren't you. 5 days to go. After 3 games the squad is already showing signs of stress. We simply can not get through a full season (or even half of one) with the numbers and lack of strength in depth that we have. We've done fabulously so far, in the games we've played but don't let that fool you into thinking that the work on the squad is done, because it far from is and what's most worrying is that the messaging coming out of KK are far from positive in terms of getting in the extra quality players we need. Yeah nothing to be worried about at all.
  6. The thing is wasn't Jonas thought to be a RW, so why not move him over there and play zog at LW, back ups for both players could be Geremi and Duff. The problem is we are short up front, because of injuries and heavily relient on Guthrie and Duff in the centre, when Barton becomes available again that'll ease some pressure. To me it still leaves us short a Striker and Central Midfielder, another defender at the moment I would consider a bonus.

    The PANIC! Thread

Yes by then you be able to properly judge Mike Ashley and say where we made mistakes, and could have done things differently. Of course there won't be anyway of fixings things by then, but it's only fair to not express any concern until the window is closed. zaza.
  8. Personally I would plump for Larrson but wouldn't be adverse to spening the money elsewhere.
  9. I read today 50k, which would be about £37k. Which is not that excessive for Sunderland to pay to attract him from London... Why would they quote in Euros ? I know the dirty mackems backers are Irish but that would be ridiculous, it's a domestic transfer and Sunderland a a UK registerd company. I think where ever you read that, it's wrong, probably have no clue how much they are paying him.
  10. I'm sorry but WTF are you talking about
  11. We are paying Smith 60K
  12. I think that's exactly what they are doing they want teams to bid for him. KK may not be happy about it but if they can get a bidding war going then obviously that'll push up the price. I think they'll pacify KK by saying if we don't get a bid in excess of XX amount then we'll not sell, but if we do we have to take the money for a player that doesn't want to be here.
  13. I grew up for a large chunk of my childhood in Spain, I am half Spanish, I used to watch Italian football reguarily when there was nothing but Songs of Praise on a sunday afternoon. And I can tell that neither league can hold a candle to the PL for me. The corruption in the Italian league over the last few years casts huge doubts over it's validity. If you want entertainment, you do what most of the footballing world does and watch the PL.
  14. May have had something to do with him knowing O'Nieil was in the crowd. It was a come get me performance from him, that much is clear now.
  15. I'm supid for having an opinion, go figure. You don't get it, do you? ARe you saying you agree with me then, if so sorry you are obviously a very intelligent man
  16. I'm supid for having an opinion, go figure.
  17. Can we have a thread about the up coming Bulgarian Premeirship, which I have about as much interest in as this dull and corrupt league.
  18. WUM I guess I should have added, "zaza" to the end of that post.
  19. Taken from the Journal KK quotes: “My optimism gets less the nearer that you get to the deadline. I’m still hoping that we’ll get a couple in, but if we don’t we’ll just have to soldier on,” he said. “I haven’t got enough players. I have lost five forwards and I’ve not got any people to come in. We had two teenagers on the bench tonight. I suppose that if we don’t get any new players, I’ll just have to wait for all of those strikers to come back.” http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/sundaysun/tm_headline=united-boss-desperate-for-signings%26method=full%26objectid=21613105%26siteid=61634-name_page.html Going public with this message is a clear indication that KK is trying to put pressure on the board to bring in some new faces. I thought tbh we were past that stage, I thought we were just finalising deals
  20. You're certainly not imagining it. If Milner leaves we need a replacement, but the other plans won't have changed a jot. For me, the KK comments are much more worrying. For me it's actually KK's quotes that have turned me into a ZOMGer ! I was sure up until reading them that the couple of players he was after were in the process of being finalised but I'm not so sure now. The Milner affair has absolutely no bearing on that.
  21. I would like to change my vote to "They won't"
  22. I'm really getting pissed off with people here. Everyone seems to have their own ideas of how good or bad Smith is but are not prepared to change it despite the evidence presented before them. Smith's contribution this season is far and above what he produced for the team last year, acknowledge this and give the lad some credit people !
  23. Absolutely. and how much are we forking out for our recruitment team? start earning it soon methinks!!!!!!!!!!! They've probably all earnt their wages with Gutierrez. what even when you consider how many players have left in the summer when we had a small squad already? Hold on to your seats its going to be a bumpy ride unless we get bodies in good ones preferred. They've saved us at least £5m on Jonas' asking price, and that is probably more than their yearly wage, hence they have earned their wages (if we are using a cost benefit analysis of course) we have spent around 20 million on jonas, colocini, bassong and guthrie, we spent the same on boumsong and luque complete contrast tbh Probably less than that tbh Jonas would have been 1-2mil in signing on payment as was Guthirie and Bassong in terms of transfer fee. Colo was 8 rising to 10.3 with addons So an outlay of about 12-13mil which could be almost wiped out with Milners sale Don't forget the other sales we made, Rozy and Emre combined 5 - 6 mill, I would have thought.
  24. Well this is a be of a shocker. I've got kind of mixed feelings about it, I have never been one of these Milner bashers but I feel we are still waiting for the player to reach his potential. Then I remind myself he's still only 23. If we get 10million plus for him, I guess we don't have much choice in the matter, but if Leeds are taking a sizable chunk out of that say 25%, then we probably want to be holding out for a little more. If Villa or Liverpool or anyone else don't want to pay that, then fine we'll hang onto the guy. My feeling is that, we won't get what we want for him, he'll stay and KK will work on him, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he signed a new contract in the new year. From a squad numbers points we would be f***ed, well and truely, the latest quotes from KK do not sound particuarily encouraging that the "couple of players" are in the bag. I'm starting to get extremely worried now.
