Blah so it's not confirmed then ? I take it back, Ashley sucks
-
Good news then, I always backed Ashley to come up with the goods
-
Or failing that, just say they've said something they haven't OMG I give up. Where's that surrender smiley when you need it ? Look I asked you a question, I didn't state you said anything. I think someone else has been learning from the NE5 school of post dodging. My mistake, I thought you were suggesting I was claiming to have ITK knowledge. All I was getting at was the fact that the "We didn't get Modric, we'll sign Guthrie instead" was somewhat simplistic. Do you agree? Yes I agree it probably is too simplistic. But if come Aug 31, no other person is drafted into the position, then NE5 will have been proven correct.

Watching England groups would also of helped as we played Croatia in November 2007 & he looked good then. Also picking up the odd World Soccer is another great way to broaden your football knowledge. Hope this helps Thanks Spence it does

If you don't then how can you just simply dismiss what he says ?Even though his was based on solid facts Modric no, Guthrie yes. Why is he so wrong ? FFS if you have a go at what someone says, have something to come back at them with otherwise you look as stupid as I do on occassions

I'd never heard of him, like most people. Shame the club failed to land him when nobody had heard of him, and then failed again when everybody had though ? You see NE5 that's your problem, you don't play enough FM to know who these players are. Back that up with the ability to search on youtube and you are up to the same level of knowledge as the rest of them on the forum. Plenty of us have an interest in football outside of this country, actually. Righty oh. They do have some nice kits in the spanish league after all.

I've no idea. Do you ? I'll have nothing but pessimism going into the season with the current midfield and forwards we have. Unfortunately, its the forwards that generally cost the most money. I'm not sure what your second paragraph has to do with the question. To answer your first one though, yes I think he'd be a good signing. I'll ask it a different way, would you view it as a good signing? if Keegan thinks its a good signing, and he's not being forced into buying his 2nd choice for monetary reasons. But I won't be very optimistic going into the new season without at least one more forward player, ideally 2. Basically, if they don't get these players to go straight into the team and improve it, it will have been a s**** summer in my view. If we want to get the most from Keegan, he's got to back him. Cheers. I guess we'll never know re the bit in bold. Nothing suggests its the case, or that it has or hasn't happened in the past. of course not. We lost out on Modric, and bought a Liverpool reserve instead who of course might turn out to be the new Rob Lee. And to date, nobody of any note has came to the club. Nothing has happened to suggest they have any ambition at all, all we have is comments and lack of signings to suggest they don't. mackems.gif Seriously hoping you don't believe that to be the thought process they've gone through. have it your way then, he was a regular and important member of the team, which is why they let him go. I don't think I said that So what is this thought process then that they've gone through, that your ITK knowledge lets you see that others can't ? The only solid evidence thus far is, we needed a midfielder, we tried to sign Modric and ended up with Guthrie. I don't think I claimed to know anything more than anyone else, quite the opposite in fact, if you bother to read back over what you've quoted. NE5's Jedi mind tricks are clearly starting to work with you. Did you not say "Seriously hoping you don't believe that to be the thought process they've gone through." ? Did I not ask "So what is this thought process then that they've gone through, that your ITK knowledge lets you see that others can't ?" If you think NE5's take on the thought process is wrong, then offer up an alternative. I don't know why people feel to dismiss others view but then not have anything in return to dissprove them. I'll forgo all dignity and nerdly respond "The force is not strong with this one."

As much as I whine like a big girl's blouse about our lack of spending this summer. I wouldn't take anyone of the Mackems new boys. I don't think the horrible little man has learnt a thing in the transfer market. They'll not go down but at the same time, they'll be nothing for anyone to worry about. Yeah, but if Keane can keep them from being relegated for a couple seasons, he'll be seen as a miracle worker and can get a better job. So, he's probably doing the job he needs to do. TBH spending somewhere in the region 75million over two years should have made that a given. There's some stinking irony in that post somewhere. Where ? The words. Sorry still not getting it. Don't want to know about your personal s***. That's your business. LOL, sorry I'll keep that kind of talk for my councillor.

Only one of them is French/Spanish. He never says nationality or speaking language. Yeah, pretty obvious I'm talking about the languages of the players, but I'll try extra hard to be as clear as possible in the future incase you try to catch me out, you. You see that's the rules of the forum, you must not leave anything open to interpretation no matter how obvious your point is.

mackems.gif What is this 'policy decision' you refer to? Did someone tell you about it? Let me guess, the clueless London journos. You're ridiculous. I thought you were out..or were you just reffering to the closet earlier ? ;P I'm sure in your small mind that was hilarious. Actually it was, you wouldn't believe the amount of laughs I got from my mulitple personalities.

What did he say? Bloody hell what's up with my typing today

Good deal for Spuds that, I'm not convinced that Keane has that many more good seasons in him, I think he speaked with spuds the year before last.

Well Tyne & Wear hasn't been in existence since the 80's I believe. Altough the 5 district councils still work togehter on certain things, the MBC was disolved by thatcher long ago. That's just the council though, not the county. Newcastle upon Tyne isn't in a county anymore as I said Tyne & Wear doesn't exist. It's not like Blyth Valley council where they are still part of Northumberland County Council. There is no overarching "County" Newcastle council reports to. It's the same with Noth Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshaead and Sunderland. Damn I'm boring the pants off even myself here Much as I hate to quote WP: Tyne and Wear is a metropolitan county in North East England around the mouths of the Rivers Tyne and Wear. It came into existence as a metropolitan county in 1974 after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972. It consists of the five metropolitan boroughs of South Tyneside, North Tyneside, City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead and the City of Sunderland. Tyne and Wear is bounded on the east by the North Sea, and as a Ceremonial county, shares borders with Northumberland to the north, and County Durham to the south. Tyne and Wear County Council was abolished in 1986, and so its districts (the metropolitan boroughs) are now effectively unitary authorities. However, the metropolitan county continues to exist in law and as a geographic frame of reference. You win elbee, wiki saves the day, what did we ever do without it ?

Assuming Berbatov leaves, who is playing up front? Dawson still a starter? 2 new strikers if both Keane and Berbs leave (altough i'd prefer 1 up top). Dawson wasent a starter last season unless we had injuries. Do you know how difficult signing players is these days ? Lots of people on here will tell you, it's almost like trying to invent a cure for the common cold. It's not like FM you know !

So it's not 50 million. Sorry, I thought we were trying to pin down what actually might be happening in the real world. How often is TV rights money awarded? Is it before each season starts? I don't think it is, I want an answer here if anyone happens to know. Anyway. If we were relegated, how much do you think our TV rights would be worth? Less than they would be if we were in the Premier League, perhaps? So saying that, do you seriously not think that money is conditional on staying in the Premier League? All I'm getting at is that no club will splurge that cash all at once, unless you're 100% guaranteed safety from relegation. Well I wasn't trying to pin down exact numbers, just that we had a significant amount of extra revenue from TV deals. Yes from what I am led to believe and there is a small posibility I may be wrong, TV money is dished out at the satrt of the season. But even if it's not and it's dished out at the end then the club can still use it a collatoral as guarenteed income. Our TV rights for 2008/09 would not change if we were relegated. I think you are getting a little confused with prize money here. It's the 2008/09 money that people want to see Ashley spend, not future years as you rightly point out we have no idea what our income will be. So with your logic then no team will ever spend it's TV money, as no team is ever 100% sure of staying up, even Man Utd.
